  1. The next Zips Nation thread where EVERYONE wants the same thing will be the first Zips Nation thread where EVERYONE wants the same thing.
  2. Not sure where I said it was a reason for anything. I merely stated an observation.
  3. If you looked at actual attendance, I think men's basketball may outdraw football.
  4. My experience with the ignore feature is that I put people in the "ignore lounge" and eventually let them out. They then generally reward me by getting in the express line to get back in.
  5. Absolutely no reason, but they've constructed the roadmap to do it. 8 seasons of .500 or better football since going to D1--A/FBS in 1987. Absent a change in the culture at UA with respect to football, it won't matter whether they are in FBS, FCS, D2, Pop Warner or CYO. Hopefully, with a commitment to the program, better decision making and community involvement, they can build something that's competitive in the "new world" MAC.
  6. That was a typo. Thanks for the additional info on the national ranking.
  7. Spare me the stats game? I wasn't banging his drum, I was stating his record. Excuse me. In reality, Gerry Faust wasn't the guy to take the program forward either.
  8. I realize that to a certain extent, but he led them to an 8-4 record and the D2 playoffs in his last year and won 20 games in his last three seasons. He was also a top notch guy from what I understand. 34-28-1 in D1-AA. That's damn near statue worthy in recent UA football history.
  9. You have to wonder where we'd be if at that time Muse would have been content to let Huggins continue to grow the program on his terms and held on to Dennison and allowed him to continue with his success in I-AA rather than throw caution to the wind and bring in Faust to Go to D1.
  10. There have certainly been far more opportunities for fond memories with soccer than football. As I said pages ago, if the standard for cuts is historical success, football is in trouble while soccer and basketball should be safe.
  11. Please stop being so subtle. They yearn for Rob Senderoff's "loyalty" (AKA inability to do well enough to move on).
  12. No matter what happens down the line, that team will always hold a special spot in the hearts of Zips fans.
  13. Defund= no scholarships, no program, no coaches, no support staff...lots of stuff at the spring game sale.
  14. Was there some great release of national security secrets of which I was unaware? Christ, the extent to which some people will go to boost their fragile egos with an "I told you so" moment is comical.
  15. I'd love to see a breakdown of expenses and revenues by sport. I look at some of the sports and think "why?", but if they are not a substantial financial burden I could see keeping them (e.g. rifle). At some point, someone will start looking at all of this like a business and finances will become the controlling factor.
  16. Some talking head on Doug Gottleib's show in discussing the financial plight of colleges today mentioned all of the money PCCC makes on away football games against powerhouses and how that could all be in peril if the landscape of college football changes.
  17. That doesn't exclude fewer teams or FCS football in time, however.
  18. I knew it was him or Giiliam. I remembered it was a New Orleans program then figured it was Diggs but then saw they are still playing at New Orleans. They must have started back up.
  19. All those contacts and connections were vital in retaining Bowden and canning Williams.
  20. The scholarships as I understand them are essentially one year renewable agreements. Each year, the school has the ability to not renew. It's a **** move if they don't and it quickly impacts your program's reputation if you do it, but they can do it. When programs shut down, the best thing they can do is help the kids find a landing spot. I can't remember who it was, but the Zips a while back picked up a basketball player that left a program being shut down as I recall.
  21. Akron's student teacher ratio is 20:1. More student athletes arguably require more faculty. It is certainly an economy of scale, but they cost the University something. Blue & Gold- is your dad interested in adopting?
  22. "We." LOL. He's not tall enough to be of any value anyway!
  23. There are some guys with that build (Charles Barley, Rerun on What's Happening) that are mobile. He may be one of those. It seems odd that we as a fan base that benefited from a guy like Big Dog is critical of the body type of a player, but that's how the times have changed!
  24. Wait. Bam Bowman has a twin?
  25. Was Bob Huggins not accountable? Caleb Porter? Keith Dambrot? Thank you for your service. I don't agree with your persistently negative stance, but thanks for being on the front line.
