The bank eventually did get default judgment against old Kenni. Before that ever happens, you get multiple chances to work things out. The judgment is for $23,852.09 plus interest of 13.5% per annum. This for a guy who makes $500K plus a year. It's remarkable that a guy who makes that kind of money couldn't work out a $24K debt. It's nearly as remarkable that a coach of the only D1 athletics program in a county doesn't have somebody running interference for the head football coach. It's all a sign of something very wrong.

The Zips will head west to DeKalb, Illinois to face the Northern Illinois Huskies Tuesday. The Huskies are 5-14/1-6 and are coming off of their first MAC win of the season, a 76-66 win over Ball State. 6’5” sophomore guard, Quentin Jones, a Cal Poly transfer, leads the Huskies at 15.9 ppg while also contributing 4.2 rpg. 6’5” senior guard James Dent, a Western Illinois transfer, is the second leading scorer at 12.8 ppg while adding 5.1 rpg. Terry Copeland, a 6’9” freshman, is the team’s leading rebounder at 6 rpg. The Huskies were chosen to finish 11th in the MAC and so far are living up to that projection but the MAC has seen some strange happenings happen in DeKalb over the years.

Sure guys, you only lost by 3 in the second half (when the Zips let up). You're team is slow and unathletic. Edit: I just looked at their forum and they are actually taking it pretty well.

Lesson, typo.

He got called for a foul just as they went to a timeout and he came out of it with the ball at the Miami end. As he walked to the Akron bench he carried the ball and lazily dropped it at half court, not giving it to an official. Groce saw it as it happened, retrieved the ball and yelled back to Sharron who had made it to the Akron huddle, demanding that he come back to half court where he convened a meeting with himself, Sharron and the official. It was a really bad look for Sharron and he was immediately brought back to learn the lesson. It was well done by Groce.

Twice in one game yet!
-
Sharron just taught a little person by Groce and the ref.

Or the cast of Hamilton.

Travis Steele has the expression of a guy who just realized he got off at the wrong train stop.

Always worried they'll be lethargic coming out of halftime. I guess we're good on that.
-
It also resulted in him quickly getting a seat on the bench!

10 for 15 on 3s. WOW.
-
Here's hoping today's the day the Zips learn to step on necks.

Young is the fastest Zip since LCJ.
-
Great start. Crowd getting in to it.
-
Nobody unexpectedly in sweats.
-
Starting to fill up. Going to be a nice crowd.

I wouldn't want a full diet of Saturday afternoon games but I like one occasionally. It has a college basketball sitting in front of the TV listening to Enberg and McGuire, kids going crazy in the stands, feel to it. Oh, and yes, I'm old.

This is outstanding. I love the story about Groce getting kicked out of an AAU Game. He had one of his players guard the ref and when the ref went to Groce he told him that he'd told the kid to guard the guy in the gym that was hurting them the most. That's hilarious.

I don't think the scoring stats are skewed. I think they are a sign of the talent being spread out through the roster rather than being top heavy with someone like an LCJ, X or Enrique. That's a good thing as long as it is properly managed and somebody is capable of stepping up in a pinch to get a hoop.

Some interesting stats: * The Zips top scorer, Nate, is 18th in the MAC in scoring. He's the only Zip in the top 25. * 8 different Zips have led the team in scoring for a game. * Despite not having a top scorer, the Zips lead the MAC in points per game. * The Zips are fourth in points allowed on defense. * The Zips are second in point differential (Miami is first). * Okonkwo is first in the MAC in rpg. * Tavari is 4th in assists and assists to turnover ration. * Amani is 3rd in blocks and 21st in rpg. * Young is 5th in 3 point FG%. * Nate is 5th in steals. All in all, this adds up to a deep team with a large number of guys who can score and that despite the faster pace is playing reasonable defense.

Ouch. What the hell was that? LOL.

Travis Steele brings his 14-4/5-0 Miami Redhawks into the JAR Saturday at 2:00 for a battle of the MAC’s last undefeated teams. 6’6” sophomore wing, Xavier transfer, Kam Craft leads the Redhawks in scoring at 15.2 ppg. 6’5” junior guard, Peter Suder, a Bellarmine transfer, is second on the team in scoring at 14.1 ppg. Rutgers transfer Antone Woolfolk, a 6’9” forward, leads rebounding at 5.9 rpg while contributing 8.4 ppg. The game is part of a doubleheader with the women who play Buffalo at 4:30.
