  1. AKRON TOUCHDOWN!!!
  2. It doesn't look like any team is going to be easy for us this year. But, I've got to say despite the records, MAC teams have been holding tough (it seems) more than they have other seasons. The scores are close until eventually the better team with depth pulls away. It seems in the past, teams would blow MAC teams out the entire game, and some points would be had against 3rd stringers.
  3. Replica meaning it's the exact same design, . Authentic meaning it's not a rip off, produced by the same company that produces the helmets. I don't think its an oxymoron at all. Kinda like how they gave out those #7 Jerseys last season. Those weren't authentic, they were produced by some company other than Addidas.
  4. +1. The Roo helmet is very cool, and $200 less than the Chrome Z. I'd like to see them offer the authentic replicas of the Black Jerseys as well.
  5. Scarborough must have fired the proofreaders. But seriously...why does our alma mater gotta be a joke ALL THE TIME!
  6. I wonder how many staff and faculty positions and programs will be cut to come up with the money to fund this rebranding. $2.3 million over three years seems like a far better prospect.
  7. Who cares? Nothing's new. This topic is getting really old, really quick. Unless we really have anything, and I mean ANYTHING constructive to talk about that might lead to some positive action; than we need to stop.
  8. I agree. When Can't played State Ohio University I watched the broadcast, and they INCORRECTLY said that "Can't State was the only MAC school to beat State Ohio University back when it was called Buchtel College".... It stuck with me because it was a pretty epic failure.
  9. No. No it is not. But it's a good question that you ask. We can hope that there is going to be.
  10. You're right. My mistake, I'm getting my disappointing Zips perfromances mixed up.
  11. Wasn't Getsy a better passer than Pohl? I've never seen Pohl throw like this in the middle of the field. I'm halfway joking with that too
  12. Last time we played Lousiana-Lafayette I remember it being a major let-down. It was after the Michigan game and we lost by less than a touchdown. I know most won't agree with me, but I firmly believed that we should have won that game. Poor QB play was a major contributor to us losing that play, we were down early by 14 because of turnovers led by Kyle Pohl. It took Hirschman coming off the bench and leading the team to two TDs that got us back into the game, the second of which he apparently injured himself on by celebrating, which we never saw him again on the field for Akron. This game is winnable IMHO, but like you said Lance, time mangement. The offense absolutely HAS to find a way to stay on the field. The defense, if given enough time to rest throughout the game, can keep the score close. As much of a fan as I was of Chapman in the preseason, the experiment needs to end. The QB leading this offense has to be #13. The last time we had a #13 leading the offense, it sparked our hope for the future of the Zips. It's time for #13 to do that again.
  13. CMU giving Syracuse Hell, looks like it's going into overtime! NIU with an INT and touchdown early on State Ohio University.
  14. We were up by a lot. Garbage time.
  15. Apparently he got the memo on the Chapman experiment and TW13 has started the whole second half, gunslinging the ball around and seems to have the best control on this offense than any of the other QBs.
  16. It's now 28-9, you're giving up way too early. After that bullet for the TD, looks better than Pohl. Pohl throws Redzone INTs all the time also. Bottom line is: we need better play from our QB. Coach needs to committ to a QB. At the moment it looks like it should be Woodson or Pohl. Chapman hasn't done anything to prove he should even be a backup. Pohl can't stay healthy, and Woodson needs to live to play another down.
  17. Agreed. The Zips in general are terrible.
  18. Of course he does...doesn't his foundation and The University have a agreement that calls for him to endorse the U?
  19. Shakespeare. Very nice DiG.
  20. And that was part of the video that made me cringe. The poly wasn't being explained in the context of plymer, polyester, polygon, polygamy, polymerase etc., it was direcly being explained in the context of polytechnic. I mean it's obvious because it says Ohio's Polytechnic University...and no one knows, or really cares, about what a polytechnic university is. I mean University IS the actual name, not a tagline, and it comes from the latin word universus, which means whole or entire, why not explain that in the 2-min video? Oh right, that's because students qualified to attend UA already know what a University is. I mean it's just my opinion, but if you have to explain what you are to the audience, it cheapens your appeal. I'll informally survey my college bound biomed students and let you know what they think of polytechnique.
  21. It'll get Akron a few more looks because of a tag line? Malarkey. Universities are a known quantity. "Polytechnique Institutions" are unknown quantities (I mean even the freakin new commercials have to explain what polytechnic means because no-one knows what it means).
  22. Wouldn't that be a SO? First year: 2014, RS year: 2015, SO year: 2016.
  23. I wasn't around for the Brookhart era, but didn't he kinda inherit the players that he had success with from the previous staff? After Frye and Getsy and Hixon graduate, he pretty much floundered in mediocrity? In fact, Brookhart started out good, and regressed as far as record is concerned... 6-5 (Frye) 7-5 (Getsy) 5-7 4-8 5-7 3-9 (After Brookhart) 1-11 1-11 (Shall Remain nameless) 1-11 (Best performing Quarterback in Akron's history played in thise season) 5-7 5-7 Akron's biggest problem isn't Terry Bowden. It's the decade of mediocrity and worse that's the problem. I mean I'm concerned too, but I by no means think that Bowden is the problem, because I haven't heard any suggestion as to who could have done better, that were showing any interest in coaching at Akron. If anything Bowden has brought some sort of stability that hasn't been seen in Akron in almost 5 years. We're good enough to win 5-6 games...It's taken the next step I'm becoming increasingly worried that Bowden, or any coach for that matter, will be able to get us to. I'll conceed that Milwee is a problem that needs to be fixed.
  24. Beautiful pictures! Thanks for posting!
