Not sure how reliable this is. For one thing, Mallory went to UM, not MSU. For another, I can't find any other independent source to confirm this. I do know that he was at Wisconsin along with Ianello. He was also at Minnesota when Wistrcill was the assistant AD. His son played WR at Minny last year. he was a freshman. I doubt he'll come play for the Zips though, due to a medical condition that kept him from playing most of the season and probably ended his career. If true, it looks like ITZ was right. We went and got an "Ianello guy" and even a "Wistrcill guy". I'm tired of never looking beyond their little circle of failed coaches to find new assistants. Cosgrove may have been the worst coordinator in Big Ten history. Look at Minny's defense last year, when he was in charge. It was just awful. - Thanks to a certain Zips fan for the scoop. If true, this tidbit doesn't exactly make me feel great about the hire.

Bottom Line: The Zips are down by 3 with 9 seconds left in a MAC Tourney game in Cleveland. Of the current players on the roster, who do YOU want shooting the ball? I know Steve’s had a rough 1st half of the season, but I’ll still take my chances with him when the game (and season) is on the line.

Loved seeing the Zips take it to the Cards tonight. The 14-0 run after BSU had cut the lead to 2 was a beautiful thing indeed. Nik was a monster all night and Abreu really disrupted Davis, their pedestrian PG. Way to go Zips!!!

Johnny ... Not even one dissenter? Well here is one. I'm for Dr. Z. His record is better. Last year he was 0-0 or .500 that's a lot better than Vince's record of 1-11 or .091. Also this is not based on cronyism. I have met Dr. Z only once, but he did offer me a beer and that left me forever in awe of him. Besides that, this is based solely on unimpeachable sources regarding his ability i.e. CK and a few buddies who thought it sounded like a good idea (after a few beers). Well, up until now I think I'd pay a little extra to see a game with Dr. Z in the booth I don’t have the figures, but I’m willing to bet that Vince’s winning percentage AS A DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR is a little better than 8.33%

A scheduling conflict prevents me from attending most Wedesday night games, but I watched the 2nd half on STO. On the play where Q took it the length and dished to McNees for the layup, it looked like he (Q) was in a completely different gear than everyone else. If KD can get him to play with consistency, I really like his prospects (perhaps not NBA, but REALLY good MAC player). Zeke simply needs to get stronger with the ball on offense or we can't run it through him without the contant threat of a turnover. All in all, I was pretty pleased with the outcome at this point of THIS season.

Who knows, maybe an "unfortunate" name serves to toughen a player up? Perhaps Dick Butkus (one example) might not have been the quite the same LB without the teasing that no doubt came along the way.

Nice work, Dr Z! I think it would make sense for a number of reasons: 1) He's got a lot of experience as a DC (Northwestern, Colorado, Illinois) and his defenses were mostly pretty good. 2) Hiring someone quickly would allow the guy to maximize his impact on spring ball. One negative is that iCoach would probably need to hire a special teams coordinator to replace "the Stache"

If true, I have two comments: 1) Thank you, Curt, for sticking it out through the recruiting season. I mean that. 2) We already have another coach on this side of the ball who has been a successful coordinator. Maybe the best move would be to promote from within. Edit: This link serves two purposes.
