  1. About what you would expect from an introductory press conference. Lots of fluff and glad handing. Get to word Mr. Arth.
  2. The wi-fi doesn't seem to work for me. Says I have no internet if I recall. Android phone. Reboot doesn't see to help.
  3. Anyone else ever have trouble posting on Zips Nation from the JAR? I can usually get in 2 or 3 posts then have trouble.
  4. The logical and most common progression for a high school coach to a college program is from high school head coach to position coach or coordinator and if successful, then on to head coach. From head coach to head coach is jumping a few rungs in the ladder and that's magnified when it is to a D1 program. Tyrell was nothing special at St. Thomas Aquinas. He had some success in Florida. He has been very successful at Hoban and should be able to move on to the college ranks if he wishes, but if he wants to be a head coach, he'd be far better suited to start at a D3 program or do like Marcus Wattley did coming in from SVSM as a position coach and academic liaison.
  5. About half of the active roster played like they were concussed.
  6. He didn't seem mad enough in the post game to shame them.
  7. She did a great job addressing the crowd at the basketball game today.
  8. Let's hope Arth is as good as the new women's lacrosse coach when he speaks at the JAR. She's spunky.
  9. I saw that. I thought Groce's head was going to explode. It was just a mindless momentum killing moment of idiocy by Roscoe. Groce made a comment in the post-game about how some of the bench didn't come to play and I think that was in large part directed at Roscoe. E-man was pretty damn invisible today too. Sayles has become my most frustrating Zip this year.
  10. The Zips have a quick turnaround with a Tuesday night game against the TSU Tigers. The Tigers are 3-5, haivng beaten perennial NCAA hoops titans Carver, Fisk and our old friends from Coppin State. They did only lose to Kentucky by 15 at the Ohio Valley Hardwood Showcase in Lexington. They are led by 6-4 Ole Miss junior transfer guard Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey at 17.3 ppg.
  11. Oh, and while I'm rolling, the Zips bench was just plain awful. I realize they were shorthanded, but Roscoe looked lost and everyone other than Riak didn't come to play.
  12. Some good in that game, mostly on offense, but many more frustrating aspects in the loss. 1) Box out. Damnit, box out! Waaaaaaaaaaay too many second chance points for Marshall. 4 foot tall Loren Jackson makes more of an effort to box out than our big guys. 2) Dear Zips staff- when the other team's offense relies on penetrating and kicking it to good shooters on the perimeter, you may want to back off on the help defense and tell defenders to stay with their men. 3) Pass the ball against a zone. Marshall was good at that. 4) Turnovers killed us, especially in the first half. 5) A slight of frame 5-8 point guard should not be defending the 6-3 leading scorer from the other team. 6) Running and taking quick shots is THEIR game not the Zips. Don't get caught playing to their pace.
  13. Frustrating first half. Hope some halftime adjustments work.
  14. Banks in street clothes today.
  15. No Riak. E-man and Cheese in starting lineup.
  16. If he does, I may at least be able to understand him. JAR sound system + Bowdenese = UNINTELLIGIBLE GIBBERISH.
  17. The decision may have been made but the game delayed them from moving forward while other teams were already on the hunt
  18. While disappointed that I was passed over, I am hopeful for Arth. At this point, I am in "wait and see" mode. I am concerned with the following sentence in one of the articles above- "Akron was the last opening at the FBS level in the 2018-19 coaching cycle as of this writing." I am afraid the South Carolina game, which at this point meant nothing but a payday, put Akron a step behind.
  19. From watching Cheese in warmups and the games, I don't think his outside shot will get much better. He is better at going to the hoop than Banks, while Banks is the better shooter. Cheese will have some streaks where his shooting is okay but never be one of the team's better shooters. Riak brings a little more offense than the other bigs and more than I expected. Sayles has potential but has been way too inconsistent. E-Man is great, but limited offensively and has to rely entirely on his athleticism to defend true bigs. We're not likely to see much if any from K-Lac from here on in, absent significant injuries and it doesn't get much better for him next year with Gueye and Williams coming aboard.
  20. So they can say they did their due diligence and that the search company earned its money.
  21. We're both great recruiters.
  22. Worthlessfootballrumors.com reports that online forum bloviator ClarkWGriswold is a candidate for the Akron job, bringing the total number of reported candidates to 967.
  23. I'm going to be a little pissy of we end up with a stiff and local boy Scot Loeffler is successful at BG. Too bad we never got a chance at him with him getting snatched up before the Zips played at SC.
  24. ...and just like that the offensive coordinator at Central Ohio Technical College Coshocton Campus and the head coach at West Holmes High School become rumored candidates for the UA job!
