Mute as in emitting no sound or Moot as in pointless? Either is ok with me!

I was thinking about this exposure comment. Since I can only watch most games streaming on the computer (live in VA) it's a thrill to actually watch one on TV. What I have noticed is that if I can watch them on TV they are most likely going to lose. If I just counted right, since 2012/13, the Zips are 11-14 on national TV (ESPN, espn2, espnU, FS1' CBSS, broadcast). Probably not the best exposure for the Zips. Maybe this is why I always laugh a little at the making a run, changing to a better conference, afraid to play us comments on here.

First of all...I like watching soccer. But 4 hrs of no goals last night was a bit tedious. The one bright spot in the night was the AKRowdies. They were fun to hear, and they kept it up all night. Only Akron was represented in the fan base last night. Thanks AKRowdies for making the trip and representing the Zips!

The Villanova entire arena is sold out on a season ticket basis. Tickets are only thru the secondary market. Stub Hub had some last week. $35-40 really high up. $100-150 down low. I decided to stay home and watch it in comfort. It's about a 5 hr drive for me.

Don't know about the other Tech colleges, but Va Tech walked away from the polytechnic label. Growing up in VA...it was always known as VPI. The point is, if others are dropping the label, why would UA adopt it. My other point...if you have to explain what it means, it's probably not a good choice. I'm sure very few college bound students could explain it.

Seems to me that there is some wiggle room between "we are not proposing a name change" and the more absolute, we will not change the name! Just Say'in'

How great to be a Zips Fan this morning! Only time I yelled at the TV was when Gladden was on the court! Just thinking....Is this a better TEAM without Tree? If so, what do you do if he magically reappears? Can't wait for Tuesday night.

Seems like the conversation goes to very lofty heights, but in reality, very simple things would change everyones opinion of this year. How about playing a second half like the first. How about not having 8 scoreless minutes. How about making a free throw in a game that is tied. How about a few minutes of defense. Personally I would like to see a simple timeout called when the other team is having a run. No amount of money, or conference change, or bigger arena would change these things. Just changing one to two would have changed the season though.

Simple Poll: Where Do You Stand on Abreu?
VAZip replied to UAZip0510's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Absolutely not...not because he doesn't deserve a second chance, but because all the ill prepared announcers on TV will only talk about that all year. One good point...it might replace the Coach D coached LeBron thing, that gets old -
3 Things: 1. I would rather spend my time concentrating on the Lady's who are in a real tournament and have been playing well. 2. Saw IPFW play a week ago on TV and they looked easily as good as the Zips...seemed to have a planned offense 3. Not sure how it works....but a quick count of the last 3 yrs, when the Zips play on espn, espn2, ESPU, or broadcast TV they are slightly under 500. How long will we be offered games? Just so no one thinks I am a negative fan...I just drove 500 miles each way and attended every zip game since the last Can't game, both M and W. And I will do so next year regardless. Go Zips

How about high def streaming of the game to every IPhone in the JAR. That way the students never have to risk injury by lifting their heads. They could Snap Chat that experience to the person next to them who became a Friend, because they Tweeted they would be there. LOL...OmG

Having only followed the Zips for 3 seasons now, I don't have a very deep well of knowledge or respect of anything that has happened in the past. In some ways that makes me more like the average viewer of Saturday afternoon basketball on ESPN. I asked myself this morning, if large amounts of my money didn't go to out of state tuition, would I choose to watch the Zips like I do when Butler or VCU play? Have to say...probably not. I must admit that I'm not a fan of KD, not only do I not understand his offensive strategies...I find him a little disconnected and quirky. I thought it was my basketball IQ that didn't allow me to see what we do offensively...but then I here the announcer in the first SC game say everything I thought. "No flow", " no cuts", "think they would have learned from the Boise State game how to do it", "they try to start the offense 30 feet from the basket". This sounds like a coaching issue! Have to say...the one thing he has mastered is rotating players in and out, hot or not! Sorry, don't mean to bash anyone, just feel a little unsatisfied. I do get very excited to get the opportunity to watch the Zips on Tv (see every other game on the less then great video feed) but more often then not, we get blown out. Still looking forward to the rest of the year..Go Zips! P.S.......how does E Michigan get Duke and Syracuse in the same season and we are thrilled to get M TN?

Thanks for the well thought out reply...just two things. I seem to remember AA walking the ball up the court more often than not. Secondly, does the coaching staff have any responsibility to design plays that allows a player to be open? It just seems there is a lot of standing around on offense.

I am trying to understand this current argument with the point guard situation. I know that my basketball IQ is probably less than many folks on this site so feel free to correct me. Are we saying that they are not capable of carrying out the set play as designed or that they just lack the experience and ability to organically recognize where the ball needs to be? The reason I ask this is I don't think I saw anything that I recognized as a set play in the first 2 games. No real screens, back door passes, drive and dish, pick and rolls, nothing but half court offense...pass to the bigs and Mano a Mano. Definitely zero movement on the offense. It would seem to me that if the point lacks experience you would have plays designed to make them as successful as possible. When I think of the successful mid majors (VCU excluded to some degree) in the tournament, I think of well designed basketball play, not necessarily the most athletic. Lets face it...if our players could beat the high majors with pure athleticism they probably wouldn't be at Akron.

Does it track with the play? Always behind on IHeart radio app

Anyone else get the terrible humming with the audio feed? Got it all last year also.

Not a perfect ending for Akron..but who had it worse? The Zips or everyone we claim to want to be like? VCU, Butler, Gonzaga go down a game later. VCU went down bad and Gonzaga would have lost to anyone else in their 16-1 seed game. Butler takes something good away in that they weren't beaten badly. The point is that the only thing that these three have that the Zips don't is respect from the public for a run that happened in the past. So all we are really saying is that we want a little R E S P E C T!

Not to pile on but thought you might like to see the view from here in Richmond. Hate that it shows Zeke, he deserves better.

I'm giving Carmelo a break with the whole conditioning thing. If he had walked the ball up the court and taken off on D like recent PG's cramps probably wouldn't have been and issue. Personally I liked the flow of the game with him in there....a few made 3's would have changed the whole outcome

National story...I wish. Just watched an hour of Sports Center U without even a mention of the Zips. They did mention Memphis has the 2nd longest steak.

Living in Richmond (vcu territory) with a daughter at Akron I think I get a clear perspective. winning a few tournament games means everything. VCU has been selling out their 7500 arena for several years now. The level of teams when they were in the CAA is no better than the MAC. Personally I don't think VCU has anymore talent than the zips...tho they do have excitement. Speaking of excitement...I have to view most games on line and due to the crappy digital feed I only see half a game between buffering, but it appears to me that most fans at the JAR are sitting down with head in hand. What's up with that! I drove 6 hrs to see the zips at coastal Carolina and the student section was SRO and the rest was full. Noise was not a problem...especially in overtime. GO ZIPS

Became a big ZIP fan when my daughter left for UA, 400 miles from home. Love everything about the school, except what drives this issue. The place is a ghost town on the weekend. Even the students that choose to live on campus probably live within an hour of home. Virtually everyone is a commuter in some form. Why latch on to the college spirit thing when your probably still attached to your high school 20 min away. As for me....I drove 8 hrs to see the ZIPS play Coastal Carolina. First chance to see them and loved it. GO ZIPS
