when the opponent commits 19 fouls in the first half, you are not going to have a pretty game but I am very proud of Coach Embick and the Zips pre-season, several coaches predicted that the zips would not win the regular season or the tourney the zips will have to possess much better next Sunday....but survive and advance is the key...5 more wins is the target for the leaders on this team I sure hope that Danilo Radjen can get healthy before next weekend. Danilo has been a very pleasant surprise this year and he and Brad Ruhaak work well in the back. Very happy that Victor was the hero today ....

I hope I am wrong

I had to google it..... It is about 19 miles northeast of Greensboro and it is 5 miles away from Burlington, NC enrollment of 6,500...and Elon has a 1-0 win this year over Wake Forest (when Michael Gamble was healthy) with their RPI being 27, they could a round of 32 opponent for our zips (they were showing as 27 after the loss...now showing as 26) lots of upsets in the conference tourneys Old Dominion is down to 40 now....they will almost certainly miss the tourney...

http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2015-16/releases/20151112qtxsnofirst off, I am very happy for the 8 young men selected and now, I am going to rant.... Victor Souto is one of the best 11 soccer players in the MAC. It is an absolute disgrace that he was not selected for the first team and it is unconscionable for him not to show up even on the 2nd team. Holding midfielder is not the most glamorous position but Akron would not be #4 in the RPI without Victor. I know that the players don't have time to read what the fans have to say but I greatly appreciate and respect the heart, the skill, the passion, the competitiveness that Victor brings to this team. Victor was the player on the Brazil trip that talked the most about bringing a 2nd star back to Akron. I am very happy that Victor is part of the Akron soccer family and I sincerely hope that he gets some All American recognition since the MAC coaches obviously have their own agendas. I know that Victor would much rather have a national championship than Individual glory but this all league team is a joke.

Very appreciative of this article giving some publicity to the zips

Gaucho Dan has updated the RPI with the ACC semis notre dame moves from 7 to 5 ; Syracuse moves from 9 to 6....wake and clemson stay at 1 and 2 I now think that Wake, Clemson and the ACC conference tourney winner...will get 3 of the top 4 seeds RPI SCHOOL W L D SOS OSS 3 1 Wake Forest 15 2 2 2 1 4 2 Clemson 15 2 2 6 2 5 3 North Carolina 14 1 3 16 4 6 4 Akron 13 3 2 12 24 7 5 Notre Dame 11 3 5 3 3 8 6 Syracuse 12 5 3 4 6 9 7 Stanford 13 2 2 56 11 10 8 Georgetown 13 2 2 21 16 11 9 Seattle 16 3 0 49 71 12 10 Creighton 16 2 0 89 44

final - Notre Dame 1 #1 Wake Forest 0 UND was #7 in RPI before this win Syracuse leads #2 Clemson 2-0 at 87:40 Louis Cross has an assist for Syracuse.....and it is now a final clemson led 15-8 in shots...but syracuse led 5-1 in shots on goal UND vs. Syracuse on Sunday for conference title on Sunday #25 Charlotte and #108 Marshall tied 1-1 after 90 minutes in their conference quarterfinals

Syracuse leads Clemson 1-0 at half time Wake Forest and Notre Dame tied 0-0 at half time Wake's superstar....Michael Gamble still not playing Florida International defeated Old Dominion 4-2 in the conference USA quarterfinals FIU moved from 32 to 28 in RPI...ODU dropped from 32 to 36 S. Carolina is 13 in the rpi after defeating #40 in RPI New Mexico 1-0 a big upset yesterday..#141 in the RPI...High Point defeated Coastal Carolina on PK's Coastal Carolina dropped to #24 in RPI as a result of games yesterday and today, N. Carolina has moved back to 3 in RPI and the zips have dropped back to 4

Old Dominion has really faded down the stretch. They could be on the bubble for the NCAA. ODU is 34 in RPI and they play Fla. International(FIU) in a 4-5 matchup with the winner facing Kentucky. FIU is 32 in the RPI. I would be surprised if the NCAA took 5 teams in that league. the amazing part about Akron's RPI this year....is the fact that so many teams on their schedule have had down years this year. At the beginning of the year, I would have looked at Akron's schedule and said there is not a sub .500 team on the non conference schedule. our former asst.(now head coach at VCU)....has had a tough year. VCU is 5-9-4 and is 106 in the RPI Mike Getman at UAB is an outstanding coach...but UAB is 5-11 and they are 113 in RPI even Penn State (7-8-3) and Michigan State (8-9-2) finished below .500 St. Louis was top 25 at the beginning of the year but is #75 now with a 8-6-2 record Coach Embick and his coaching staff really put together a great schedule.

http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/4929/NCAADivisionI/men/Poll11zips stay at #10 in the soccer coaches poll....and Georgetown moves all the way up to #3 normally, the zips are higher in the soccer coaches poll...than they are in the RPI.....this year has been unusual. Denver is the team this year....much lower in the RPI
-
The NCAA Tournament field, the seeds, and the brackets will be announced on November 16, 2015 at 1 p.m.normally, they do the announcement around 5 or 5:30....article in college soccer news ....says that the field will be announced next Monday at 1 (I assume that is eastern time??)

I would hope someone on Mr. Williams's staff is contacting the Beacon and elton Alexander at the PD every day this week....to get articles written in both papers before the MAC tournament starts. This team has really worked hard and has played a killer schedule. They deserve the support of the university to get the word out about their fantastic achievements.

zips were #5 last week ; they are #3 this week http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1/ncaa-mens-soccer-rpihas there ever been a team in the top 25 for RPI...that has not made the NCAA tourney ? (Louisville could do it this year) Western Michigan is up to #56 in the RPI will be interesting to see where the NCAA seeds Denver (the only team without a loss)...Denver is #18 in the RPI

David Suntup on the video said that Embick told him...that he was letting Danilo Radjen recover from an unspecified injury for one more game and that Danilo would be ready for the MAC tourney. That being said, I was very glad to see Coach Embick give Alonzo Clarke the opportunity as a center back. For whatever reason, Brad and Andrew have not clicked this year as center backs. Andrew has really done well on the outside ....shutting down the outside forwards and he has done well on the offensive side. I also was quite impressed with how well that Alonzo Clarke played. I think that he is going to be a major contributor for the zips. Stuart Holthusen was one of the few bright spots in the UCLA game as he stepped up in Richie's absence and he seemed to carry his confidence forward into the BG game. Like many others on this board, I am so happy with the tremendous strides that Victor Souto has made this year. Victor's passion and will to win is unmatched. He plays an unsung position but his value to the team can not be understated. I hope that Victor can help share some of the many things that he has learned with Richie Laryea to help Richie stay yellow card free....the remainder of the year

Big 10 ACC Tournament scores
TennZip replied to bigzipguy's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Who do you have as the #3 seed? Stanford? Stanford could easily lose to Cal this week (Cal has a win over Washington, and the huskies defeated Stanford; and Cal has a win over UCLA). Still lots of soccer to be played this week. If Notre Dame and Syracuse upset Wake and Clemson, the NCAA seeding committee will have a really tough time. If Creighton comes back and beats Georgetown this week, who knows where Creighton will end up. There is tremendous parity this year in college soccer. I would like to see Maryland win the big ten and Georgetown win the Big East as those will help the zips case for seeding.
