This is unbelievable!!!! The Zips should file a complaint with the NCAA as this is the biggest sham i've ever seen and perhaps the biggest in sports history. Figures it's in Vegas.
-
and we are FINALLY back to playing basketball after a 20 minute delay. and a horrible call right away. The guy just rolled onto the ground with the ball and no traveling...shocking. I don't think we will be accepting another invitation to this tournament. The horn broke at the arena too. What a joke of a week.
-
He should have been given one, he really hung on it. What a momentum killer!
-
MCKNIGHT!!! 20 points! 12 straight! 57-51...5:10 to go
-
Brett McKnight is taking over. He always plays so well in these blowouts against big teams. Then again, we are down 9 now only so not a blowout! 6 minutes left. 13-0 run, Brett with 16 points.

Our entire team is fouling out yet they wont call a thing on Miami...it's mind blowing. Btw, the ref yesterday that was so terrible is back tonight....if you havn't noticed from French's call of the game. As i type this, McKnight gets destroyed after hitting that three and it was so late we should have got the ball back because it wasn't a shooting foul.
-
The Zips are done. Zeke's fouled out as well. I dont know what it is but every time Dambrot's teams have big games they don't get it done. It's either: The other team gets hot. We play terribly. The officials forget how to do their job. The only big games that we've won that come to mind are FSU in the NIT in 2008 and Buffalo in the 2009 MAC Championship. Other than that, just terrible.
-
Zeke is playing stupid on defense. Three of his four fouls are just terrible.
-
Is it really that hard for refs to eat their whistles and let the teams play? God, basketball has become so boring because of these kind of games. I'd watch soccer over this garbage any day. three fouls on Zeke now. (moving screen?...come on Zeke)
-
here we go again with the refs. Though French is wrong with the call there. It wasn't travelling, the player caught his own airball but it was a legit attempt.

I'd give it a 3 or 4 on a 1-10 scale. The good: French audio in sync with the video for the Stetson game. It's anybody's guess if they will use ours or Miami's audio tomorrow. The bad: Just about everything else. Video quality is poor at best. As I recall, the entire game was shot by just one camera with no close ups at all. Tough to tell who was who at times as it appears that the camera is pretty far from the court. All and all, a very low budget production. Not really worth it unless you are a complete Zips fanatic ( probably most of us) and just have to see it. My feed wasn't nearly that bad. It was pretty decent quality (6-7 out of ten). I'll agree the cameras weren't great but you get the same amount of angles of the action in person! Also, I got 5 or 6 people coming over to watch tomorrow vs. Miami. Going to hook the computer up to the tv, better than no feed at all I guess. Though it feels a lot better paying a dollar for it i'll tell you that much.

Crazy news if it's all true. Mattocks and Kitchen staying would be HUGE for us but then again, I want to see Tulloch or Genovesi with some time at Forward. I'm sure we can find a way to move people around. btw anyone see this: The firstmerit building has it going tonight.
-
WOW...all 5 fouls on Zeke tonight were insane. No surprise that the one ref is a MAC official. Zips still playing pretty well, fighting against a lot of adversity and up 11. Make that 14...three ball for D-Rob.
-
Well McNees hit another three....looking fairly good. The officials are out of their minds...this is terrible. Dambrot looks like he is going to explode right now.
-
If the Zips can stay consistent they should win this by 30 points. Halftime. Zips up 42-27.
-
The hatters are terrible....the officials may be worse. Zeke's coming out party yesterday....Abreu's today? Another three by Alex and the Zips are up a dozen.
-
Live stats won't load at all for me. I don't know what the problem is. Yeah same, no idea. They probably fired that awful stat guy.
-
And we've gone on a turnover streak. 3 possessions in a row. 19-10 btw, anyone having trouble with the live stats?
-
Still hot shooting though as a team...love it.
-
McNees = 1 for 1 from three spoke too soon...ugh
-
Just 1350 audio if you didnt buy the game feed.

I think many of you are forgetting how deep the 2010 team was. Reinaldo Brenes will do great taking over a starting midfielder spot Ben Speas has all american potential if allowed to shine Scott Caldwell, i think we all saw what he is capable of late in the season. McKauly Tulloch is going to be a MONSTER...my god he scored NINE goals in a game back in Jamaica once. I dont care if he was playing against weak opponents, that's damn impressive. Gabriel Genovesi, has speed (won a state title in track) and size at 6'2" and if let loose could be huge for us. Martin Ontiveros, let's not forget how highly touted of a recruit he was. And let's not forget our last small sized Texan/IMG Academy midfielder (Apaipitakwong). Not to mention Nanchoff and Barson will likely be back, that's eight players that most any program in the country would die for. We are going to be pretty good even without mentioning the incoming freshmen.
-
Just saw this as well...not a complete shocker but definitely good news for the younger Zips/incoming freshmen who will now get an earlier chance to prove themselves. Also, congrats to Kofi and Darlington. Generation Adidas is a great program, and unlike other sports' athletes that leave early, at least these two will still have scholarships waiting for them should they choose to return and finish school. Can you imagine if the NBA had a similar setup?

Lady Zips Competitiveness?
RootforRoo44 replied to UAZipster0305's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Couldn't agree more. And i bet you every single one of those players on our CHAMPIONSHIP team would agree. The 12th man for UA Soccer is huge. If people really like soccer as much as they are now saying, it shouldn't be a problem to come out and support the women's team.
