Thought i'd share something i came across today. #4 in DII West Liberty is averaging an absurd 131 points per game. Schedule and results They also took 48 three point shots in a recent game! They have shot 48% from 3-point ranger this year! That's my kind of basketball.

Well Loisville and UNC's mascots are stupid...but Michigan, do they even have one? It really is stupid that they didn't fly Zippy out. My God it's in progressive California, and we have a female mascot. Zippy would fit in great!

Let me add something about Tap House. I found out that they have a band scheduled to play Friday night and they expect the show to go on a little after kick-off. So Barley House it is for most people?

That's true about Zippy, i posted something about that yesterday on another topic and no one seems to care that our mascot isn't going. I think it's a pretty big deal. I'm with you on this. It's ridiculous that they can't find money to send the mascot with the team to the final 4. Don't you guys understand the increase in baggage fees lately? It might cost an extra $300 just to send the Zippy costume over. You're right...and the fireworks for football cost about twice that much for every time they did introductions....even when in front of 250 people like the Buffalo game. Glad UA has their priorities straight.

I'm with you. Any predictions on the combined number of times players will lay on the ground writhing in pain after not being touched by a member of the other team? About 7-10 as usual for a soccer match. But this isn't just any soccer match....it's the final four.....a shot at the national championship game....a lot is on the line. Care to redo your prediction? haha my bad....70-100...better?

I'd rather have the Louisville/Akron final...especially because Louisville is overrated. I'd much rather play them than UNC.

I believe Tap House is still co-owned by the original owner. They used to have a Can't/Akron room that was half each in the back of the of the place. Though that Can't State logo on their website is in the center of the other ones...what the heck?!

Zips jump out fast and score two early. Win 3-1. I agree, 1 red card for michigan. But late in the game that spurs their goal and one goal for us as well.

I'm so torn on if it's better to just spread out and get the game turned on because i'm sure people will jump right on the bandwagon and Zips fever will take hold OR if it's better just to take over those two places and just make it a huge party. I'm leaning towards party.

Barley House should have a few local brews on tap. I went Saturday before the soccer game for a bit as they were the only place that had X-mas Ale on tap, so they should at least still have that and probably GL Dortmunder.

To be fair, the game wasn't their fault. I was there as well and that game their cable provider dropped the ball.

I hope most people still make it, the roads should be pretty good everywhere by now. I may record the thing and post it for you out of towners, matters if i can get out of work in time to grab my HDDV camera.

My question is: IS ZIPPY GOING?! EDIT: Talked to a few people i know, one of whom is someone who would know the answer to this (hint hint). It seems that Zippy will NOT be taking her talents to Santa Barbara. Now this isn't 100% yet but the person i heard this from has good reason to tell the truth on this one and would be the first person to know if Zippy was or was not going. Not supporting students who want to go is one thing (and like i said, i dont think the U should be expected to help pay for students), BUT the school's mascot?! This is just ridiculous, and I hope ZN.o can create a firestorm on this matter that gets UA to do the right thing.

It's their finals week too at UCSB but from everyone i've talked to there, they are all pulling for the Zips anyways. Question is, will they stay behind a few days before going on break?

It's too bad we can't just overwhelm these places and force them to take notice. Or maybe we can, we just organize really well and get everyone on ZN.o to the same place. If 50 people are screaming for the TV's to be put on the Zips and the terrible music to be turned down they'd have to listen. Last year i only made it down for the final and for the semifinal a group of about 20 of us went to brubakers. We ended up getting them to turn it on with sound, give specials to everyone in their leftover Zips cups from the football season promo they had, and by the end of the night when we won on those PK's the entire bar was watching and erupted when we won. I bet 90% of the people in there didn't even intend to watch/know the game was on when they left their houses. Basically: People want to watch a winner, if we act like it's the cool thing and treat them like they are the crazy ones for not knowing or being on board with it, then they will jump on the bandwagon. It just takes a decent sized group to start it.

First, I want to give you high compliments for the College Cup Guide you posted on ASN. I know how much time it takes to do that kind of research, and yours is really well done. Zips fans are really fortunate to have someone like you making the effort to do this. I wish something like this had been available when I flew out to Portland two years ago to see the Zips play in the first round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Second, I'm wondering if you had any expectations for UA helping students in any way to get to Santa Barbara. The reason I ask is because I'm not aware of any university that helps students get to a tournament so far away. It's obviously not as easy as chartering a bus for a one-day trip up to the Motor City Bowl, for example. I just wonder if you know of other universities somehow helping students in a situation similar to this, and what kind of assistance was provided. If there's a precedent somewhere, it should at least be brought to UA's attention for future consideration. 1) Thank you, it took a little bit of time but hopefully it helps a few people have an awesome time out in Cali. 2) I dont really expect UA to help at all, and i dont know of any universities that would or have done it. The only precedent would be last year busing everyone down there, but obviously it's a bit different this year. I was thinking today that a great thing would be to get one of those big companies in Akron (Goodyear, GoJo, Infocision) to sponsor the Rowdies and subsidize or pay for the trips (just plane flights) for at least the final. They could also have custom Rowdies shirts made and have their company name front and center on the chests of them and back. Not only would it be great publicity for the company as it would surely be picked up by a ton of media outlets, but it would also be on television each time they showed the rowdies, which would be alot. The easy thing about the whole plan is the airport is literally within walking distance (and sight) of Harder Stadium. So there's my solution and it would cost about 300 dollars per person. 30,000 dollars to fly 100 of the top rowdies (selected by the group by who's gone to the most events), and i guarantee that would be cheaper than any television ad.
