Great win by the Zips to sweep the regular season against their arch rivals. The win also solidified their hold on third place as the 3 teams immediately behind them Kent, WMU and Ball State all lost. Zips are now 1.5 game ahead.
Zips took care of business as they should have after a terrible first quarter. The CMU fans sure can't be happy going from first to worst. They're down to 9 scholarship players and have lost their whole sophomore recruiting class to the portal I think.
I don't quite understand the strategy of working the ball down low in the post to a guy in the last minute who can't shoot free throws. (See Tree and Big Dog, too).
She returned tonight in a victory over the EMUs. Didn't shoot very well - 12 pts, 7 rebs, 10 assists. Played 39 minutes. Apparently she wasn't injured badly.
To me, just an unacceptable performance. No excuse for starting out like they did in a rivalry game at home. Dug a hole they couldn't crawl out of. Terrible performances by our guards, especially compared to the Flushes. ๐คฌ
I certainly agree about Wednesday and they did have their chances today. Toledo's run at the beginning of the 3rd quarter changed the game, though the Zips battled back a bit. Zips really needed one of these two home games to avoid dropping back into the pack. Going up to WMU looks more daunting now.
Short is still short and the back iron is still the back iron. ๐ Ferrell's two missed FTs when she shot for Corcoran were critical. ๐ It was an ugly performance overall.
I've always thought they should have a much bigger American flag and pole to the left of the scoreboard. The flags at the closed end are pretty small for the size of the venue and don't make much of an impact.
