  1. What is Ball's injury anyway?
  2. I sure hope we get at least one uniform that is blue and gold. I get the alternate uni trend, but it's ridiculous that the men's BB team doesn't have one uni that is the school colors. (I'd like to see some gold pants on the FB team, too.)
  3. They started this silly branding idea in 2013. From their game notes: "Entering its third year, the New York Bulls Initiative (#NYBI) continues to broaden the awareness of The State University of New York, Buffalo athletics in an effort to build America’s next big time college athletics brand...this initiative will position The State University of New York, Buffalo as the premier athletic department in the state." Anybody calling them anything but Buffalo? I believe the AD who started it has moved on to greener pastures. I guess at least they have a basketball uniform featuring the actual school colors, though.
  4. Miracle Woods, WMU's leading scorer, also missed the the game for reasons I do not know. Interestingly, neither school's game stories mention anything about either player. Not exactly in depth coverage. Kind of significant news when both teams play without their best player?
  5. Last coach to leave Iowa State with a winning record was Earle Bruce. Six seasons, last 3 were winning. ISU has a .375 winning percentage since 1979. Good luck Coach Campbell. At least you will be paid well.
  6. Latest info on lack of Bowl eligible teams. NCAA meeting today to discuss options. 6-6 may be good enough. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/25385705/with-40-bowls-spots-expected-open-ncaa-to-decide-how-to-fill-slots
  7. OK article, but you'd think GT would know that Woodson has only started one game, not two, which he says in both of the first two pararaphs. Good grief. The guy covered all 4 games.
  8. Not to mention the fact that with a majority of the crowd huddling under cover 5-deep or more at the edges of the lower deck and standing in the concourse to stay dry, the televisions near the concession stands were not even on allowing the fans to see any of the game. I mentioned it twice to the kids in Guest Services and they were totally unaware. Another technical glitch? Good grief.
  9. Not exactly a revelation. I like most of his resume, but would feel better if he had been an AD at a university with a football program.

  11. I like the new court. I'm happy to see the original Fear the Roo design used. I never understood why they changed it or why they didn't do a better job of attaching it to the U of A name on apparel, either. The original is creepier looking and better lends itself to the "fear" aspect. I've never bought anything with the revised logo on it. Just my little pet peeve, though. It does make me wonder which logo they will use next, though
  12. Maybe one in Las Vegas too, according to Joe D. No details.
  13. KD just announced on Joe Dunn's radio show that the Zips will play in the preseason NIT. Probably 4 games. 1 home, 3 road. Likely opponents - Wisc Green Bay (home), Arkansas and Villanova. Mentioned a couple others, too.
  14. I see #126 Toledo is hosting #64 Michigan tonight in the WNIT. Toledo (1709) outdrew Michigan (1028) by almost 700 for the first game, although it was far below UT's 3679 average (Michigan's is 2262). With their overall attendance, apparently UT can justify the price of the bid and throw some added support to their program.
  15. The average attendance aspect is a major deciding factor in both tournaments, although it lessens in the later rounds when the NCAA feels the matchups will be more attractive and can safely book other sites. Toledo was considered big enough in terms of attendance to garner hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament last year even though they were not in it. They proved that by outdrawing most of the other sites. It is also a major reason they are hosting an opening round NIT game this year. Wright State's RPI is 83 and Toledo's is 126. Unfortunately, Wright State only averages 663 a game so to Toledo they go. The NIT has no seedings on their brackets, so you I don't think you can automatically assign seeds to the bracket exactly like they are in the NCAA. If you go purely by RPI for the four teams (K-State is 64, Akron 89), the Zips should be playing Wright State and Toledo should be at K-State. For what it's worth, if the Zips win they will play a lower RPI team than the winner of the Toledo/Wright State game. They both outdraw the Zips, however, so it will still be hard for us to get a home game. It's not right, but that's the way it goes. OK, that's more stats than I expected to research. Going to take a nap now.
  16. Of course it does. It rules in the women's NCAA Tournament, too. Look at where all the first and second round games are being held. All are being hosted by big schools who are highest seed in that section of the bracket. I'm sure they are trying to maximize attendance, but as I recall from last year the numbers most places were not all that great.
  17. Toledo averages 3819 attendance per women's home game. They hosted a first round of the NCAA last year and drew better than most of the major schools who hosted and the Rockets weren't even in the tourney. Kansas State averages 4295. That is the big reason they are playing home games, The Zips average 771. Even Y-Town averaged 1498. Kansas State finished tied for 7th (7-11) in a 10 team league. Hopefully this won't be like playing Purdue at their place last year. As far as the men's NIT side, there are only 32 teams. The WNIT has 64. According to K-State's release the game will be broadcast on-line for free on K-StateHD.TV. Game time is 7 pm CDT http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/031715aaa.html
  18. The silver unis debuted in 2011-12, so a change is long overdue.
  19. I know it's a minor issue to some, but it's bugged me since they went to the silver(?) and blue. I understand alternative uniforms, but can't we have at least ONE uniform that is blue and gold? I heard about budget constraints last year when I brought it up, but there have been purple editions since then, so it can be done. Doesn't LeBron's company supply their uniforms anyway? I'd pay for them on my own if I could. (Thanks for listening )
  20. I received a phone call on Friday (and I think an e-mail I've since deleted) from my IMG ticket rep that there was a game Monday - time TBA and reminded me that I had already paid for the tickets in my season package. I don't know if the MAC allows it, but they should discount the GA tickets for the first round to encourage attendance to this "short notice" scheduled game. Of course you would still need to communicate that somehow to the masses.
  21. Game time Monday is 7 pm.
  22. I find it kind of interesting that P.J. Carstensen who did our game last night in Can't that wasn't over until 9:15 pm or so, also did today's noon game between the Hoosiers and Spartans in Bloomington, Indiana. That's a heck of a turnaround in terms of travel. It's about a six hour drive from here to Bloomington and the earliest commercial flight arrival time this morning to Indy from CLE I could find (based on next Saturday's flights) for today was 9:30 am and not direct. Then it is a 1 hour drive to Bloomington from the airport. Cutting it close I would think. I've seen Larry Scirotto do the same type of thing. I guess it happens a lot, but I'm not sure I'd want that guy doing my game a little more than 12 hours later the next day. Maybe they're all pilots, too? Definitely road warriors.
  23. My exact thoughts. He was obviously unprepared. Don't forget Deejay (after the color guy just referred to the pronunciation guide), Anteeno and a mangling of Robotham. I did notice, however, that in the UA game notes pronunciation guide they have Antino's name as an-TE-no. I'm not sure that is as clear as it could be. I would think, though, that the SID covers some of those harder names with the announcers before the game.
  24. They did mention the reason for the purple uniforms during the game, although that is even more reason to not stumble on the Peters name on the jerseys.
  25. Well, that is what they get paid to do. All three of them are Big Ten refs, too. I only count three steps after the last dribble, but I believe that is still one too many.
