  2. Cregan quoted in this article from a major Pittsburgh paper http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/Pitt/2017/10/16/Coach-Jay-Vidovich-is-making-Pitt-men-s-soccer-relevant-Bryce-Cregan/stories/201710130150 “We didn’t have any type of winning culture at Pitt, whereas at Akron, you were expected to win games every year, make the tournament and go far in the tournament,” said senior defender Bryce Cregan, who transferred from Akron. “Here, we didn’t really have any expectations.” “At the beginning of the year, we were under the radar,” Cregan said. “Now, I think teams are kind of scared to play us. We still have the old Pitt name, but we’re not the old Pitt anymore.”
  3. https://pittsburghsoccerreport.com/2017/10/24/pitt-vs-akron-702-p-m/ This will be a match that senior captain center back Bryce Cregan has been looking forward to, having played his first two collegiate seasons prior to transferring to Pittsburgh when Vidovich was hired in 2016. Cregan started 12 of 16 matches for the Zips, in his freshman season in 2014, recording one assist, but only made three appearances in 2015. Cregan has been a part of the U.S. Youth National Team system, making eight international appearances and was a member of the U.S. U17 Men’s National Team.
  4. http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/facilities/?id=16 above is a link to the peterson sports complex it has a link to directions I keyed in a stow address to get there.... the recommended route is to use 279S once you get off 79s there is another route that uses 376 and takes 9 minutes longer (if neither route has construction delays) below are part of the directions to get to the soccer field....you have to go to exit 2 to change from 279S to 579S On Saturday October 14th, I drove on 279S to get to the Fort Pitt Bridge as I was going to the last Riverhounds game of the year. it took me 45 minutes to go 1 mile(between exit 5 and exit 4) as they had the road shut down to 1 lane at exit 4 on 279S (due to construction). for anyone going over to Pitt for the game, I would highly suggest checking your traffic apps to check for construction delays on 279S.....and also 376. Allow yourself plenty of time to get there as Pittsburgh traffic will be very heavy from 5 to 6:30. I have always run into delays whenever I have traveled on 279S part of route to Ambrose Urbanic stadium ....using 279S Merge onto I-79 S via EXIT 28 toward Pittsburgh. Then 6.93 miles Merge onto I-279 S/Parkway North via EXIT 72 on the left toward Pittsburgh. Then 11.42 miles Merge onto I-579 S via EXIT 2A toward Veterans Bridge. Then 0.89 miles Take the 7th Avenue exit toward 6th Avenue/Downtown Exits. Then 0.33 miles
  5. http://unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/Rankings/College_Rankings/NCAA_DI_MEN/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx Huge game for RPI purposes Akron is currently 14 in the RPI Pitt is 21 in rpi akron's remaining schedule does not provide much for RPI...W. VA is 58 in RPI ; Marshall is 134 and NIU is 164 the team in Kalamazoo is 6 in the RPI I have attached a link to the coaches Oct. 24 rankings. zips win over Notre Dame helped them move from 19 to 14 Notre Dame dropped from 12 to 16 Pitt is at 33 in coaches ranking the team in Kalamazoo mover from 8 to 6
  6. comments from the BG coach in the BG student newspaper https://www.bgfalconmedia.com/sports/soccer-falls-to-akron-in-overtime/article_bce0e31c-b7fd-11e7-8b6e-37c9d86f37e3.html
  7. My reference to soccer Power house was very tongue in cheek When Brennan announced that he was going to BGSU, he said he could have taken the easy route and gone to the local powerhouse...but he wanted to be a leader and establish a new soccer excellent team in the mac. he has 2 more years to make his mark but I suspect that his wishes will not come to fruition. I am ecstatic that Skye's team did not lose to the team featuring his high school teammate. Skye is a really good young man and has improved greatly during his time at Akron. what you quoted above are my words.... I assume that Sean Palchick, the Akron U. soccer SID ...did the two tweets that I attached. The UA soccer tweets definitely felt that Brennan's yellow and red cards were overdue and well deserved. Other comments on the board seem to concur.
