Thanks....and YES we are going to be covering a lot of hoops. Football was tough this year as we got in the game late but basketball should be good. There is a lot of good talent in the area, girls and guys...hopefully some state titles for the area. Also, anyone interested in Summit County HS football should check out the Turkey Day Summit County All-Star game on Thursday at St. V. No Buchtel players obviously but still should be a very cool event. p.s. The Summit County All-Star game was originally announced as a Summit v. Stark County All-Star game which I was incredibly stoked about. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed when it failed to materialize. Could you do a little digging and find out why Stark County either bailed or was un-invited? No problem...ill get back to you. I was actually wondering the same thing.

+1...and can you imagine what the crowds are going to be like next season?! Ya know because we have the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS playing in Akron The place is going to have an unbelievable atmosphere, and is going to be rockin' for every home game.

I think most of you hit it right on the head, Zeke is doing fine. He's progressing nicely and with his speed, agility, and that nice hook he's developed, he's going to be something special pretty soon. I will say that getting a bit meaner would do him some good.

I hear ya skip-zip, i get texts from friends who went or go to Wooster/Can't State/UA/CSU/etc. that have no affiliation with OSU who just laugh at every Akron loss in any sport. Some even texted me yesterday to let me know how boring the game was (they are out of their minds, that was one of the most exciting sporting events in world history). Also, just being around Northeast Ohio, at Browns games, Indians games, or at the mall, I've seen OSU fans that see me wearing Akron colors and point out that "AKRON SUCKS IN FOOTBALL" (as they laugh) or something along those lines. It's annoying, Buckeyes fans in general (the VAST majority) are douches, and they bring it upon themselves with how they treat fans of other teams. So whenever i see someone wearing Buckeyes gear at Akron sporting events, they get an earful from me and my friends (and usually more people join in) until they leave or they take it off.

I've always heard that the lack of quality facilities was a big reason he left. If that's the case, that's great because Louisville's field is a dump. It's a multipurpose/bad grass/next to a major highway dump.

A group of people along with me will be welcoming the team back when they get back to the U tomorrow morning. People should come to that. Also, why have a simple event? Why not a real parade like they deserve?

Just a heads up, just drove by and the soccer goal is on the steps of Buchtel Hall right now...pretty awesome.

Couldn't agree more...Louisville may be undefeated but one important thing keeps getting let out: They havn't played akron yet. And tomorrow the Zips are going to take care of them and earn that title in that last stop on this hard road they've had to take. Zips-3, Cardinals-0

They weren't checking IDs when we showed up at about 8 Friday night...I'm sure they do later in the evening. I know it won't be 21+ tomorrow for the final. It wasn't even 21+ for the semifinal, they were checking ID's but let kids go with their families into the place. My 14 year old cousin and my 12 year old cousin both got in with their parents.

That was a fantastically entertaining game. Even though we were down, i honestly never worried. We were getting so many opportunities, it was only a matter of time before they started hitting their targets. Their goalkeeper made some great plays at times that could have easily gone through and put that game into blowout territory. Who knows, if Meves pays attention for 100% of the Sunday and the defense doesn't give free lanes down the middle of the field, the Zips could have destroyed them 5-6 to nothing.

He's going to regret it when Porter and the Zips hoist that trophy up around 6:30 pm tomorrow.

Barley House was straight up 90% akron soccer fans...it was a PARTY.

I think he was on the third team. Everyone is talking the guy up wayyy too much. Check out his stats and watch another game of him. We also saw a better goalie than him this year (Creighton's Brian Holt). And the best goalie in the country is Zac MacMath on Maryland. He is fantastic.
