If you assume defensive rebounds are easier to come by than offensive rebounds, ORU had 8 offensive rebounds so even if we held them to 0 our total would only have been 22. Another key statistic is that ORU turned the ball over 21 times to our 6. That's 15 less chances to get a defensive rebound. It was actually 39-20 in rebounds according to the official box score. I don't think i've ever seen that many team rebounds in a game though.

Also, those refs deserved an earful for a few of those terrible calls. Bo Boroski has to be one of the worst refs we get every year. He calls an average amount in Fouls Per Game but he seems to really step it up against Akron. That block was AWESOME!!! That was the best game all year to be at as a fan. Nothing better than watching Alex, Zeke, and Bardo hustle their a$$es off picking up their teammates on defense. I'm sure coach Dambrot agrees!

The year Boz swung that elbow. I wouldn't count out the game when Wood hit the game tying three-ball before Can't wont it on the last shot. We were down a lot and we really fought hard in the second half. That would have been the best Zips win of all-time in basketball if we would have pulled that one off. And it was pandemonium in the JAR late in that game, best crowd i've ever seen there.

Great news! I have to laugh at the Hookah bar though....lol Akron finally enters the 90's!!! Actually there were a few Hookah bars recently downtown. I think the one is still open a few doors down from Davinci's Pizza. Met some friends there once (I wouldn't pay for flavored smoke, i can just light different kinds of things on fire in a bonfire for that...and for free) and they tried to charge me 2.50 for a water. I replied "are you high?!" and then i realized how stupid of a question that was.

do you really think ohio state is really stealing recruits from us? They recruit more on a national scale. If they had some bad seasons that would help the likes of Penn State, Michigan, Florida, Texas. The teams stealing recruits from us are our conference opponents and middle of the road AQ teams like Syracuse and Cinci. Keep 'em comin They have stolen recruits from us in soccer (well not anymore), basketball, football, baseball...etc. Seriously, it happens all of the time. I don't have time to dig up examples, so ill let someone else (probably ZachtheZip).

Personally, I think it would be good to have an appropriately named thread for this subject if only the discussion could be confined to this thread and not spill over into other threads specifically about the Zips. Of course, this thread and all others like it really belong in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes and not in Akron Zips Football, because it's off topic about Akron Zips football. This subject is equivalent to trying to discuss politics or religion. People have their own beliefs, they don't really want to hear what the other side has to say, and they will argue emotionally and endlessly if someone else dares challenge their beliefs. Please, can we keep the Akron Zips Football forum exclusively about Akron Zips football? Then again, if a bunch of Nazi's started defending Mein Kampf on JewNation.org, I could see why some board members would be annoyed.

It's still VERY early. Who knows, they surprised us all last summer with the late work, hopefully they can at worst do the same this year.
