  1. Good to see he attended. Ben must of skipped out early on the Columbus Crew Award Ceremony last night.
  2. Brenes showed some great footwork, but he needs to learn when to finish. To many chances he had this evening not to even get a shot off, but I do agree with his work rate. I didn't think Koroma looked good. He still looks out of sort in my opinion. It was good to see Yedlin turn in on a few plays. I've gotten so use to him cutting to the endline and crossing the ball. A few times this evening he cut back and even dribbled to the top of the box. Man of the match. Most certainly Meves. And for those of us watching it on the tube, it sure was nice to watch the Zips in HD.
  3. Great turnout for tonight's Akron vs WVU tailgate. Thanks to everyone who contributed and the new Zips fans who stopped by. We definitely appreciate all the great food fans were able to bring out. An improvement over past tailgates when everyone contributes a little something. Photos from the tailgate.
  4. I have some quality beer waiting for your arrival. EDIT: On second thought, you're a DC United fan. We can't be friends today.
  5. They look like last years MLS scarves. Logo is split half and half on the ends with "This is Akron" in the center. The other side says Akron Soccer with the logo between the words. I don't care much for this years scarf. If I get time, I will take a photo. I've been wearing my 2010 bar scarf to the matches this year.
  6. Great to hear! I have 4-5 new people coming out also. Two of them will be attending their first Zips soccer game.
  7. I miss my first match in 3 years and all you could pull out was a 1-0 win, Up a man too. Geez! I'm only kidding. It does feel odd to miss a match though. Thankful it was all worth it to see the USMNT move on to the next round of World Cup Qualifying. I'll be back in form to kick off another streak against West Virginia.
  8. A quick glance through the past 4 drafts. 6 were taken in the first two rounds. 2 in the first round. Not including starting Chicago keeper Sean Johnson, but he was taken in the 4th round in 2010.
  9. Same link is posted in the Zips article on the previous thread. http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=27630
  10. Here is a little background on Maisonneuve although it is a five year old video. Is that a younger Brek Shea at the 5:00 mark?
  11. American Soccer Now Questionnaire with Perry Kitchen I'm pretty impressed with this website since it kicked off a few days ago. Especially if you follow domestic and US national players. Perry Kitchen Profile on American Soccer Now
  12. The tailgate was sure fun tonight.
  13. Invite someone new to every home match. You are permitted to invite more than one new person. 2 or 3 would be acceptable. Invite them out to tailgate before the soccer match. Offer free food and alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages are permitted with a signed permission slip. Don't know where to tailgate, Lot 9. Look for the flags and Akron Zip canopy behind the football scoreboard. Don't be shy. Good people old and young. A grill that is accessible for everyone to use. Didn't know if anyone has kept up on this, Towson and Richmond have recently dumped their men's soccer programs. Recommendation to drop men's soccer called 'disgraceful'
  14. With a 60% chance of rain and a high of 50 degrees at kickoff tomorrow. I'm not going expect any bandwagoners against Florida Atlantic.
  15. Steve Zakuani - Hometown Freestyle off the upcoming "Make a Difference" mixtape. Release date, November 1st 2012. All proceeds going to charity.
  16. I agree, I was a little disappointed in Saturday evenings crowd. Only 4 more regular season home matches left in the season. No reason we shouldn't see a larger support to finish out October.
  17. See you there!
  18. New Attendance Record set last night for the Women in a 1-0 defeat to Northern Illinois.
  19. The King of Kiev. All the great managers carry his influence today.
  20. You could say luck is involved in any situation hiring Embick or any other head/assistant coach in the country. If Embick is given the chance, I'd support it 100%, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's the correct man for the job. If Porter doesn't think Embick is ready for the head coaching position. I'm positive he'll be honest with the situation just like he is with his players in them having a starting role. In my opinion, I do believe it will be someone else though.
  21. I don't believe it will necessarily be a head coach from another University. As mentioned by Z.I.P. earlier in this thread. IU #1 Ass't Coach Brian Maissoneuve is in similar position to where Caleb Porter occupied seven years ago, and should receive a long look.
  22. I think a strong possibility for the new head coaching position next season could be Brian Maisonneuve. Yeagley, Maisonneuve still feel at home in Columbus Strong background and I'm sure he's looking for the right opportunity to land a head coaching position. Ties to Porter, Columbus, Indiana, and the National team as a coach and player.
  23. wrong thread
  24. I was not at the game. Although that was a fantastic finish. . Ever since they brought on Higuain, Arrieta's game has really improved.
