  1. I'm thinking he meant to say "size ISN'T that important to them"? This would make more sense in the context of the discussion. In terms of his playing LB, it all depends on whether March can put on a good 30-35 LB by the time he's a senior without losing any speed. We don't know how extensive his strength training has been in the past. Maybe he has some upside in this area? Mike Thomas (listed at 5'11", but probably closer to 5'9") was a pretty decent LB here, but his stature probably limited his ability to play at a higher weight (listed at 220 LB last year). Hopefully, March is a legit 6' (not that this is particularly tall for a LB).
  2. GSH was a pretty interesting flick, and Exchange Street Elite works for me. But I was actually thinking about Buchtel's Brigade independent of this list so I'll place that number 1. I really like the idea, BTW
  3. Looks like Fox can punt some also.
  4. Was thinking to myself last night that there has to be a joke like that (K without a D) in there somewhere. Well played! Humpty may have had his issues, but right now we really lack a perimeter player who was as passionate on defense as he was.
  5. It does seem a little odd. HERE is his Scout Profile.
  6. While not a recruit for 2011, HERE is some information on a local QB being recruited for 2012.
  7. Sweaters are a 2.5 point favorite. Here's to hoping the refs allow Zeke to play the game that Charlie Coles has feared since the day he verbaled to the Zips It seems like TURNOVERS could be a key if the Zips want to pull this one out.
  8. Beacon Story by Marla Ridenour on Porter's recent recruiting efforts. There's not a lot of inside scoop here, but it's notable that Caleb decided to "go fishing in the Caribbean" again
  9. I wouldn't count Legursky since he played at Marshall after they left the MAC (and Briggs is close at UCF so I'm not sure there), but the thing I think is impressive is that 10 current MAC schools are represented plus Marshall (and maybe UCF). The only schools not to have a player on any of the four rosters are Temple, Ball State and Ohio. Brad Maynard punted for Testicle Tech a few centuries ago
  10. I think you got them all, Dr Z. One thing that stands out to me is just how loaded CMU has been over the last few years. Sure LeFevour had a lot to do with their success, but he obviously had PLENTY of help (more, in retrospect, than I realized at the time).
  11. Lol He played a huge role!!! How could anybody forget his performance. Good for him and all other past MAC players in the NFL I wrote this considering his more limited role against the Falcons after he had chewed up Tampa Bay in the prior game. You’re right, I expect him to be a huge factor as to whether the Pack can get past the Bears. I think they can.
  12. Nice find! I'm wondering if there have been a few new offers since a couple of UA recruits have recently selected other schools (WMU, CMU, Pitt)? Here is his Scout profile.
  13. Going from old to ancient!
  14. Almost forgot old Chester.
  15. Packer WR Greg Jennings is a player. Of course, who could possibly forget THIS guy? If this happens to confuse anyone, please check THIS out before making any "corrections"
  16. U@B's James Starks could still play an important roll against the Bears.
  17. Link (takes a while to load)
  18. Wasn't it Korb at left back and Valentin/Barson in the center?
  19. For as many seasons as I can recall, KD has emphasized that the Zips simply aren’t good enough to win MAC games without playing with heart and executing. And he has been correct all along in this notion. I think because of our recent stretch of MAC championship appearances and the highly publicized recruiting of Zeke, there sprouted some hope among Zip fans that perhaps we might start to separate ourselves from the pack in the MAC East. The reality is this might be the most balanced MAC East in a long time. And a few MAC West squads are looking to be improved as well. We’re in the midst of a season where pretty much EVERY game will require effort and execution to have a chance to win. Will one or two leaders emerge from the players, so that the necessary focus and intensity are provided each night? I think this is a must for any hopes of a 20 win season and/or tourney run in Cleveland.
  20. More on Rossi ahead of Big 33 Game It sounds like he's LIKELY to be tried at FB or H-Back initially for the Zips, but I wouldn't rule out LB at this time either.
  21. Rifle at #1 WVU But will the 'Meister make the trip to Morgantown?
  22. CNNSI article on where Akron's 2011 class might rank all-time
  23. That's how Forest Gump hooked up with Bama. Your best line in a long time!
  24. This article could fit in a lot of places, but I decided to post it here. There are lots are interesting notes here. Among them: 1) According to sources familiar with the deal, United's first-round pick, Akron midfielder-defender Perry Kitchen, will earn around $170,000 in his rookie season. It's a modest base salary with a large signing bonus, which is typical for Generation Adidas players. Kitchen, who was offered a trial but not a contract by Belgian club Anderlecht before committing to MLS, signed a four-year pact, and as a GA, will not count against United's salary cap. 2) Commissioner Don Garber said the league is seriously considering a Pacific Northwest jamboree of sorts by scheduling regular season matches between the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps in a span of a week or so (Seattle vs. Portland, Vancouver vs. Seattle, Portland vs. Vancouver). The idea is to create a unique event that would stand out in the otherwise mundane regular season. It wouldn't draw the attention of the NHL's Winter Classic but would generate buzz in the respective cities and soccer-mad region, and attract some national curiosity. If it's going to happen, 2012 is much more likely than this year because of logistical issues, one MLS official added. 3) It's Akron Coach Caleb Porter's world, we just live in it: Five of the first eight selections were from the NCAA champion Zips, and two more went in the second round.
