  1. Of course he is. Pick the defensive guy who has no chance of getting hired because the mac is an offensive league. It gives you something to bitch about during this off season and the first losing season. You will have 18 months of material. Right on. Narduzzi is the favorite of more than just Zach. Unless you think others have the same reason for picking Narduzzi...maybe we should cut the kid some slack.
  2. I think he forgot this; I did not think ANYBODY would think it serious that a was needed. LOL
  3. You started out good...but you went where everyone else goes. Stating opinion as fact. I agree that Paul is the right guy....but that is my opinion.
  4. WSU will be playing a traditional D-2 power, Pittsburg St (Kansas), in the final. It would be way cool for Paul Winters to win the D2 championship in grand style before he leaves for his coveted job with his alma mater Akron. Story book. And the post season delay is actually letting a consensus develop among UofA fans that Paul is the guy. I think we need to really show support for Paul if and when Paul gets the job.
  5. I think this has to be due to Juwon Chisolm and /or coach Okruch (only guy left). Okruch was the guy who was responsible for getting Juwon and he got him before Juwon was about to enter Hargrave. At least that is my understanding. We need linemen...WELCOME ABOARD!!!
  6. I'd never vote for someone with a last name that is one letter away from being Amish. We will return from Bali in 2-3 years and can live anywhere we choose. We plan to return to Ohio and live in the Hartville area. Because....I like that they have a significant Mennonite population. We considered Sugar Creek but that was to remote...but a large Amish population was a plus. As a group, the Amish take little from the entitlements provided by our government and have a very low crime rate. If you grade all groups as (+) or (-) in regards to financial/moral surplus or (drain) on society...I think the Amish are definitely a plus. They make good neighbors...that is why we chose Hartville. I know you and I seldom agree...but I am shocked that we do not agree on this issue. You admirably stand up for other oppressed groups (no need to mention the group here) but are willing to throw others in front of the bus?? I guess you really do mean it when you write" You want it to be one way, but it's the other way." Hartville is a really nice community. I live between Clearwater Park & the Hartville Kitchen. Half the time I don't even bother locking my front door. Would enjoy meeting you sometime. You are a very thoughtful and rational poster. (Other than your irrational hatred for Cleveland. )
  7. Wow...I'm in the Top 0.1%? Sweet. **Deleted Post** Oops.... my bad.

  9. +1 Listening to the announcers, I believe this is what they said about all four teams WSU has beaten on the road: 1) St Cloud St hadn't lost a home game in 15 games 2) Nebraska-Kearney hadn't lost a home game in over 2 years 3) Defending national champion Minn-Duluth hadn't lost a home game in 17 or 18 games? 4) Winston-Salem was, of course, previously undefeated Wow! Have they mentioned that it's Division 2...it's kind of important You mean to tell me they are playing D3 teams?? How can that be...they let a D2 team into D3 tournament?? Boy is the NCAA corrupt!!! Are the D2 WSU required to spot the D3 teams some points at least??
  10. Like to shuffle this just a bit. 1. unnamed candidate -- if he is who I think he is. Most of you will be very pleased. 2. Narduzzi -- excellent choice. 3. Johnson -- long shot, a really long shot 4. Winters -- now revealing why I place excellent coach Winters here. MODERATOR EDITED What the f&$@ are you talking about? Coach Winters daughters are all either in high school or college, and the one's in high school go to Stow! Just get the hell off the board if you're going to spread around shit like that. Sorry GoZips. I think you are WAY out of line with your "FamilY' analysis regarging Winters.
  11. There is no such thing as KD2.0 Anybody who takes the time to follow the team or speak with KD will understand his philosophy. He did NOT realize his plan was not working. Only a FOOL would make such a claim. Anybody who listened to him would know to expect hiccups this season with these new guys. he has been saying over and over. This team will take time to gel and grow...exactly what those who follow the team closely have been saying from the beginning.
  12. I still prefer Paul Winters. Look at the history of pro guys stepping back to college...not very good...unless you think Mike Sherman did a bang up job...and he is still available. I predict that within 5 years we will be the class of the MAC and competing for the MAC title within 3 with PW in charge.
  13. MAn that would be awesome. Can we get Zack on UTs website and start some rumors about MC"?
  14. Yep...he is gone. Will be next Toledo coach. Good for him. I think he has way better chance for success there. The lack of HC experiance will not be as great as he will keep many of the staff. And all he has to do is tweak the schedule to fit is ideas. I am happy for him. I think the MAC is on the upswing.
  15. I believe you are correct. There is no other reason this should take this long. I was never in Paul's corner before....I just believe it is his time. And now I want someone who bleeds blue and gold. Give TW a break. This was his first hire. I believe he learned from the process.
  16. @ IntheZone I have a question and want your insight. It appears most of the HC positions are getting filled rather quickly. I believe that most ADs have a list in mind when they pull the trigger on termination. They go through the national search looking for better than the list they have but...they have a plan in mind. I would if I were replacing a guy in the private sector. That said...it seems we are taking a very long time. I could understand that if we are getting turned down a lot and had to move down the list. That does not appear to be the case. The only other reason for the long process is one of the key candidates is in a playoff and unable to speak with them. A D1 bowl would not be an obstacle so a D1 assistant should not be the hang up. That would lead me to believe that Paul Winters is the leading candidate. If you thought Campbell was the #1 guy...I don't think you would wait and risk that Beckman getting hired by someone giving Campbell more options. Maybe Campbell was there guy all along and he wanted to wait and see if this scenario played out?? Is there any other reason Akron would take such a long time to make a hire?? I don't think the interview process is a hang-up for Paul as he has gone through that process 2 years ago. Do you think he wants the job??
