  1. iCoach always seemed like he was imitating someone he'd seen and liked or was acting like he thought people wanted him to act. Just never seemed genuine.
  2. You can take the boy out of Barberton....
  3. I don't always agree with Dre, but one thing I will say is that he mans up when he needs to. He can on last year and admitted he had been wrong on Groce. Hopefully, Arth can make him do it again some day.
  4. I love Loeffler's fire. That kind of passion is easy to get behind. It's also nice to hear his plan.
  5. Groce's means of accomplishing that was a topic of discussion on the 20-21 basketball thread today. Groce came in and kept the program treading water with transfers, jucos and guys he knew weren't long term answers. He knew it wasn't the long term plan but used it to getting up and running until he could build a program that could attract top notch incoming freshman. With each recruiting class, we've seen more incoming freshman. Like you, I think that could have helped the football program come together a little faster.
  6. The most painful thing about that QB list is that number 1 is from Stow and number 2 is from Midview. Number 1 (Vantrease) got no interest from UA. Not sure about number 2 (Crum).
  7. I think that's the sign of a sound plan by Groce, one that we hoped for early in his stay here. Build it quickly to a successful program with transfers and jucos in the mix making it more and more attractive to top notch high school seniors that stay with the program for four years. I don't think he'll ever stop turning over rocks for top notch talent, but the math is pretty simple- 4>1 or 2.
  8. Well, that was much more encouraging than last week's abomination. It's a good point that the fact we're encouraged by a two TD loss against an average MAC team is a sign of how far the Zips have fallen, but there was improvement over week one. There also seems to be something there to build upon.
  9. I;ve never seen highlight tapes like his, 3 second snippets of dunks and layups! I am looking forward to the kid in a Zips uni.
  10. I'd have surrendered both (of yours). ?
  11. As I understand it he can't get clearance to play due to a back condition, but he's a great kid with a great attitude that they want to keep around for his and the team's sake. Somebody closer to the program may have better info.
  12. Fearless forecast- we see someone at QB for the Zips that's not on the roster as a QB (due to the on roster QBs getting obliterated).
  13. I'm just glad he's more than 100% committed. That's apparently very important these days.
  14. Kalle looks to have a shooting range of about two feet but you can't teach 6'10". He also seems to run the floor well. One thing that he seems to do that I love is going up strong with both hands when down deep. I hate when guys don't go up strong around the hoop. Guys like him should try to dunk it every time they get the ball near the hoop.
  15. C'est la vie. Young Dru can manage his meal plan and help him work on his math skills.
  16. At the end of the day, it largely comes down to talent. The Zips are at the bottom of the MAC because their talent is at the bottom of the MAC. Acquisition of talent is a responsibility of the coaching staff in recruiting, but it's not like some coach could drop onto the sideline right now and suddenly change this squad into a winning team. Last year, they were left with nothing. This year, we'd better start seeing an improvement in the talent level. Hopefully, they are past whatever dents the Covid and preseason scrimmage put in the lineup and we can start seeing any improvement soon.
  17. There are some but they are few and far between. Art Briles is on that comes to mind. Well worth revisiting to reignite a nearly two year old argument!
  18. I was shocked YSU passed on him. He'll eventually move on to a college program with the right opportunity. I'm not a huge fan but I can't argue with his success.
  19. The name of this ZipsNation thread shall be changed to "Misery Loves Company."
  20. Called the ticket office today. Immediately dumped to voice mail. No call back. They must be really busy.
  21. I admire your guys optimism. I have generally been the "optimistic" "patience" guy on here too. Certainly, my pessimism this morning is at least in part from the mental hangover caused by that @$$-kicking. Keep talking me down! As far as LZips comment "we may be looking at starting back over, and I fear starting the "rebuilding" process yet again", that's part of my apprehension. If this rebuild doesn't take, the Zips are stuck with it due to the finances of the school. I can only imagine the joy of the professors union this morning.
  22. Last year, with the transition, I expected nothing. That's exactly what I got. This year, I expect reasonable improvement. That would entail a couple of wins. I don't think the team I saw last night is capable of a couple of wins. I get that they looked better in some aspects of the game, but............58-13. Disappointing.
  23. Is it too late to take the over?
