  1. "It takes a village" to build a team this bad. It's not just one factor. The team started to crumble under Bowden and he failed to recruit adequately; the search by the AD was poorly done; the administration has not made the program a priority; the new staff was not prepared for the difficult transition; and the community shows little or no support. At the end of the day, those factors have combined for failure. Miserable failure. To this point, it does not appear the staff had been up to the task, but much more has gone into this abomination than just the perceived shortcomings of the current staff. Marshal through. Fight to keep the best kids here. Recruit well. Bolster the staff. Move on from here.
  2. The Zips must look great in practice. Just look at who they're playing against. ? At this juncture, if the best players aren't on the field, the staff has failed to recognize the urgency of the situation.
  3. One bright spot/something positive....................................................basketball starts Tuesday.
  4. They faced a guy today who should have been high on their list but he was hired a full two weeks before Arth. The radio broadcast mentioned that he lost 15 players to transfer making it tough to fill out his team. He's apparently ahead of the Zips pace.
  5. I thought that much of Zips Nation was overly optimistic in the preseason with their estimates of wins. My thought was that they could win as few as two and as many as four. Even my pessimism could not match this ugliness. They're not firing Arth. As such, the keys in the off-season need to be: 1) work their @$$e$ off in recruiting, including jucos; 2) upgrade the staff. All of these connections Arth purportedly has better pay off in the off-season. They need kids that can play NOW.
  6. You're a month behind. 11 TD's in September. None in October. Time change is tonight.
  7. Fearless Forecast: Zips attempt their first fake kick/punt of the season and botch it into a turnover. Sorry Captain, I couldn't resist.
  8. Best deal in town. Still amazed they go to all this effort for those of us up in the cheap seats.
  9. Muuuuuuuuuuuuccchhhhhhhh better than the Jelly of the Month Club!
  10. Tickets are here!
  11. Wife just texted me that the tickets came today. Wooooohoooooooooooo!
  12. I heard somewhere that some fringe college in Portage County set the record this season for money taken in from arranged arse whoopins with approximately $4.5 million.
  13. It's actually a throwback from a UA site. LOL.
  14. From the Pioneers' website- Malone finished 15-14 overall last season and 9-11 in conference play. The Pioneers earned the number seven seed in the G-MAC Tournament, but were bounced by Walsh, eventual conference champs, in the opening round. Entering the 2019-20 season, Malone was recently voted ninth among 12 teams in the G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Walsh, which earned seven first-place votes, and Findlay, which received the other five, headline the early season frontrunners. Clearly, this is a warm up game. Nonetheless, it will be nice to see the Zips back on the floor and to see how the squad is shaping up.
  15. Not enlightening, but very little out there- https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/dnkoph/akron_beat_xavier_in_a_battle_of_brotherly/
  16. I think this sums up where most of us are. As Zips fans, we can't help but be concerned with the product we are seeing on the field, but we know there's no short term solution and recognize that the budget and realities of the situation require us to exercise some patience. Unfortunately, this is short sightedly interpreted by some as accepting the abomination we are seeing on the field. Recognizing the problem yet not being advocates of the "nuclear option" do not make us lesser Zips fans nor are we so deaf to the problems that we need it constantly spelled out for us.
  17. Groce dismissed as a party as he is not a state agent or instrumentality- https://ohcourtportal.tylerhost.net/Portal/DocumentViewer/Index/VfOmq1UgUtYMYckZMz3Zh8yNGJlfHyssUuYPBS6e1BxVfUgdF7fFjUkIl-VwgVXfbMu_XcUZ0lkLtJOaGVEkZI31TOSgnsyqn4qskwyXvoBPZtkYxb91_ooR2iZt1RmM0?p=0
  18. It doesn't take a freaking genius to realize that UA DOESN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY 3 HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES.
  19. But...but...but...it's so much easier (and simple minded) to call for his immediate ouster (over and over and over).
  20. Summary judgment is unlikely as there are likely to be genuine issues of material fact left after discovery in a case like this. Also, any strategy by the University to place the blame on Groce would be foolhardy as he's clearly an agent of the university while conducting practice.
  21. I didn't see anything about him refusing transport, just an allegation that the training staff put some steri-strips on his face and he was on his way. If they misdiagnosed his injuries and let him go with a concussion, they might well be on the hook, particularly if it aggravated his injuries or increased his pain and suffering. Most likely, this will eventually be worked out and we'll never know what either side had as evidence or what issues were established or conceded.
  22. Maybe as a non-state actor (Gueye) the Court of Claims is not the proper forum for a case against him. Also, I suspect he's not collectable. Here's a link to the complaint- https://ohcourtportal.tylerhost.net/Portal/DocumentViewer/Index/JSHNe2P1SDNQmsBqI6uaok_Mg3zcBXLSbkYlNuGafIX2qrO47lsub3IEsNv4Oh9WA8pe-mfm_mOhKfaqq_4NhMdDNI7MVtV7Z22oHvVSQ3HYLagEoljL8f8fUCCIooiT0?p=0
  23. Scotty looked pretty intimidated next to his teammates at the ice cream social. ? I had two main worries with this situation. First, how did it get to this level? Usually that hostility builds, it's not an unexpected lashing out. Second, he drove himself to the hospital. Those are now questions for the Court of Claims.
