  1. Then can we count on any UberZips in the future?
  2. I agree with CK that we need to open things up early in the game and get Suel involved early. I still have concerns about whether the O-line can give LR8 enough time to throw deep, but maybe a few roll outs would do the trick. Can you imagine if we had THIS GUY as our coach If I remember correctly, he coached K.E.N.T.'s Spencer Keath in HS.
  3. I have been saying the same thing. The UC game almost does not matter= I am expecting to get trounced. The recovery has to begin by beating VMI, getting some confidence and then taking care of EMU. Get those 2 wins and get some momentum and let the kids see some level of success and the FIU game becomes one where MAYBE we can get something good rolling.Said it after OSU game...Ianallo has 5 weeks for me to not become another member to completely turn against him. Temple game was WORSE than I thought, but I am sticking to my 5 weeks. My mindset is right there with yours. Development HAS to become apparent on Saturdays at some point soon. My biggest area of concern is the offensive line. Pughsley (sp?) has been out all year, Straight is questionable for Saturday and the guys who have played have struggled in the 1st 2 games. Hopefully, some of those guys will get healthy and the unit as a whole will start to improve. Otherwise, it's hard to envision even a slight turnaround occuring this season.I sit right behind the bench. Wasn't Pugsley only in on special teams plays last year. He was on the three man punt protection wall and that is as I remember from last season. I don't think the season was by any means resting on his shoulders.I thought he had worked his way into the starting lineup ahead of the OSU game.

  5. I was listening to Chris Childers on Rivals Radio this morning and he made the comment that he looks for Leach to take over at FAU next year. Maybe it's not too late. He is a polarizing character, but he would create a lot of excitement and the offense would be fun to watch.I know. I'm dreaming.Wow, if FIU can hang onto Coach Crystal Ball after this season (doubtful) and FAU lands Leach, every team in the state of Florida will soon be a handful.
  6. I'll take one for the team and volunteer for this duty. :DSeriously though, I like the future opponents for the most part. I don't think we've ever played TN, ND, or UMich and we have a home-home from Pitt and their fans should travel well. And if they break the contract early, that's just easy money for the athletic department and we can schedule an easier team. UCF and Marshall are familiar opponents from their days in the MAC. The other opponents should be at our level and winnable.I'm a bit surprised we haven't scheduled WVU for a 2:1...I'd expect their fans to travel well too.WVU would be a great 2:1 if we could get them to do it. I think they'd travel much better than Pitt, although I'm thrilled the Panthers are on the schedule for a 1 and 1. I grew up watching Pitt and went to several games as a teenager at Pitt Stadium during the 1976 National Championship year. The Zips actually have played in Knoxville, but it was way back in 1989. I remember current UCLA offensive coordinator Mike Johnson making some plays at QB against the Vols that day.
  7. So you're saying you're willing to Volunteer?
  8. I had to think about this one for a while. I believe our kicker for kickoffs, Kevin Ivasku, wears #36 and he did in fact make a tackle on one of the kickoffs. That's probably the confusion.
  9. The only consolation - the only other MAC school on the list (even the waiting list) - Can't. Northeast Ohio - proud football traditions (sigh).Apparently the Wagon Wheel is running out of space to list the winning team. This spy photo of a prototype wheel was recently obtained from K.E.N.T.’s College of Technology.
  10. Skip will soon be pointing out that Winters still has a sub-0.500 career record, but he won’t be able to claim that for long. The article does a good job of illustrating just how big of a rebuilding job Paul faced when taking over at Wayne St.I’ve said it earlier. This is a huge season (and a huge game on Saturday) for Paul. His Warriors have struggled a bit in the past to close out the big games. They’ll need to get past that to win the GLIAC and go far in the D-2 playoffs.
  11. UA at #4, just ahead (or is that behind?) iCoach's former stomping grounds.
  12. John Mackovic
  13. I can't help but think that these examples of the athletic dept running a Mickey Mouse operation aren't somehow tied to an enormous shortfall in revenue caused by the demise of the football program. I'm not excusing it. But they're probably grasping for straws right about now. No matter how successful the rest of the sports teams might be, the financial figures have to be pretty ugly.
  14. Yesssss! Basketball news!!!I wonder if he brought his gold medal with him?
  15. Buckeyes intercepted, I'm sorry was that to ugly...My bad. I misread the stats on GoZips. I'll still take only one INT in two games. It's actually two (one in each game). BUT, the 1st was a tip ball off of the receiver and the 2nd was after the QB was hit, causing a quacking duck over the middle.
  16. I haven't seen that one yet, but I'm intrigued. The other three you mention are all ales, so this lager should have a different feel and flavor. I had a nice black lager up at the new microbrewery in Ohio City a few weeks ago.
  17. I agree with CK on the field goal (he also nailed it on blog #2, but keeping with the positive theme I'll leave it at that). As someone pointed out in another thread, Marchase is 0.500 for the season. But the miss was maybe a few feet wide left. He looks like he has good mechanics and the rest of the FG team seams to have it down. Here are a few others:1) True FR Safety Bre Ford (#23) laying his pads squarely on Matt Brown and launching the ball 15 yards backward. It's been a long time (Dwight Smith, Andre McRay?) since we had a DB who releshes contact like this kid apparently does.2) My Big Lots tailgate tent surviving its 1st game (good thing I bypassed Dollar General, huh Keener? )3) Mr & Mrs JZ84 finally getting to wear our #34 jerseys 4) The rain didn't mess with the best part of the day.5) I could have sworn I heard someone calling me ???
  18. I must admit, that was pretty awesome
  19. Denigrating another poster - ban him! Ban him! :DAlmost game time - c'mon Zips. Have to settle for watching this one on ESPN3.I plead insanity!
  20. Keener (jerk) beat me to Barktoberfest I'll add the following:1. Ohio Brewing Verich Gold2. Ohio Brewing Cardinal Ale3. Ohio Brewing Buckeye Blonde4. Iron City Light MANGO courtesy of the good doctor 5. Great Lakes Nosferatu (sp?) courtesy of gozips19
  21. On the other hand, if FIU holds on to win tonight they have a decent shot of coming to the Info at 5-0 with probably more than a few votes in the polls. Their biggest hurdle after tonight is UCF at home. Ianello might not want to play them under those circumstances, but I like seeing quality opponents.
  22. Seems like no amount of drama that happened in Columbus could have prevented that beat down as much as us fans had hoped it would. I hope before I die, we can beat them chumps without any drama.+1It would be nice to be the 1st team from Ohio to beat them since Oberlin in the 1920's, but I think someone else will beat us to it (maybe sooner than we think).Edit: Looks like the money is shifting quickly in this one. The ZN.O effect?
  23. Besides a variety of OBC brews, I'm also bringing a large bottle of one of these --> , but I'm only opening it if the Zips win. I will bring it to as many games as necessary!

  25. In a very strange coincidence, UA trails OSU 21-0 at halftime for the second week in a row! Now hold on there, pardner. You're not having a f-l-a-s-h-b-a-c-k. Why it's T Boone's Pokes up on the 'Zona Wildcats this go around.. Apparently Stillwater does run deep.............and throw deep................and kick deep.I realize these Big 12 (for now) defenses are pretty bad, but I really enjoy watching the creativity and excitement these offenses generate. You may now return to watching tumbleweeds roll. I'm fixin' to watch the 2nd half.
