  1. This was played at the reception and really made an impact. Good stuff.
  2. The Tip-off reception was a very nice event. As always, Groce worked the room like a pro. The team really seems to enjoy each others' company. As before, there was a lot of talk about character, selflessness and core principles. Nate was the player chosen to take the stage with Groce and answer questions. There was a discussion about how hard it is to get teams to come to the JAR to play the Zips. Most of the kids did a nice job of going around the room and interacting. Lyles looks much bigger through the chest and shoulders. Tavari looks like he grew a couple of inches. You could pass Seth Wilson on the street and have no idea he was a D1 basketball player. Josiah Harris moves and looks the part of a real player. Hardman, the OSU transfer, is purportedly the best shooter on the team with a great shot and a quick trigger. Eric Mahaffey was sporting a large knee brace for a sprained MCL and will likely be out another couple of months (redshirt?). Brisco is likely to redshirt. Okonkwo wasn't there as he was in class. The team will be very deep (10-11 players) and is looking to play at a very fast pace and will be able to mainatin pace due to their depth. Rebound the ball and off to the races. After the YSU game, the YSU coach called Groce and thanked him for showing them they needed more cardio as the Zips pace wore them down, while Groce thought the Zips had not played fast enough.
  3. The 2024 Tip-Off Reception is tonight. I'll try to post some notes from it tonight or tomorrow morning.
  4. It's not the size of the dog in the fight.
  5. Surprised. He was always a players coach.
  6. If they play for the name on the front of the jersey instead of the name on the back they'll be just fine.
  7. But the game was much closer than the score indicated.
  8. CSU left it all on the floor.
  9. Another Arkansas State preview- https://www.collegenetworth.com/arkansas-state-red-wolves-mens-basketball-2024-25-season-preview/
  10. Maybe he can speak with basketball Cornell transfer Isaiah Gray to see how he likes Akron.
  11. From that video it looks like the Pacers players and coaches are starting the appreciate what we had in Enrique. I couldn't be happier for the kid.
  12. Exactly. Absent the contract pay-off fairy landing on the A Logo in the middle of Infocision Stadium, Moorhead isn't going anywhere until the end of his contract or the time he decides to leave.
  13. If Moorhead leaves, I believe the top candidates are Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau. That's as plausible and well researched as that article.
  14. For those interested, something not mentioned in the posting is that it is $25 to attend.
  15. So it's the depth and the width!
  16. The following is a link to an Arkansas State season preview. It refers to the Zips as the Broncos. https://www.sportskeeda.com/college-basketball/arkansas-state-basketball-season-preview-2024-25-biggest-games-key-players-watch
  17. I wonder that with all of the guard depth this team seems to have that if we'll see more pressure on defense this year. Being able to consistently slap on more pressure is much easier when you have fresh bodies you can continue to swap in.
  18. The under/over is 7.5 combined turnovers.
