  1. not sure where to place this...the MAC is #3 for teams left in the sweet 16 also, Louisville hosts Colgate Sunday at 5 pm...so the zips/Wisconsin (duh.....just being polite....we know the winner already)....winner will have an extra day's rest Sweet 16 by conference. 4: ACC – Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, Louisville 3: Big Ten – Indiana, Michigan State, Wisconsin 2: MAC – Akron, Western Michigan 1: PAC-12 (Stanford), Big East (Butler), American (SMU), Patriot (Colagte), Sun Belt (Coastal Carolina), America East (New Hampshire), Atlantic 10 (Fordham) Eight former national champions, two more teams that have been to the Final Four. Will be interesting to see if there is a newbie at the College Cup this year.
  2. Wisconsin went thru Maryland, Michigan and IU (on PK's) in the big ten tourney winning on the road at UND after playing Thursday night ...is impressive... will be a great battle on Saturday ...Go , Zips....It is Stewie and Sam Time !!!

  5. Embick says next home game is Saturday??? I thought that round of 16 games were on Sunday https://www.ohio.com/akron/sports/university-of-akron/ncaa-mens-soccer-tournament-akron-3-seattle-0-zips-cruise-to-second-round-win
  6. quality win by the zips... bring on bucky badger...or the irish....
  7. TV writer for the Beacon.....with a tweet about our very overlooked NCAA top 5 seed zips athletic department....loves their mediocre Bowden team

  9. credit to the Beacon....for running this article in tomorrow's paper I am not holding my breath...waiting for Elton alexander of the PD....to do an article on the best college sports team in the MAC https://www.ohio.com/akron/sports/university-of-akron-soccer-rested-zips-ready-for-seattle-in-second-round-of-ncaa-tournament
  10. Travis clark of Top Drawer soccer.....predicts akron soccer after thanksgiving (someone very knowledgeable on this board....once said that soccer after thanksgiving denotes a good year!!) Travis also predicts that Notre Dame and Duke will flame out in the round of 32 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-di-tournament-second-round-preview_aid43438 Seattle (15-3-4) at Akron (16-3-1), 1 p.m. Getting the best of Seattle is simple: stop Sergio Rivas. The junior scored and added an assist as SU got the better of local rivals Washington, winning 3-2 in overtime. Making the trek to Akron, Rivas and Alex Roldan are key to their hopes of an upset. While Akron will certainly enjoy the extra few days off, the Zips are still playing their fifth game in 12 days. Manuel Cordeiro’s presence in the middle is going to be critical in halting Roldan and Rivas, while Stuart Holthusen’s goal-scoring form gives Akron hope for a win on Sunday and beyond. Prediction: Akron 3, Seattle 1

  13. Each team has to win 2 games to get there.....Akron needs to concentrate on a team from Washington this weekend one game at a time......
  14. Interesting tweet about Stanford's seeding... I would imagine that Wake Forest is not happy to see Stanford in their portion of the draw
  15. article has instructions for season ticket holders http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/11/13/akron-earns-no-5-national-seed-in-ncaa-mens-soccer-championship.aspx

  17. Jared says "bring a friend"
  18. This team was quite fortunate to get past SIU-E....when they possibly might have been looking ahead to a game against Western Michigan. It is tournament time...and all coulda's ; woulda's and shoulda's are moot now about the draw. This team needs to take it one game at a time....and focus on beating a team from the State of Washington this upcoming Sunday. I am sure that Jared will start preaching...one game at a time....win and advance. Soccer is a very hard game. Unlike past years, Akron was seeded 2 places higher than their current RPI. The seniors on this team have all improved tremendously from last year. With the loss of Najem and Jonathan Lewis and the 2 starting centerbacks, I thought this team was ranked too high at the beginning of the season. The 6 starting seniors and the 2 great freshman center backs and many others (Skye, the corner kick king needs a shout out) have surpassed my expectations. Nate, Niko, Manel, Pau, Stuart and Sam can lead this team a long way in this tournament.
  19. Notre Dame has to get by Big Ten Champion Wisconsin. Irish will have their hands full.
  20. great news for the MAC and.....SIU-E.....has a very good coach....they will be in the NCAA tourney next year
  21. I will be bold....and subject myself to 2nd guessing.... I don't think that Indiana is going to fall anywhere...but up Indiana has no losses I think that Wake Forest is the obvious #1...even with a loss to Georgia State I think that Indiana will be #2 seed...based on no losses UNC will be #3 seed Duke is #3 in RPI....but I think that they will not be a top 4 seed Louisville has 2 losses...Duke has 4....I think that Louisville will be seeded higher than Duke I still think that Stanford will be seeded much higher than their RPI due to being 2 time defending national champions...and plus they are the only west coast team in the mix I think that Akron, Louisville and Stanford will be the 3 teams seeded 4,5 and 6....I just have no idea....in what order Akron is 16-1-1 since the first weekend...I think that the seeding committee will put a heavy weight on that and Akron will be seeded higher than 7 I think that duke will drop to a 7 seed....maybe a 6....I do not see them as a top 4 team...their 2 best wins are over Georgetown and Wisconsin...akron's wins over Michigan State, Notre Dame and at Western Michigan...make them a better choice than Duke
  22. selection show is 1 pm....you can watch on ncaa.com
