  1. Maybe trying to offset their size early is all I can figure. If it was for an injury, you wouldn't bring him in only 1:09 into the game.
  2. 1:09 taken to get to K-lac's first foul and in come Utomi.
  3. Utomi not starting!?
  4. Ditto on Cotton. I love the kid's play and moxie, but there's something up there that I can't put my finger on. He had his tiff with Ivey and a DNP shortly thereafter followed by his recent one game suspension. It makes me most uneasy as to his future.
  5. I think they can..I think they can...I think they can...
  6. I think it would be great if Demajeo was Wiggins middle name and his first name was Jeaux. Jeaux Demajeo Wiggins.
  7. I'm afraid the Zips are going to be without a road win this year. I think Wiggins lights it up tonight as the Zips have nothing standing in his way down low. You'll recall that the earlier game against BG was a last second win with Sayles having his best game of the year before suffering what now looks like may be a season ending injury.
  8. I don't think we should get too far ahead of ourselves with Riak. He averaged 3.1 ppg and 5.2 rpg in 21 minutes as a sophomore at ECU. He's also quite thin. I think he'll be a contributor, but not an offensive force. I see him and Poke being somewhat similar, so you'd need 3 very good offensive players in with them if they were on the floor together. I think Sayles has the ability to become the Zips number one big man.
  9. I think we all wish the best for K-lac. I moved from my regular spot at the JAR to a spot where I can watch the bench and he's always engaged and supportive of his teammates. He also just seems like a good kid, so he's easy to root for. He's been thrust into a very tough position this year and could end up as the number 4 big man on the team next year. If someday he develops into a 12 to 15 minute, 6 to 8 point 4-5 rebound guy, I'll be perfectly content with that.
  10. The Zips head to BG Tuesday night to face the 16-11 Falcons. The Falcons are 7-7 in the MAC. 6-4 freshman guard Justin Turner leads the Falcons in scoring at 15.4 ppg. 6-10 junior forward Demajio Wiggins leads rebounding at 9.7 rpg. Sorry for the quick summary, I am out of town.
  11. Apparently, that's the nature of the athlete they recruit and attract.
  12. Nope. It is a federal investigation, but of program sanctions come down it would have to be from the NCAA.
  13. The NCAA knows that if they make a sweeping determination against the powers from the P5 schools, the conferences will bail and start their own "governing" body with its own set of rules.
  14. As sad as it is, I'm surprised it's only 50.
  15. Groce's strength is supposed to be recruiting. He didn't have much of a chance coming into this year, so we'll have to see. Not only does he have to recruit, but he'll have to retain what they have. In simple terms, losing sucks and our team is losing. In Groce we trust (it's not like we have another choice).
  16. I will have a tough time adjusting to the loss of Jimmy Hall as I will now have to find another Flash to direct insults. His Hofstra "incident" coupled with his long stay at PCCC brought me years of joy. Good luck to the Zips tomorrow. I am out of town so I will have to depend on you guys to cheer on the Zips and harass Mr. Pinky.
  17. Oh goody, another Dambrot debate...
  18. He was teetering on his contract not getting renewed and then they mage their run last year, a run with which we are all too familiar.
  19. Exactly, in large part based their performance in.....the....MAC tournament. They don't have the finances to just send him on his way.
  20. He didn't have to as K-lac inexplicably hacked him 15 feet from the basket (on the play he fouled out).
  21. It was also very shortly after they called a very similar play a charge by Ball State.
  22. I think we may well see another odd situation next year where some kids see less time than they dd this year. Such is life with this transition.
  23. Don't get me wrong LZip. I like the kid, but I think people need to temper their excitement as well as their disappointment. I hope to hell he's a late bloomer.
  24. Let's be brutally honest. Kostelac is 6-11, 250 and is playing at the University of Akron after high school at NDCL and a year at IMG. At NDCL, he was 3 time All-League Honorable Mention. The NCL is not a basketball powerhouse league. He seems like a great kid and has potential, but he's a freshman who would never see the floor on a decent team or a team with some depth at the bigs. He has been thrown to the wolves and hopefully that will benefit his long term development, but given his background we shouldn't get too excited by his potential or too disappointed when he has difficulties.
  25. Mr. Pinky and the 12-14 Golden Flushes of PCCC await the Zips this Saturday at the MACC. PCCC has been one of the MAC’s most inconsistent teams (6-7) with wins over Buffalo and Western and losses to BG and NIU. Jaylen Walker leads the Flushes at 17.2 ppg. Adonis De La Rosa leads rebounding at 7.8 ppg. Be sure to get there early so that you can get a seat with a view to most of the floor. It’s very odd to head into this game with both teams essentially out of the MAC East title race.
