Gotta teach Dylan to write better. But ANY bowl, was extremely important for this program. There were a lot of mocking comments, even members on this board who said we shouldn't accept it because of the cost. What it does for this team, considering where it's come from and what the 5-year seniors have had to endure, this bowl is is the best thing that could have happened for the Zips.

Agreed. Though it was nice to have the local yuk yuk ESPN Cleveland, State Ohio University honk talking Zips football for once.

If anyone paid attention to the ABJ this weekend, you would have seen this. Not good, when a group of your own alumni studnes and faculty are taking out 3 full page ads to call your leadership into question.

What a great idea. This always annoyed me, along with the announcer at the football games who always says "I can't hear your, louder!" We get it...the stadium is empty, don't rub it in.
-
It might just be the inner NEO sports fan inside of me
-
Is it just me or do these announcers seem pretty one sided?
-
According to ESPN3, it is "blacked out" on ESPN3 streaming. This is kinda unbelievable horse-manure. How can you blackout a game to subscribers in the area for which the team is. Absolute horse-manure.
-
The announcers commented about how the Akron fans could clearly be heard yelling "we want clemson". I love it!

Here is a link to ESPN3 (ESPNU) coverage of the game. It's in the schedule part. You're able to use this if you have One of the listed Cable providers.

Reading is controlled by the parietal lobe of the brain, while decision making is controlled by the prefrontal cortex.

If I were the Zips, I'd hang up all the predictions...along with that article, in the workout rooms and locker rooms. Put a giant projection of it on the wall of the practice field. Go Zips.

Here. It's pretty generic, but it does have date and Bowl Logo. BNCFREESHIP code if you want free shipping and don't live in the area to pick it up.

Did you even bother reading the other post? Did you even bother even researching what Groupthink is in psychological theory? One of the prime case studies often given for groupthink is Pearl Harbor. You don't even have to venture as far as a psychology 101 textbook, you can use the internet to confirm this example. Way to dismiss an arguement because you don't even bother comprehending it.

I'm not going to the game, but I am going to support the school. I'm buying a T-shirt from the school, and I'm going to make a donation to the band. Who's with me?

I want you to note "my way or the highway" is also a problem of groupthink, perhaps "our way or the highway". You've got to understand the premise of what I'm saying which is based on groupthink. Apply what you just said to all the disasters that occured because of groupthink. There have been military leaders, presidents, and businessess that have all fallen to groupthink because they were of all the same way of thinking/mindsets etc. I mean do you think the poor decisions that came to head at Pearl Harbor was the result of military leaders not having success needed to achieve high levels of military command? And that's the problem...having all people at the table, from all basically the same background, or way of appointment IS inherently the problem in groupthink.

First: Education (as in the act of learning, and teaching) isn't a business. Though it does have something in common with business: it's a system, with many complex interactions between many variables. Second: Groupthink is universally bad, which is really what ZeeTeeZip and the editorial article is referring too. Groupthink is a psychologial phenomena that happens in groups, which often yields irrational, poorly planned and executed, decisions. There are many case studies to show how bad group think is, including some from the business world: The Bay of Pigs Invastion, The lack of Precaution at Pearl Harbor are a couple examples I remember reading about in psychology that I took at UA. Group think can be avoided by maintaining a diverse group of decision makers, where power is not isolated in one particular place, and all invested parties have a voice at the table. This allows for conversation, and give members the opportunity to consider things they may never had considered before. To arrive at the best fact driven decisions, participants need to leave politics, bias, beliefs, opinions, feelings etc...at the door. This is difficult for people to do, which is why you must rely on a diverse group of people to help arrive at the best solution. Science itself is a model for how to eliminate those things: where there is diverse thought and diverse disagreement; those with the best arguements that are supported by the best evidence win out after convincing others withing the group. A group of yes men, or a group of the "Good Ol' Boys" is not a prudent way of making decisions.

Or society does. Football coaches should not be the most highly paid individual on a college campus, at public universities.

Good Call! I must have missed those when we were losing games and didn't feel like updating it.

Agreed.

Updated with Bowl Games. Ready for some #MACtion!

Thanks for the info! I had no idea. If addidas was what Porter wanted, than I'm more okay with it.

Not to mention just because you listen to a song, or even like a song, doesn't mean you perscribe to everything in that song. "Pumped Up Kicks" has a nice tune to it, but it's about shooting kids because of their shoes...it was one of the most popular songs in 2012. I also am a fan of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" which was used in a "Made in Detroit" commercial during the superbowl a couple of years ago. That doesn't mean I'm a rapper, or that I perscribe to being "white-trash" as is mentioned in the song. The Zips used an Eminem a song a couple of years ago that blantantly talks about selling coke (as in cocaine)...that doesn't mean the Zips perscribe to selling illegal drugs. Just saying Edit: Yes I've corrected rapper for Wrapper. -
Doesn't the school get a payout from the league from all the other conference bowls too? Wouldn't we need to factor in all bowl-season money into the equation before we decide if it's good or not? I remember this article from earlier in the year pointing out that the MAC had a net gain of some $12-million over the previous season. HustleBelt mentioned it here. If this is true, that roughly each MAC team is making almost $800,000 more because of the existence of the CFB Playoff; doesn't it make more sense to be one of the teams in the bowl, than not?
