http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1/ncaa-mens-soccer-rpiCreighton plays at Georgetown this Thursday afternoon. I hope that one of those teams win the regular season match and that the other team wins when they play in the big East tourney. Stanford plays at Washington tonight. when those 2 teams played at Stanford, they played to a scoreless tie. Bowling Green at 113 in this week's RPI. However, if I remember correctly, Ohio State scored with 4 seconds left in the 2nd OT to defeat BG. The zips need to get off to a fast start on Saturday night.

quotes from Coach Embick in the Beacon Journal The Bruins maintained possession throughout the match at a much higher percentage than the Mid-American Conference opponents the Zips typically face at this point in the season. “It reminds you that you can’t be reactive, you’ve got to be proactive,” UA coach Jared Embick said of facing a team with UCLA’s style of play. “You’ve got to be focus and have concentration for 90 minutes. “The intensity level and speed of the game was a lot higher than the other games we’ve been playing lately, and when you don’t play those [types of matches] in a couple of weeks, you kind of look like [we did today.]” “I thought we over-celebrated the goal and we lost our momentum,” Embick said of the goal that tied the match 2-2. “I think we zapped ourselves with too much energy and emotion and we never really recovered from that. “To their credit, they have players up top that are difficult to handle. If you can’t have the energy and intensity required, then they’re going to have some moments and in those moments they punished us and we weren’t able to get [the momentum] back.”

Notre Dame has too many ties against teams with less than impressive records. If they beat Virginia and lose in the semis, there is no way that they get a top 4 seed. link below to ACC draw http://www.theacc.com/page/championship_m-soccer

Is Danilo Radjen injured? It is very hard for an outside DB to move back to the Center as Andrew has been asked to do today.

http://dailybruin.com/2015/10/30/ucla-mens-soccer-to-face-familiar-playing-style-in-no-6-akron/their coach acknowledges that they are playing their best soccer now... should be a great "ball on the field" soccer match I sure hope that Captain Adam and Captain Brad are recovered from their injuries from the W. VA game. I know that Adam's injury appeared more serious but Brad had to come out with 4 minutes to go and he is a warrior. I hope that both are healthy. and obviously , the writer should have said Akron had great early season wins over Georgetown and Maryland...and both of those teams defeated the Bruins in that same weekend

the rest of the article below....I forgot to click to open the rest of the article “I decided to commit to Akron because on my visit the coaches and team made me feel as if I were at home,” he told TopDrawerSoccer. “When I saw everything first hand on my visit, I instantly fell in love and knew it was a program I wanted to be a part of.” Mapp is also a local to the program, as he lives 20 minutes away from home, so his friends and family can come see his games when he heads off to college. He said it was his dream to one day to be a Zip, but the team still impressed him to no end. “As far as Akron’s program goes, they have a winning tradition, unreal facilities, one of the best attendances in the country, and they're producing professionals on and off the field every year,” Mapp said. “And that is something the coaches always hit on. They say to be a championship team, your team must be filled with individual champions. They expect the best out of their players everyday and in my opinion that’s why they have been so successful in years past.” As for the school itself, Mapp’s planning on studying business, and the academic support Akron provides for its athletes was a huge plus. “It’s a great campus as they have done a ton of renovations over the recent years and are really making everything the best of the best,” he said. “Also, the soccer team gets a ton of support from the student body for their home matches and everything else throughout the season, so I really like that.” Mapp is Akron’s fourth commitment for 2016.

I tried to find the right thread to post this in... when Alex Mapp tweeted that he was coming to Akron, it got posted under 2015 recruiting.... top drawer soccer has an article in the last week about akron's acquisition...has some info that I did not know. I hope this young man can keep improving at Akron. Alex Mapp, Defender, Internationals SC Class: 2016 Commitment: Akron Since joining the Internationals Development Academy side as a sophomore, Alex Mapp has noticed the improvement in his game. The focus and emphasis on technical work and possession will help him fit into his college home, after committing to join Akron in 2016. Aside from the style fit, Mapp’s father is an alumnus of the Akron men’s soccer program, making it a very familiar environment to the defender.

Creighton drops to 15-1-0 Xavier 2 Creighton 1 1-1 at half...Xavier scored the winner at 88:47 Creighton led 7-1 in shots in first half. 2nd half was wide open...Xavier led 13-10 in shots -
incredible video quality ....I wish akron had the same quality Interesting lineup....no goncalo soares or Pau Belana....in the starting lineup Nate and Robbie both in line up...looks like Nate is DB....and Robbie is a holding midfielder... Robbie had one really nice run to the goal Richie was not flopping....but his poor decision at 4-0 up against Mich. State ....comes back to hurt the team. Hopefully, akron can get a goal from an unlikely hero....Stuart Holthusen? Anthony Macchionne ? Sean Sepe works hard...would love to see him get rewarded... the side with Andrew and Sam....not seeing the ball much

that is the worst yellow card call ever... yellow card on Richie...for supposedly flopping richie will not play against ucla horrible

in NCAA soccer, do you need to be above .500 to make the tournament (if you don't win your conference tourney?). I am specifically looking at Ken Lolla and Louisville as they have a very high RPI but I do not see them finishing with a record above .500

ME87, I only watched via computer so I obviously did not have a good perspective like you and the other Zip fans at the game. The announcers kept talking about playing against the wind. From my perspective, I felt that Jake gave up way too early in the game and allowed Western Michigan's high pressure to determine how the zips played. Yes, WMU was pressuring up the field but they were not stealing the ball consistently. In the first half, when the zips were playing against the wind, Jake made the decision to wave off the defenders and kick long against the wind. I like Jake but he does not have a strong leg. Jake stayed with that strategy for the entire game and that played to WMU's advantage. I love our midfielders, especially Adam and Victor...but they are not tall and bulky and don't win balls in the air on a consistent manner. I would much rather have seen Andrew, Brad, Robbie, etal given a chance to work the ball up the field. Victor was not given the opportunity to get the ball at his feet to work his magic. There was no quick movement of the ball across the field. I rarely heard Andrew's name on the broadcast. In the 2nd half, the ball was on Niko's side for most of the time and he seemed to get beat up by the bigger WMU players. The Akron players are very skilled and should know how to punish a team that is coming with high pressure. With 15 games in the books, I would like to see us settle on a side defensive back on the opposite side of Andrew and settle on a forward up top to go with Sam and Richie. It looked like Nate played about 20 minutes as a front forward yesterday. I like both Nate and Robbie as a corner DB but I did not feel that Nate was effective yesterday as a forward. That being said, I have to give a tremendous amount of credit to WMU and their third year coach for playing soccer against the zips and leading in shots. They play at Michigan tuesday night and I think it would be great for the MAC for Western Michigan to get a win on the road. After the Wake Forest game, the zips came out with renewed energy at Santa Barbara. I hope we will see inspired performances this week against W. Va and UCLA. speaking of UCLA, they defeated CAL a week ago 6-0....same two teams playing tonight. Cal leads UCLA 3-2 tonight at 79 minutes.
