If Akron can demonstrate the grades are improving, I suspect there is a realistic chance. But I don't know if there's any way to know this.

Yes, this year needs to end 6-6 and next year needs to improve on that before an extension makes much sense.

Frankly, this is the biggest show of progress we've had maybe in the Moorhead era. Yes, UMass is quite possibly the worst team in recent FBS history. But it's been a long time since Akron saw a straight-up bad team that just bludgeoned them like this.

Would you look at that. Would like the defense to step up a bit more but if the offense keeps scoring TDs on 75% of their drives, I guess it's OK. Moorhead's offense doing its job tonight.

How much of this is "Akron really is getting better" versus "how bad is UMass" But Akron does look legitimately decent so far tonight. 6-6 is still alive...