  17. Not surprisingly, the Toledo message board is very much in favor of Campbell for HC. There is a definite advantage to be an assistant coach at a successful program. I would like to see Campbell here at some point. Looks as if he will get better opportunities at either Toledo or Illinois. Winters at HS with Campbell at OC would be a dream come true...and succession to Campbell down the road. That probably would never happen because ANY coach who turns around Akron will be on lots of teams radar...including the key assistant coaches. A nice problem to have…
  18. Thanks for that link. There are some positive points in there that could work in DI and are needed at UA, such as: Winters built a base by "building it the right way." He tore down a wall of doom by changing the mind-set of players, their friends and people in the administration. Wayne was viewed as a losing program. Winters did not want people around who felt that way. He convinced recruits that the school was a hidden gem and wanted players willing to redshirt and wait their turn. The one glaring negative in the story was this: Now he's a hot commodity and is rumored to be a finalist for the University of Akron job. Winters says he has no intention of leaving Wayne State for that job. Now you might expect any coach to say they aren't interested in leaving a school while they're in the middle of chasing a national championship. But you never really know what personal reasons someone might have for not wanting to take an opportunity that everyone else thinks they'd jump at. Anyway, the mystery should be solved within the next few weeks. Regarding the "no intention of leaving"....... It is a pretty benign comment, and, as you point out, is pretty much what you'd expect of someone in the midst of a championship run with his current team. Could also be that his agent has advised him to use those words to give him some leverage for negotiating salary during discussions with Akron. Let's not forget he is competing for a National Championship and he is only a finalist for the job. If he says "can't wait to get home" that kind of ruins the morale of the players and if he gets passed over for Johnson or someone else he has less leverage with Wayne State for more money in his contract extension. Also it limits his ability to field offers from other schools like Toledo or Arkansas St. +1
  19. I agree about D'Orazio. I think he may be the guy next year. The new HC knows he wll get a "hall pass" for his first year. It may be better to use that year developing the QB he wants long term. That is what Ianello did in 2011. That is what I think he will do...if he thinks enough of D'Orazio. About the lines... losing 4 of 5 starters on the OL should make anyone cringe. But....the OL was REALLY bad last year or quit. In either case...it should not take a lot to get some improvement. I hope the new coach brings in a good teacher for the OL coach. How successful we are will depend on how good we can get the OL. It will take some pressure of the defense because they will have better field position and be on the field less. For me...it starts with the OL. With a good OL and a all our skill guys back for next year...any of the 3 possible QB options will be a dramatic improvement over 2011.
  20. I feel sorry for Nicely. He probably thinks he has a chance to start next year with a new HC. But from what I saw and what coaches I know have told me...there is no way Nicely starts at any serious D1 program. Strong arm, nice guy are his positive qualities. No huddle presence, quiet and lacks leadership and has no accuracy and little feel/touch on his throws. He seems like a good kid...I was hoping he would transfer and get a chance to play. Now I think he stays and sits again. It may be good of the Zips though...he is a capable back-up and good guy to have on the team.
  21. Is there any way we can get out of our game w/ Tennessee? We need the "beat down" cash. Hopefully no one is injured
  22. Campbell's best option would be to be promioted at Toledo. He knows the administration and could keep many of the staff. Most of the system is in place. If he is passed over...maybe we could get him as our OC with Winters as the head coach. That...would be the best posible option for Akron.
  23. I like the "young guns" Ryan, McCarthy and Cantor. But none are ready to be president at this time. I am done with guys who have no experience or track record...this has been an utter disaster. The 2 most likely candidates are Romney and Gingrich. Both have baggage that make them less attractive to the moderate independents. If Obama gets in again because the moderates don't like either and vote for Obama or don't vote...we are in BIG trouble. Obama will claim it is a mandate and the country is FUCKED. Hello Greece...hello Spain. Italy may be in bad shape but at least they are not adding anything to the national debt. They have a chance if they can get their economy moving (not very easy for the Italians). The guy I really like is John Thune...but he is not running. I have 2 sisters who voted for Obama last time. One will vote again for Obama and the other will not. The one who will not has never voted for a republican in her life. A state trooper friend (Ohio) had always voted republican but voted for Obama last time. He thinks he has failed and likely will vote republican even thou he personally likes Obama. So this will be interesting and close.
  24. He may not have interviewed but I am sure they have an idea if he would be interested or not. Easy call to his agent "would he be interested in the Akron HC job and interview after his season is complete??" Let me find out... "Yes".
  25. I like this one or anyone who has clearly significantly risen the level of a FCS program as their head coach. I also like the idea of Mick McCall, the OC from Northwestern if we can't make a splash with a more well known name like Pat Hill or maybe even a Ron Zook. I like the idea of Paul Winters too but would much rather see someone who has made good strides at the FCS level instead of the D2 level. I think Winters could be a really good HC long-term but the adjustment period may be longer with a guy coming from D2 than with an FCS head man or FBS coordinator. I would definitely want us to look at these two guys. A former, higher level D-1A head coach is my clear first choice. Although I really like Zook as a coach...I don't think he is a good HEAD coach. I hope he finds a good situation for himself. Pat Hill is interesting...but he may have lost the passion. But I would like to talk with him and find out for sure. I think it is Paul Winters time. I hope he is incredibly successful.
