Moorhead 2024 make or break season to keep job?

From what I have seen the "linemen on O" would retreat to junior college or give up the game all together. -
Moorhead 2024 make or break season to keep job?

My son attended one of those snooty east coast universities. The school in question focuses on top notch D1 basketball (and has been bad at it in recent years) while sending their football team off to compete in the Patriot League. While I know many in here would oppose such a move, with the changing face of college sports and the continued misery of this football program, such a switch is looking more and more like an alternative. -
The season opener is now less than a month away. The Zips will head to Jonesboro, Arkansas on November 4th to face the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the MAC/SBC Challenge. The Red Wolves are led by head coach Brian Hodgson. As @Let'sGoZips94 previously mentioned, Hodgson’s prior experience includes being an assistant for Oates at Buffalo and Alabama. In his first year at Arkansas State, he took the Red Wolves to a fourth place finish in the Sun Belt Conference after being slotted as the ninth team in the pre-season poll. They also made it to the third round of the CBI. They have been predicted to win the conference this year by Mid Major Madness. The Red Wolves return a number of major contributors from last year’s squad. Second leading scorer, 6’4” Senior guard Taryn Todd averaged 12.8 ppg and is joined in the backcourt by the team’s fourth leading scorer 6’3” junior guard Derrian Ford who averaged 10.4 ppg. Leading rebounder, 6’10” forward Izaiyah Nelson, who averaged 9.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg also returns. UMass transfer Dyondre Dominguez, a 6’8” forward, will be in his second year with the team and contributed 10.3 ppg and 5.8 rpg last year. The Red Wolves were also successful in the portal, bringing in the Sun Belt’s leading scorer from last year, 6-6 senior forward Kobe Julien, from Louisiana where he was named to the All Sun Belt second team. They also added Arkansas transfer Joseph Pinion, a 6’5” junior guard and Ole Miss transfer Rashaud Marshall, a 6’8” forward. This is one heck of an opener for our Zips as new members settle in. I’ll update as more preseason previews are released.

That was pretty much my guess, with Tavari and Nate having the benefit of having experience in the system. It will be just as interesting to see who's finishing games.

Great to hear. I assume you meant Josiah Harris. I am looking forward to hearing everyone's observations as I was unable to make it.

Old Clarky is researching as we speak! I may have to travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas. Everyone should feel free to Venmo me some funds to assist in the costs of this trip. The Venmo account is under SendClarkietoTahiti@venmo.com.

I have looked at this roster over and over and can't even venture a guess as to the starting 5. Guessing on the bigs is easier as there aren't many of them, but the depth of our guards is such that I can even guess as to who will be out here. I guess that's a good problem to have.

I think that PCCC/Massillon game was last week.

The stadium is now pretty much middle of the pack in the MAC.

Infocision is 15 years old. Stile Field House is 20 years old. I really don't think that the position that we have superior facilities is any longer the case. The program has had 5 winning seasons since 2000. It is 8-51 since 2019. The program has an experienced and respected FBS level coach. For it to be this bad every damn year the problem has to be systemic within the university and overall athletics program. At that winning percentage what kid would want to come here to play?

Some basic points: 1) Nothing good is coming to this team until they establish a decent offensive line. They're not strong enough to establish a run game and they're not mobile enough to run the finesse passing offense Moorhead obviously wants to run; 2) It's highly likely that the reason Bullock is not playing is because he's just not very good (his numbers show that); 3) Moorhead mentioned in the pregame yesterday that he'd like to see Finley be more patient in the pocket and that he essentially has happy feet. I'm a little perplexed that he'd say that without acknowledging the cause of those tendencies (that he's getting pummeled every damn week).

Point differential is considered in the polls. Beating Akron by 20 could get them into the top 100.

When your MVP is the punter, you have issues.

Just so damn frustrating. When the Zips scored with 1:20 left I immediately thought "damn, here we go again." Nice -1 rushing yards in the first half for the Zips.
