another top 25 team to start off the tough 2 game road trip I did not realize that San diego State plays in the pac-12 for soccer. We all remember that UCLA scored 4 goals against akron in early November last year (Richie and Danilo did not play in that game). 2 weeks after UCLA and Akron played....San Diego State defeated UCLA 1-0 on Nov. 16, 2015. I am sure that Coach Embick and the seniors on this team....will have the Zips ready for another very tough team on Friday night http://www.goaztecs.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/083016aaa.html

that is fantastic for a new program. The south Carolina/clemson mens soccer game last Friday drew 6,900. Interesting attendance numbers for UCLA. Their soccer facility has a capacity of 11,700, I was very surprised to see that last week's UCLA-Maryland game was moved to the Stub Hub Center. Attendance at the Stub Hub Center was 1,134. UCLA hosted Cal State Fullerton this past Monday at Drake Stadium (their stadium with 11,700 capacity. Attendance was 746. Will be interesting to see the attendance for the Akron-UCLA game on Labor Day.

We may see Seattle again deep in the post season. Very talented team. All kinds of credit to them for playing up and down the field soccer against the Zips. I also think that Coach Embick and his staff deserve a great deal of credit for making adjustments at half time. Like several others, I sure do not think that Adam was awfully quiet.. He threaded several passes thru heavy traffic. Adam truly has a special vision on what will work on the field. For both games, I tried to watch the action but I also tried to focus on Adam and Victor. They both were all over the field on defense and both are so calm(while being decisive) in making passes and advancing the ball up the field. Victor and Adam's talent and intense competitive fire are going to lead this team to a great season . I thought that both Adam and Victor were outstanding in both games. With all of the surgeries that he has endured, very happy for Tyler Sanda to be the hero. Great student athlete.

If I remember correctly, Seattle shut out a very high powered UCLA team last year to advance in the NCAA tournament and they also have 2 pre season all americans on their team. Great credit to Coach Embick for starting the season with 2 top ten teams.

TennZip replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I absolutely love this tweet from Zarek......Darren, Ben, Darlington and Zarek are rocking the scarves great to see former zips supporting the team.... I saw that Wil Trapp also tweeted that he was loving listening to Robbie Derschang on the live feed -
great student crowd. very good to see the interim president and AD Larry Williams in the crowd Akron was the better team and deserved the win. The veterans...Victor, Adam, Sam, Danilo and Brad all really had outstanding games
-
this is down the road a little bit (and hopefully, Stuart will be 100% healthy by then)....but I just noticed that one zip soccer game this year will be televised on the big ten network The zips road game at Penn State will be televised on October 18 (hopefully, no zips jerseys will be stolen this year) http://www.btn2go.com/schedule?date=2016-10-18&sids=MSC

soccer coaches pre season rankings
TennZip replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
soccer america http://www.socceramerica.com/article/70095/soccer-america-mens-preseason-top-25.html -
http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/divison-i-mens-soccer-preview:-aug-26-28_aid39719 top Drawer talks about the akron game and 4 other games. One encouraging note. We know that Georgetown's goalie is a first team all american pre season selection. The encouraging note is that Georgetown's 2 center backs and 2 outside backs from last year....all graduated. Go, Zips.

I sure hope that Marla Ridenour of the Beacon does an article Friday morning about the season opener. I know that she has been busy writing articles about Clayton Murphy and he deserves all of the credit that he is getting. However, I do hope that she finds time to write about Akron U.s best sports team.

Coach Embick is quoted several times in this article from a North Canton and Plain township newspaper http://www.northneighbornews.com/sports/20160824/zips-ranked-high-still-seeking-right-lineup-as-season-launches
