  1. Headed out. Go Zips. Hope to get there early and put a bunch of tailgate concessions on Captain Kangaroo's tab!
  2. I thought about that. Garvin had a slow start last year then grew up fast. I also do love Dawson and Tribble's energy coming off of the bench. As we've seen with Groce, it isn't about putting the 5 most talented players in the starting lineup, it's about finding the combination that works best.
  3. Just so many unknowns this year. I could see Tribble possibly starting over Hankerson after his success in stepping in after Walton's meltdown last year. I really like his energy off of the bench though (as I liked Dawson's). It 's going to be fun seeing how Groce puts this all together.
  4. I wonder if he is also left handed with a questionable arm.
  5. Okay Zips fans, who do you project as the starting five. I've been disqualified from answering this question based upon my past projections for Taylor Currie.
  6. I think it's a combination of things that will bring people to Infocision. First, to get the area football fans there you need to stop putting an awful product on the field. To get the rest of the general public there, you need a game day experience that will have the mommies and daddies telling their friends about what a great time they had. There shouldn't be a kid playing youth football in the Akron area that doesn't have a free ticket to a Zips game. The basketball experience is the perfect example of having only half of that formula. The program consistently puts a quality product on the court, yet the game day experience is a yawner. You can only watch middle aged men take court length putts, kids bouncing down the floor on hippity hop balls and kids dunking on a Little Tikes hoop so many times. The quality of the teams gets a larger percentage of seats filled than the football program but bring some ingenuity to the game day experience and the gaps would fill in. There must be marketing grad and undergrad students that would take some initiative. Also, talk to the Rubber Ducks staff. They see to understand the marketing side.
  7. Lulling them into a false sense of security. They are falling into the Zips' trap!
  8. The frigid walk in from the deck is always a good reminder!
  9. I got my ticket renewal handled today. A $60 GA season ticket to Zips basketball is still the best deal around.
  10. I believe this is year 4 of year 0 of a rebuild. I'll take Liberty minus 27. Liberty 38-7.
  11. The betting window is now closed.
  12. The Zips are punting well.
  13. That's all about making it harder for Tennessee to prepare. LOL.
  14. Line is down to 46.5 on Draftkings Sportsbook. Must be from all of the money coming in on the Zips!!
  15. It was the one with 1:29 left.
  16. Anyone else take note that the Texas kicker that made the late field goal that put them up over Alabama had the last name of Auburn?
  17. Good info catdaddyp. I think the breakdown is indicative of the level of talent the Arth administration was bringing in. The kids are now at their level of football competency. I wish them well.
  18. DraftKings line is now +47 with and under/over of 67. Yikes.
  19. If I were in Fleck or Campbell's shoes, I'd need Ryan Day/Lincoln Riley type money to even start the discussion for stepping into that mess. Tommy Frazier and Johnny Rodgers are not going to be reincarnated. I remember Jim Rome once implying that Jim Boeheim must cheat as there's no other rational explanation for his ability to get the top basketball players in the country to go to Syracuse, NY. You'd need that same kind of magic for Lincoln, Nebraska.
  20. Anyone else notice that the QB that led Georgia Southern over Nebraska was Stow's own Kyle Vantrease, fresh out of the transfer portal from a successful stint at Buffalo?
  21. It was 8 or 9 when they were still advertising for the Warren massage parlors and the dancer bars.
  22. I'm holding out until they go to a full 7 touchdowns.
  23. Much of the disappointment on here is driven by unrealistic expectations coming into the season. The Zips now have an FBS level staff that can build a program, but it isn't going to happen overnight. Top kids are not going to rush to a program with the recent record of the Zips. Also, every school is utilizing the transfer portal and while it helped the Zips fill some holes every other school benefited as much or more from the portal. This team won 3 games in 3 seasons coming into this season. A three or 4 win season would be a vast improvement to the last three years. I'm confident Morehead's the guy to get it done but we need to recognize that he's a coach, not a miracle worker. I'm not going to judge Undercuffler just yet. The kid was unexpectedly thrust into his first FBS game in a Big 10 stadium in front of 75,000 hostile fans with limited practice opportunities with Akron's first offense.
  24. Huh? Promising? They gave up 23 points to an FCS team that was sub-.500 last year. I'd prefer him to write about how the uniforms with the new logo were spiffy and the new field looked good.