  8. whoever was doing the tweeting last night...was not impressed by the local kid...that went away to school...to establish a soccer powerhouse???
  9. zips got the win...on to Tuesday against Bryce and Robby and the Panthers zips dropped to 15 in rpi did not get a lot of help from prior opponents Cal Santa Barbara lost 5-0 to UC Davis (Davis was 7-7-2 before last night) Syracuse dropped to 0-6-1 in the ACC in a MAC game, SIU-E defeated Northern Illinois 1-0 in OT st. Mary's lost 4-2 to San Francisco (SF was 3-8 before the win last night) St. Louis lost 1-0 to Davidson as St. L drops to 4-8-1
  10. Duke......they are both top 10 in rpi Pitt lost 2-1 last night to Virginia at 106 minutes in Charlottesville Panthers will be a very tough road match for the zips....of course, the zips need to take care of business tonight against Chris Brennan and BUGS
  11. A very wise Zips soccer fan reminded myself and another fan this morning that the Zips need to take it one game at a time. BGSU might not be ranked but they would love to upset the zips. Chris Brennan from Copley has 4 goals and 4 assists for the falcons and he will have a ton of fans at the game. Zips can not rest on their laurels from the huge UND win.
  12. UMass has a 3-1 win over St. Louis (and St. Louis has a win over Stanford and a tie with Akron) I love the zips...and UND and Michigan State are impressive huge wins...but akron has to prove that they can beat a top 20 RPI team on the road (Pitt will provide the perfect forum) Akron is being killed in the rpi by a horrible loss to an awful Utah Valley team (UVU is 3-8-2 when they don't play the zips) losing to a crappy team that is 161 in the RPI.....is the main thing preventing from being above New Hampshire in the rankings Denver is also very mediocre....6-6 when not playing the zips St. Louis is 4-7 when not playing the zips the zips have to play well on the road next week at Pitt and WVU Zips have proven that they are a final four team at home..... rooting for them to show their chops and toughness on the road
  13. http://rpiupdatemenssoccer.blogspot.com/2017/08/new-hampshire.html there is an rpi page for each school NH has wins over U Mass (10-1-3 record when not playing NH) ; win over Albany (9-3 when not playing NH) ; win over Dartmouth (8-2-1) draws against Columbia (6-1-2 record when not playing NH) ; draw against Rhode Island (8-3-2)
  14. Akron goes from 22 in rpi ...up to #14 after the win UND drops from 5 to 9 in another top matchup last night...Maryland lost for first time to drop to 10-1-3... maryland is now 8 in rpi...after losing 1-0 to Georgetown (now 11 in rpi) western michigan is 10 in rpi after beating green bay 3-0 (GB was 5-3-3 before the game)

  16. http://unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/Rankings/College_Rankings/NCAA_DI_MEN/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx In the important rankings...RPI....Zips are #23 tonight's opponent...Notre Dame is #4 next tuesday's opponent ...Pitt is #14 WMU is #11 in RPI In the link above...college soccer coaches poll...Western Michigan jumped from #13 to #8 Notre Dame dropped from #7 to #12 and the mighty zips jumped from #27 to #19

  19. I would hate it that Wil would not get to play in front of his family and friends. Cincinnati has shown that they are a great soccer town and they do deserve and MLS franchise.
  20. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer/college-national-freshmen-top-100/men are there really 12 freshman in the country that are better than Joao Moutinho? very glad to see Daniel Strachan at #31 Where would this zips team be without these 2 talented freshman starting for them? Congratulations to both hard working young men
  21. Erik Wynalda tweeted this article today similar thoughts to an article that fknbuflobo posted a few days ago http://theconversation.com/until-youth-soccer-is-fixed-us-mens-national-team-is-destined-to-fail-85585
