  1. and they have no lights at their facility....so Friday games would have to be at 11 am and 2 pm The zips would have to go 3-0-0 in last 3 while WMU would have to go to 1-1-1 against BGSU, SIU-E and West Virginia Like zipsvoice....I would not bet on that occurring
  2. West Virginia...has had an up and down lat 8 days...this week , they upset #1 RPI Michigan State the previous saturday, they tied a poor Northern Illinois team tonight, WVU....played to 0-0 stalemate with Bowling Green (BGSU lost last week 3-1 to SIU-E) in other mac news ...Western Michigan 5 Northern Illinois 0
  3. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/index.ssf/2017/10/should_the_united_states_mens.html Plain Dealer actually has an article about soccer....and Caleb Porter
  4. Skye Harter did an outstanding job on corner kicks tonight. The young man from Copley has improved tremendously during his time at Akron.
  5. http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/10/12/mens-soccer-no-12-akron-resumes-league-play-hosting-siu-edwardsville.aspx look at the all time record....for the zips vs. the cougars..... it is time for the zips to start cutting into that deficit....
  6. Add in SIU-E....and that is 5 games in 15 days...that are going to be challenging... SIU-E spanked a top 20 team in Butler... BGSU has had some down results recently but Copley's Chris Brennan will want he and his teammates to do well at Cub Cadet Field
  7. Congratulations to Barth on his first career goal as a zip and Congratulations to Tor on his first shutout as a zip.
  8. With last night's win, the zips moved up from #25 to #21 in the RPI 3 upcoming opponents...had wins last night SIU-E had a monster 2-0 win over Butler (Butler was #13 in RPI before last night)....hopefully, the Indians are playing in game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night...but the Zips need a huge crowd Friday night...against an SIU-E team that has won 3 straight games by 2 goals (Milwaukee, Bowling Green and Butler) Notre Dame moved up to #4 in RPI with 3-1 win over Michigan (Michigan was #18 in RPI before last night) a very improved Pitt team is #33 in RPI after a 3-2 overtime win over Penn State Quote from SIU-E coach about their next game: SIUE returns to Mid-American Conference play Friday with a 6 p.m. CT game at Akron. "A game like this is why we joined the MAC," Sanchez said. "As players and as coaches we want to test ourselves. The reason we play the Syracuses, the Michigan States, the Butlers is to prepare for games like Friday night. And we're not going there just to compete. We are going there to get a result."
  9. https://www.ohio.com/akron/sports/university-of-akron/mens-soccerakron-2-cleveland-state-0-skye-harter-barth-luther-mouafo-score-goals-to-propel-zips-past-vikings Red-shirt freshman Tor Saunders made his Zips debut at goalkeeper and posted a shutout with two saves. “He made a big save [of a Pio shot] right after we scored [the first goal],” Embick said. “He has been playing well in training and we thought it was a great game to see what he could do. We will see. I think we have two very good goalkeepers [in Saunders and junior Ben Lundt]. It is always nice to get them both involved, and if one is lacking confidence we can go with the other.”
  10. More kind words in print about Adam Najem Adam has exploded with some intricate passing, smart decision making and the ability to set up anyone at any time. https://www.brotherlygame.com/2017/10/10/16451094/2017-usl-match-preview-bethlehem-steel-fc-vs-rochester-rhinos-time-how-to-watch-online-streaming
  11. http://unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/Rankings/College_Rankings/NCAA_DI_MEN/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx zips are #27 in the coaches poll.... I think that SIU-E plays #20 Butler tonight. an SIU-E win tonight and a zips win over SIU-E on Friday night ...would really help the zips in the RPI and of course, a 4-0 homestand...would be the best dose of medicine for the Zips RPI
  12. https://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/polls/csn-top-30-poll/1099-college-soccer-news-top-30-national-poll-week-ending-october-8-2017 zips drop from 17 to 21 in college soccer news western Michigan stays at 13 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men zips are at 12 in top drawer soccer In the only poll that matters...the zips dropped to 25 yesterday in RPI Washington lost yesterday to UCLA,(who had a 4-5 record) and Utah Valley is killing the zips...UVU is now 2-8-1 when they don't play the zips...as they lost 3-0 yesterday to Texas Rio Grande Valley and they lost earlier in the week to Incarnate Word

  14. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/player-ratings-pulisic-altidore-star-014352658.html RB — DeAndre Yedlin: 7 — So that’s what it’s like to have a right back who’s meant to be playing right back. I’ve defended Graham Zusi, Right Back, on a number of occasions (and I’ll continue to do so), but there’s no two ways about it: Yedlin, at age 24, is the right back of the present and the future. In a game that got a little too stretched for most Americans’ liking, his recovery speed snuffed out would-be chances before they could be taken on a number of occasions.
  15. Akron has quality wins over Michigan State and Washington. Western Michigan has quality wins over top 25 teams Michigan and Butler. Akron still has two top 30 RPI teams (Notre Dame and Pitt) on schedule. As long as they both keep winning, both will be in NCAA.
  16. Jared not happy at all "We were poor on the day this afternoon," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "We were not strong on the ball and we just kicked the ball instead of trying to pass. We lost focus on the back and were not tough enough individually and we had no identity today. We can't expect to win if we do not stay true to Akron Soccer and our identity. We lost sight of that today and we need to get it back Tuesday." http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/10/7/mens-soccer-no-12-western-michigan-edges-no-8-akron-1-0.aspx
  17. http://www.wmubroncos.com/news/2017/10/7/mens-soccer-no-12-broncos-take-down-akron.aspx quote from a happy WMU coach...(attendance shows as 1,221 in box score) "What a performance from the men today! That was the most discipline 90 minutes we have played all year." Head coach Chad Wiseman said. "Beating Akron doesn't happen often, it's certainly not easy but you have to give the players the credit for how they played today."
  18. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2017/10/07/match-report-toronto-fc-ii-2-4-bethlehem-steel-fc/ Three Points: Adam Najem continues to impress lately tallying two assists in the match, pushing his total for the year to eight – a new Bethlehem club record. He always seems to be finding open space in the midfield for his teammates whether he is evading defenders with his dribbling or connecting crucial one-two touch passes. Najem has fulfilled his role beautifully this season and will be a very important player moving forward on this playoff run. Only eight minutes into the second half and Bethlehem scored once again in the 53rd minute. Aaron Jones connected with midfielder Adam Najem who then found Derrick Jones for an easy third goal which served as the nail in the coffin for Toronto. Najem and fellow midfielder James Chambers utilized excellent vision all night completing countless creative passes allowing Steel FC to threaten Toronto all night long. As the game progressed, it seemed as if both Najem and Chambers found more and more confidence to complete longer connecting passes which created even more openings in Toronto’s shaky defense.
