  1. Every other year is fine. It won't hurt Akron's standing as a mid major to travel to Youngstown or Cleveland every other year to help build a rivalry. Especially when it provides a likely road win in the non league.
  2. Well right, and playing annual games against local rivals home and away would create another game that matters at least a little bit. And since we're all mid majors whose ceiling is the Round of 64, who cares if they're "beneath us" or some crap.
  3. That would do it
  4. Likely the same AI that gave me this soccer t shirt ad
  5. Given the stadium cost and the annual payment, you'd have to think they're about a 20-year bond. So in theory if they were issued when the stadium opened, maybe it's close to done...
  6. How much longer is that payment?
  7. Eh basketball can take a step back and still win the MAC
  8. I think it would help create stability for everyone else, except those teams near the top of that "top 40-50" that are trying to get into the big boys club. This sort of plan would absolutely create more stability for the Akrons of the world.
  9. Starting in 2027 the season will be a fall/spring season. Fall 2027, teams will be able to play up to 18 games. Spring 2028, up to 10, with the tournament on the back end of that.
  10. I would go almost as far as to say "no risk."
  11. She was a cheat code in HS
  12. Jerry Tarkanian said it best. “The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation.”
  13. I'm not sure that's fair to say EITHER WAY because you have teams trying to build out 15-man rosters with innumerable guys. What Ball State wants a guy to do might be more interesting to that guy, even if Akron is a "better" situation. Assuming Akron even talked to him, of course.
  14. Hey that's a longer college highlight video than LeBron!
  15. Not sure it's that - given a juco signing this could be a "2027 move" as well. Get him a year here and then he starts next year?
  16. Well of course that's what they were always going to do. They're clearly not serious about increasing fan engagement and their presence in the area.
  17. Very true. We'll still be there anyways, and the folks they didn't even try to court will still not have any idea they exist.
  18. Stankovic has a neat name and the Spring game (and events leading to it) is just the latest Akron athletic department screwup. Seems like a reasonable discussion in mid-April.
  19. And that wasn't even their spring game. They're doing another event this Saturday. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EWdhUDJ9d/ So sad that Akron isn't even trying, and Zips fans apparently think that's OK because trying to develop the fan base with events around stuff they're doing anyways is stupid and boring and stuff.
  20. "Ooo that's a cool place to go." I know it's an amazing concept around here for the program to actually try and build its fanbase, but Kent is showing ways to actually go and work on it. And the reply around here is "haha that's dumb, we shouldn't do anything"
  21. So you're saying making effort to involve the community are stupid. Interesting concept, and completely in line with how Akron currently operates.
  22. That's why Kent made it "kids day" and had activities for the kids with the football players being involved with the kids. Yeah, it was bad football...but I bet they made a couple fans for life because they actually tried to.
  23. Yep, we are 100% in agreement there. Yeah, the game itself isn't exactly going to be the highlight of anything because it is effectively a practice. Which means the other parts of the package actually have to do work to make it a fun experience. And Akron has failed amazingly at that task.
  24. In today's NIL/portal world, this will help Kent because you can see that pipeline to "CBB contender money" from Kent State.
