  1. Matt was a solid, versatile fullback at Akron. He ran decently, blocked well and was a pretty good receiver out of the backfield too. I seem to recall him playing a fair amount of special teams too, even after he cracked the starting lineup.
  2. This article answers some questions.
  3. If we can't land Mitch, maybe we can sign Jack Snowball, who was co-winner of the offensive POY in Div 1. Us older farts might remember his dad, Dave Snowball (one time Revere QB), as the extremely young and intense DC for Lee Owens' first squads at UA. Has anyone seen Jack play? He looks like he might project better as a fullback or linebacker.
  4. Good call, Keener! Here's a little blurb on Adam Wallace. Although I don't know his head coach Joe Harbour directly, I do know his (Joe's) in-laws. I'll see if I can gat an idea as to which schools are giving Adam attention at this point.
  5. Things have changes a bit ( ) since this story first surfaced, but Crist is now officially available. But it looks like he'll most likely wind up at Wisconsin, Utah, or San Diego St.
  6. Jeez, I hope not. Interesting information on what Elton thinks Winters makes at Wayne St.
  7. I always respected his philosophy. If UA can get him in for an interview, they should do it.
  8. Things have changes a bit ( ) since this story first surfaced, but Crist is now officially available.
  9. It's too bad that NIU lost their best defensive linemen against OU, because Arkansas St is playing very well right now. I agree, these should all provide opportunities for wins, but without checking any odds I believe Temple and WMU might be the only two MAC teams who will be favored heading into these games (Toledo and Air Force should be close). All in all it's been a pretty decent year for any MAC team who wasn't coached by a guy whose name rhymes with jello. I'd like to see the entire conference come through in these bowl games for a change.
  10. Since Wayne St plays at Winston-Salem next week, I wonder if GP1 is thinking about attending?
  11. Thanks for the info! The Middle/Akron games of the mid 80's were classics. I hope tomorrow's game is a good one
  12. Whether he gets the UA job or not, it's nice to see a Winters' team win some games like this because the Zips usually came out on the wrong end of these wild ones under LO. A couple things stand out: 1) I saw a lot of the same offset I formation Paul used at UA. 2) The Warrior O-line does a nice job of continuing their blocks and blocking downfield. 3) Wayne St has MAC caliber players at the skill positions, minus the depth. It's hard not to be impressed with them winning 3 straight on the road.
  13. Montreal's support group is the Ultras.
  14. We should call you the Oracle. Nice call. You could just sense the momentum swinging, although in the end a few questionable play calls did OU in.
  15. It does seem like this is a great game every year. They showed a clip of our last second TD. NIU going for the game winning FG w/ 5-seconds remaining. Frank Solich icing the kicker. Taking a page out of the iCoach playbook! And they showed Getsy-to-Hixon from an angle I've never seen before
  16. So is this guy the son of the original "lose some weight" Kerry Hammonds? Edit: Here is confirmation that he is! His dad was one helluva tough guy to get out of the paint.
  17. Drama always seems to find its way to Ford Field in early December.
  18. NIU starting to turn the momentum, but they're still down 20-7 late in the 3rd. Harnish looked like he might be heating up the last drive, though. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a Husky comeback win. NIU looks like they've figured out the OU offense.
  19. R Ianello You have reached the summit, grasshopper Hilltopper!
  20. OU up 20-0 with 2:35 left in 2nd quarter.
  21. Bobcats off to a quick start, but Tettleton (didn't know he was Mickey's kid until tonight) just let the Huskies back into it with a poor decision. Lots of mistakes so far, but Soluch's defense looks as solid as ever. OU 13 NIU 0 9:16 left in 2nd
  22. mods: kill this (double thread)
  23. Agreed. Although a few more OOC losses will make a 20 win campaign extremely difficult given the strength of the MAC East in 2011-2012.
  24. Now that's the textbook example of flatlining. You said it! That very term kept jumping out at me when I was creating the graph. DOA.
  25. #4 is Jim Dennison. Who else ever had a 10-win season at Akron? Bingo!
