  6. on last night's foxsports broadcast of the Timbers game, they said that Darren Mattocks suffered a torn meniscus in Wednesday's game. Zarek Valentin made several good passes into the box in last night's game.
  7. thanks, ME87...had not seen...release from go, zips http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2016-17/releases/20160511fafgnh
  8. http://npsl.bonzidev.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1573505&player=40300364 looks Like David Jordan.....turns 30 this year... so maybe played from 2006 to 2008 ?? Name does not ring any bells with me...
  9. David Jordan, Defender, Akron Zips ????? David Jordan, Defender, Akron Zips, from Mentor, OH The new players come from some of the top college soccer programs around the area including the Akron Zips and the Cleveland State Vikings, but there are also some players who ply their trade out of state. With the addition of these players, AFC Cleveland's active roster now stands at 28. DEFENDERS (7): Antonio Burgoa, David Jordan, Coletun Long, Ryan Lund, Declan McGivern, James Milli, Cory Shimensky.
  10. interesting that true and uncrowned MAC player of the year....Adam Najem.....will be on the same team....as Mr. Cicerone, the coach's favorite. I will be bold and say that at the end of the year, Michigan Bucks fans.....will know that Adam is better
  11. http://www.timbers.com/post/2016/05/06/timbers-u-23s-announce-roster-2016-pdl-season Niko and Anthony will be out west
  12. looks Like I was wrong about the Michigan game being an exhibition game. Wake Forest released their schedule today and they are playing exhibitions on Aug. 11 and 13....and Wake shows that their regular season starts on Aug. 19. August 19 seems to be an earlier start than previous years(last year, the zips played exhibitions on aug. 18 and 22...and started season on aug. 28 at VCU)...but I am glad that Michigan is a regular season game
  13. The Michigan game will likely be an exhibition game with the regular season starting on the 26th against a great Georgetown team. Oakland University is advertising that the zips will play an exhibition game at Oakland on Aug. 15.

  15. http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2015-16/releases/20160502g0b8s3 preliminary copa america squad. I don't understand the absence of Wil Trapp. He deserves to be in this group.
  16. Darren out of the game....at 55 minutes replaced by Ben Zemanski.... the Akron connection has been mentioned several times
  17. from zips twitter Zips conclude spring campaign registering a 2-0 victory past FC Cincinnati on Sunday thanks to goals from Kahsay and Gainford
  18. Portland vs. Toronto is getting ready to start on ESPN....at 3:50 eastern time... looks like Zarek, Darren and Darlington will start for the Timbers....
  19. http://www.wvusports.com/page.cfm?story=30164&cat=exclusives above is the WVU press release this is the paragraph...where Travis Clark....deduces that Akron, W. VA , Seattle and Georgetown are playing in a 4 team tourney The season officially begins with a pair of games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament Third Round a season ago. Playing in Akron, Ohio, WVU begins the year against Seattle on Friday, Aug. 26 before facing Georgetown on Sunday, Aug. 28. The Mountaineers are on the road for the final four matches of the regular season. The roadtrip begins at Akron on Friday, Oct. 21. A perennial national championship contender, Akron advanced to the NCAA College Cup a year ago.
  20. Akron obviously has not released their schedule yet West Virginia announced their schedule today West Virginia plays at akron on October 21. However, the exciting news....is that it looks like Akron will be playing Georgetown and Seattle on August 26 and August 28 Travis Clark tweeted this message
  21. from zips msoc twitter The Zips’ scheduled men's soccer exhibition w/Dayton Dynamo originally slated for 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 has been cancelled. @ZipsMSoc
  22. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/04/28/naivete-caleb-porter-how-he-reinvented-himself-and-his-team I thought this was worth a separate topic. I was glad to see Darlington Nagbe able to return last night and play against the Revs
  23. Thanks for finding this article and sharing. Jared is a very hard worker and he is very smart. I am very glad that he is Akron's coach.
  24. http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2015-16/releases/20160424o5qlfy Stuart must still be injured? Ezana has done well in the spring
  25. http://www.onceametro.com/2016/4/21/11461056/nyrbii-and-academy-roundup-najem-simpara-diving-and-more-usl the newspaper covering the new york red bulls...has another article that mentions Adam....and I really like Adam's post above (thanks, Nate for posting) In some possibly more positive news for the Red Bulls, Adam Najem is not going to Europe, at least for the moment that is. Najem was reportedly leaving Akron after his junior to pursue opportunities in Europe, however, this appears to have come to nothing. Then, on Saturday, Najem reappeared, standing in street clothes at a Zips spring game. In tweets that have since been deleted, local Akron sports reporters stated that Najem will be returning to the Zips for the 2017 season. The tweets' deletion leaves Najem's status still up in the air, but it appears he is leaning towards a return to the States.
