Oblowhard? Really? I mean really...c'mon man! Unless you're talking about Kanye West, leave the petulant sociopath speech at home.

Thanks for posting this Jrship35. I was going to post some of these stats at the end of the season for some objective views of our progress (or lack there of) under Bowden's tenure. I think for the sake of analysis it's also important to include all the "firsts" or rather "disaster-streaks" that Bowden and Co. have ended: 2012 QB holds the passing record at UA 2013 Broke an embarrassing road-game losing streak 2013 Won second game in one season in almost 4 years 2013 Beat teams at our level (or worse) 2013 Regained the Wagon Wheel 2013 Beat a higher ranked team (Toledo) 2014 First season we went 4-2 for the first time in the Stadium's History 2014 Beat a Power-5 Team The biggest thing that we can hope for is to add to this list. We've already begun to continue some of these postitives this season, like winning a road game. The goal should start at getting to 6-6, which hasn't been done in almost 7-years. If we can reach 6 wins with more games on the schedule, we should shoot for 7. So and so forth. This team is being turned around. I know patience is difficult, but if Bowden can't get it done...I really do fear that no-one can.

Go Zips! Don't dwell on this one, on to the next one at EMU. Not to look to far ahead, but anything can happen in the MAC.
-
Settling for 3 doesn't win games coach. I'm so sick and tired of losing to the Bobkittens.
-
That also should be the goal. But first things first: BEAT OHIO!
-
Zips finally pull it off against the Bobkittens: 28-14.

They create that of course. But I was answering the contention that news reporting businesses (let's not forget that's what they are) somehow have an obligation to do something. They don't. I'm sure Fox News has a code of Standards and Ethics as well, but they are far from objective or "fair and balanced". But the point is that in attempting to be "fair and balanced" or "50/50" or reporting on "good" and "bad" things within a community is itself, as a concept, inherently biased.
-
Though I'm sympathetic to what you're saying A-Zip, a newspaper doesn't have an obligation to report the "good" and the "bad". A newspaper has the obligation to do nothing really. Really, they don't even have to have an obligation to report objectively...they're a business. "Good" and "bad" are relative quantities and are inherently bound to bias. News organizations that attempt to use the "good" vs "bad" formula, sometimes they call it "fair and balanced" or "50/50", aren't any of the above. They're almost inherently biased because in trying to provide each one of those things they must conform to a specific bias in order to do so. Now I'm sympathetic to the idea that there should be a level of journalistic integrity, but that's an entirely different discussion that would require talking about advertiser's influence on media content.

I wonder if whenever State Ohio University, or the Browns play a night game if there isn't coverage on almost all of the sports section/in the paper. I think we already know the answer to that question.
-
That's the way it should be, to be honest. The AKRON Beacon Journal should be the authority on everything Akron sports, College, HS etc...

We'll forgive you Keener ? I want to apologize too for being, abrasive, sometimes. But oi hearts are all in the right place. We want the Zips to win. Period. Hopefully they can keep some momentum going so we don't have to go at this again ?

I know, but weren't we told in the preseason that we were going to try to run a read option?
-
Good luck finding the story about the Zips decisive victory in the ABJ today. It's a 100word story buried on C6, while State Ohio University has front, above the fold story, along with Can't state. Unbelievable. I mean it's just absolutely unbelievable how much of a rag the ABJ is.

The read-one and run. The bunched formations with a QB read-option, that was almost always a QB run. It looke like we went back to more of the spread lastnight, with 4 WR, 5 WR, putting the HB into a recieving position and draws. The play calling was considerably more aggressive than in both the Pitt and Oklahoma games. I thought we utilized the middle of the field more than throwing to the sidelines. One criticism that has been levied against Bowden and co. since the 2012 season, is the overly conservative play-calling when we have the lead. I like how we took shots down the field even with a lead. Now the caveat I'd have to my amateur observations, is that Lousiana seemed to give us those deep balls by bringing the safeties up?

No it wasn't as note worthy as a victory against an ACC team, but there's a very good reason why I said this win may be more important than the win against Pitt Last season. 1) We didn't have a QB that has proven himself; I think we found one. Hopefully the two-year battle is finished. 2) The offensive play calling was TERRIBLE this season, the coaches seemed like they had no idea what they were doing; tonight it changed 3) WRs have looked clueless for a good portion of the past three games, tonight (though a little off) it looked like legitimate WRs were playing for the Zips. 4) We had a complete game going into conference play, which starts at home against the Bobkittens. Last year the passing game against Pitt was almost non-existant. Kyle Pohl got pulled after lackluster QB play and poor decisions. TW13 didn't play much better. The Zips had defense, and a Pitt team that hadn't prepared adequately to stop Hundley. Yes the Pitt win was good, but I do think this is a more important win for the Zips. Last night was the first time they looked like the team that everyone predicted to finish second in the MAC East, and we won it without conservative play calling. Time will tell of course, but hopefully this game sets the tone for the season.

We've got to find a way to take down BG.
-
HUGE win for the Zips. IMO, bigger than the Pitt win last year.
-
ESPN3 announcer: "The ceiling is high for this Akron team in the MAC." Go Zips!
-
Who's down there? Give us an update on the stadium, it looks like it's emptying out on tv...
-
Do we need him on offense!?
-
HAHAHAHA! GO ZIPS!
-
Something about QBs with the number 13

DEFENSE SHOWS UP FOR THE STOP!
-
Is anyone gonna bust me this week on my fond comments about TW13? Most important thing though, is go Zips! It's still early, defense is holding nicely. Can the offense keep the defense off the field? DeAndre Scott is going to come up with an INT tonight.
-
Sad thing is...my ESPN phone app notified me of the TD before my streaming ESPN 3. Stupid. But this offense looks completely different. Some wonderfully drawn up plays, Woodson didn't seem to get phased by the incomplete passes to open recievers. Here's hoping #13 can keep it up.
