  1. I remember that too. Two of the turnovers were towards the very begining of the game, one on a Jawon Chisholm fumble and the other on another fumble by DW13? I don't rememeber the second one that much. But UCF scored 14 dumbster points. Not to mention our offense looked pretty shaky most of the game: I'm sure this will be much closer of a game this year.
  2. I just love snagging up those former 4-star transfers...but did we expect anything less from Bowden? This has been Bowden's MO when it comes to building programs: he snaggs kids who've had troubles in their past (health, academics, law) and gives them another shot on a less intense stage. Bowden = 353,435,475 Ianello's +1
  3. So why did he leave Pitt again? I'm a little lost in the story...this Mark Madden guy seems like an equally (or worse) prick. Like it's okay to go after players for being immature, but don't lower youself to a twitter battle with them...just makes you look childish.
  4. I'm almost 100% positive this purchase is going to be used exclusively for the College of Ed. College of Ed funds for a new building were moved over to fund the Corrosion Engineering building. There was originally supposed to be a new College of Ed building built where Memorial Hall used to stand (that would mirror the design of the Student Union) but those plans have been axed.
  5. Central Hower is being used for a new STEM High School in partnership with the university. Right now there are 80 kids in the STEM HS program.
  6. Blow it up and lets start all over again. It's asinine that the majority of student fees go towards supporting Sports programs at most school...those that don't (like big schools Alabama, Ohio State etc...) charge students up the wazoo to attend games at THEIR college. It's all very sick indeed.
  7. McNamara and Orelus are confirmed?
  8. I think this is the key thing to think of...D'Orazzio was a HS QB now WR if I'm not mistaken. Franco's got some good legs he might be a useful.
  9. With the way it's shaping up I think Easton will remain, making Franco the odd-man out.
  10. Perhaps that's because Kincade wants to be "the guy"?
  11. I completely agree. Akron throughly defeated OU thrice this year and that was undoubtably because of Jim Christian. OU fans were extremely upset over his coaching last year. Is there another MAC team that we should be looking forward to being tough competition?
  12. They were building the stadium my freshman year, so I appologize for not knowing much of the background of building/naming it...but what happened to Goodyear or Firestone or FirstMerit or Huntington, or hell even (as much as I don't like them) FirstEnergy. FE at least seems to be in the business of buying stadium naming rights...It really doesn't seem like they made a huge effort to find a namer.
  13. And I think we also need to look at last season compared to the two seasons before with Ianello. We were completely blown out in most games (including all conference matches); while with one year of Bowden, who had no time for recruting, little time for JUCO and other transfers, and one season to instill a new strategy; we weren't completely blown out in most games, infact we were in most games. Two of those games were 1 blown assginment or penalty away from the W, from what I remember; Miami and FSU. Akron played respectably against Toledo, Tennessee and Can't. Bowden said it last year: we've got to go from losing by a lot to losing by a little, then we go from losing by a little to winning by a little, and then hopefully you find yourself in a situation where your winning by a lot and competing for championships. If there's any coach who can do that at Akron; it's Bowden.
  14. You're joking right? If Bowden was interested in building his resume, he wouldn't have come to Akron. I have more respect for Bowden than almost any college coach (especially those at successful programs such as Alabama, OSU etc...) because it takes some guts to put your already good resume on the line to rebuild a program such as this one. Our one-and-done QB last year was excellent for Pohl to learn behind, and to learn from. And that "one-and-done" QB has become a part of the Zip family for life.
  15. My cousin from southern Ohio said Akron's been inviting him to camps this year. He's a sophomore DE/LB (going to be junior 13-14 school year). He'd really like to go to Miami but they haven't invited him. Of course being family, I want him to go where he'd be the happiest...but secretly a part of me is giddy over the chance that he could play at my alma mater.
  16. This looks great to finally have confirmation like this. Any idea if his history of injuries will negate the potential help that he could bring?
  17. I love that all this construction has been happening since I've been a student at UA. Since I've been on campus I've seen the Football stadium, Spicer, the new Biology Department, South Hall, the Engineering Research Building and all these community changes making the university and Akron look much nicer. It seems to be an exciting time for UA and the City of Akron. Two troubling thing are "enrollment...down 4 percent" and the ridiculous pricing of these housing options. Campus dorms are ridiculously expensive to begin with, and quite honestly these apartments are not much more affordable for college students. They say 400ish-600 which means most will be priced in the 600 range. But I guess in today's college world it's something that I'll just have to accept for the time being. Hopefully with the increased beauty of this campus, students will be inticed to going to campus events and actually living in Akron.
  18. Great editorial. Sounds, in many ways, of what we have faced at Akron. Somethine has to be done about the ridiculousness surrounding college football, or it will continue to destroy the academics of the institutions that they are supposed to be representing.
  19. I think you know what it means...but it's really irrelavent: FIU, Tennessee, Miami, Can't, Toledo for starters. We were reasonably in those games until the defense went from being "okay" to attrociously horrible. And I agree with you that we're predictable and lack talent both this year and last. I have faith in this coaching staff to be able to do the best with what they've got, however we need to find more talent; a point that Bowden has harped on over and over again.
  20. There was considerable stink about the LeBron bobbleheads...what world were you living on? The Facebook announcement was majority negative twoards LeBron bobbleheads.
  21. Stealing ipods from teammates isn't serious issues? *cough* Avis Commack.
  22. I care. Because it makes us look desperate and continues the dialogue of how much of a joke UA is. He has not done ANYTHING for the University (yes I know he helps with student recruitment but that's really not something worth of bobblehead recognition) and yet we're recognizing him. Every UA student I talked to about the give away said "What a joke" every non UA alumni or student basically "wow...that seems desperate." I'm sick and tired of being the continual punchline of a joke.
  23. I completely agree with this. A good number of the games we lost last year, were lost in the 4th quarter. I've always been a fan of dominant defenses, but when your a team like ours you've got to hold when you need to hold. I trust this coaching staff is doing everything in their power to make and coach a defense that can hold when it needs to. It did a couple times last year, but it was usually the weak link...and when it wasn't the weak link the offense was the weak link.
  24. $175? That guy is delusional... But yeah, I'm not sure I get the whole Jim Tressel Bobblehead at an Akron Aero's game for The University of Akron thing...Perhaps it would make more sense at a Football game?
