I got one of these as well....gonna have to blame Can't on this one. Has to be their fault. -
Thanks, glad someone gave him the link. It's been pretty quiet around there though. Anyone that has FB should come visit, we could use some more support on the gameday walls, most other teams destroy us in fan support.

Rosa Parks became active in the civil rights movement 12 years before the famous bus incident, and was an active member of both the NAACP and Voters League. I'm sure that she was worn out after a hard day of work, as most working people are. But if she ever said that the only reason that she didn't give up her seat on that bus was because she was too tired to walk to the back of the bus, I'm sure she said it with a wink and a nod. Those who really knew her have said over the years that she had a wonderful sense of humor, and fought the civil rights battles with grace and dignity.I was wondering how long it would take for someone to call Rosa a liar. This is a stupid argument. As a History major i can tell you that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Rosa Parks had indeed planned her move and only days before the incident had met with other civil rights leaders/activists at a meeting headed by RCNL leader TRM Howard. This is not even mentioning the multiple instances of other African Americans doing the same thing years before Rosa Parks did, all of which Parks had direct knowledge of as she worked with the NAACP. Regardless of if it was planned or not, it was a bold move for a woman to make.

Nothing like putting a Can't douche in his place.

That's exactly what this move is about. Still though, who cares? It's not like they are going to clone the faculty and then fire all of the originals for free clone labor like some sci-fi movie (Surrogates is great btw!).People are way too touchy on things, there are far worse things our government is doing/wants to do. Plus it's not mandatory, you could always work elsewhere. There's no need for DNA to conduct a state or federal criminal background check; anyone who's been arrested is on file by name and fingerprint. Collecting DNA opens the door to discrimination based on genetics...that's the problem here (blacks and disabled people are free to go work somewhere else too, right?). Congress has already passed a law against genetic discrimination by employers and insurance companies, so who's the first to try to defy it? Good old Akron U. I dont know what America you live in but it's not African Americans and Disabled folks getting shut out for jobs. They are the first ones hired if they are even close to being hireable for the position. Not that i think this will open up any discrimination because who hires people without some sort of face to face interview anyways? (well at least it doesn't happen very often). Now explain to me this DNA test that shows that people are disabled? Does ADD and paralysis show up on these things nowadays? Also i'm not too sure about the race thing being possible with DNA but if you can tell race with DNA, wouldn't that keep fraud down? Ya know similar to the kid that is 1/16 African American who puts his race as "black" on his FAFSA and gets more money from the government than me.

Let's not put this on the shoulders of 19 year old kids that are trying their best, but rather on the shoulders of 30-40-50 year old coaches who are under-performing. I love these kids and would love to see them with a real coaching staff, especially on offense.Exactly. I have to think that if Nicely is allowed to throw 30 passes tomorrow we'll win big. I have confidence in our players far more than i do in our coaching staff that seems to handicap these kids.

The Key to Beating K.e.n.t. State
RootforRoo44 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
EXACTLY! I think the talent is here, at least as much as most other MAC teams, but if you look at my past posts, I've pointed out many examples of poor coaching. A new coach needs to light a fire under some butts and have the players show some enthusiasm. Like Captains previous example, the kids don't seem to care!I dont know what you're watching then. This team gave up a few games ago and 3 out of every 5 players dont show any heart or enthusiasm. We need to get them motivated. -
Wow whoever filmed that must have been standing right next to me haha.

Michael Jordan's Son keeps his NikesThe University of Central Florida has lost its $3 million exclusive contract with adidas after basketball player Marcus Jordan's insisted on wearing his father, Michael's, Nike Air Jordans for the school's opening basketball game, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Well first off i thought the goal that they scored that was called back (due to being offsides) happened right before our 2nd goal. Buti believe
-
That is AWESOME news if it's true. But how did the NCAA rule on a MAC conference rule? Gotta love the noise makers...i say we finally bring out the pots and pans and makes some real Futbol fan noise.

Zips #8 in Initial Mid-Major Top 25
RootforRoo44 replied to Zipgrad1990's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Just wait until we are on the real top 25 list....it's only a matter of time. -
Really, you're wrong, and as usual your response was self-righteous and sanctimonious. How about a couple more uses of the word "really" while you're at it? A rivalry isn't any kind of a rivalry until more than 10 or so of the fans from each side care about said rivalry. I'll say it one more time for those of you who clearly missed my point. The supposed UA/Can't State rivalry is a joke. Nobody beyond about ten posters here give a rat's behind about this "rivalry", and this "rivalry" is part and parcel of what has kept UA football small time in the minds of fans everywhere. A rivalry with a school that has won nothing in, well, forever. There's a winner for you....not. You can have your silly little "rivalry" game that nobody cares about, and I'll continue to root for better.Let's see how this grand "rivalry" game draws this weekend. It's a huge rivalry right? How many fans do you suppose will show up for this grand "rivalry"? 12K? 15K? 10 posters?! Are you crazy? I know more than 10 of us on here care a ton about this because i know 10 people personally who care about this game enough to tailgate 24 HOURS BEFORE THE GAME with me.
-
+1 AMEN BROTHER
-
You have no clue what a "rivalry game" is.Really? Should the rivalry have meant something, some time, ever? Will you feel better about this season if the Zips somehow beat their cousins from Portage County?I will...beating Can't and seeing their sad faces after a loss makes up for most anything. And i hate to attack another Zips fan but if the Cant/Akron game doesn't mean a ton to you than i dont know how you're a Zips fan because this game is what i wait for all year long. There is the football meeting, the 2 basketball games each spring, and that great game at Canal Park every year for baseball. They are like mini holidays to me and my friends and have been since highschool.

Yeah, right! I heard Glenn Beck say the same thing! Well i guess intelligent people like Glenn and myself think alike.btw he would agree that and they are a bunch of "far left loons"

Our defense played well for 3 quarters. Nicely played just as well for the entire game. I put the majority of the blame on our WRs cheating us out of 2 BEAUTIFUL TD passes. Given NIU's heavy running attack, it was a matter of time before our D wore down and started giving up big plays. I saw a lot of good tackling today, but because they were stuck on the field so much and so often, they were dead by the 4th.A good football team/good defense doesn't miss tackles period. It's not like we were playing Ohio State and their 3rd string was in (which was still better than our starters) late in the game and wearing us down. It's about time these guys start making those big plays on offense and stopping them on defense, the excuses are ridiculous. How about we try playing with a little fire?BTW you are right in the fact that Nicely looked very good most of the time and the receivers mostly looked terrible.
-
It's time to start blaming the players as well as the coaches. There was a lack of effort today by many players and it was easy to see. No concentration, no focus, lazy tackling and no effort to pursue. That kind of stuff wont cut it.
