top drawer soccer has a premium article this week...where they touch on 17 players that should be drafted after next year's season. They listed several from Wake Forest, UCSB, and UCLA. One zip was listed and this outstanding student athlete is quite deserving of their praise. I think many on this board are huge Victor Souto fans as Victor is a true team player that does so many important things that just help the zips win. Top Drawer has some very nice words about our favorite holding midfielder. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/seventeen-mls-draft-prospects-for-2017_aid38732 One of the keys to Akron’s return to the College Cup in 2015 was Souto. While smaller, technical players like Adam Najem and Richie Laryea orchestrated the Zips’ possession game, Souto sits in front of his back line, protecting the defense and breaking up opposition attacks. The Brazilian is no slouch himself, as he’s capable on the ball and offers enough in central midfield that MLS teams should take a long look at him regardless of his international status.

Sabbi is #21 ; Hinds is #19; Jesus Perez is #129. However , those rankings were done in September. Emmanuel Sabbi would be much higher if the rankings were done now. I had seen another ranking in the fall that had Emmanuel Sabbi at #13. When I was out in Kansas City for the college cup, Phil, a great zips soccer fan from the Youngstown area, said he had seen a ranking that had Emmanuel Sabbi at #1. Having 2 recruits on the under 20 team is very impressive. However, they do not rank non US players. Marcel Zajac and Reggie Laryea from Canada are both expected to contribute. Reggie Laryea and Nicholas Hinds are both defenders. Andrew Souders will be missed much but hopefully the recruits will lessen that loss. Hopefully, the goalkeeper from australia will also be a key contributor next year. Obviously, the zips still need a great student and very talented soccer player and a nice young man (Adam Najem) to come back to lead the zips to a 2nd star.

http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/ranking-the-top-10-boys-recruiting-classes_aid38669 sorry for so many posts tonight...slowly finding out more about the 2 newest recruits. Nicholas Hinds had originally committed to North Carolina. He was a huge part of the reason why North Carolina was #1 in the article below. With Nicholas Hinds switching from UNC To Akron, Akron would certainly move up from #3 in the rankings

also from Travis Clark.... Also joining him is Jon Lewis, a forward from Florida who was previously on a youth deal with League One side Bradford City.

When top drawer soccer showed the IMG top 150 rankings on September 29th, Emmanuel Sabbi was #21 and Nicholas Hinds was #19. Really looking forward to 2016 zips soccer. This is shaping up to be Coach Embick's best recruiting class. I know that Wistrcil received a lot of grief during his tenure but his hire of Jared Embick and the 3 year extension...have to be tremendous highlights for Wistrcil's tenure.

nice comments from coach Embick in the news release on Richie "Richie has really developed his game in his two years at Akron to the point where the MLS rewarded his efforts with a Generation adidas contract," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "He showed this season that he is one of the best players in the country. Playing in the MLS was always a goal he wanted to achieve and we are very happy we could help him achieve this dream. We want thank him for all of his efforts in school and on the field to represent the University of Akron so well. He has made The University of Akron proud and we look forward to seeing him further his career in the MLS." http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2015-16/releases/20160107ly8npe and on this board....fknbuflobo did a great job yesterday in expressing appreciation from zips nation for all that #6 did for the zips. Richie definitely made the university proud and I am looking forward to seeing Reggie Laryea at Cub Cadet field. -
