  1. :unsure:no... its not the person Dr. Z...the coaches name could be dennison or larson or smith or methusula for all i care...its the result on the field...i would love nothing more than for these guys to get to the new stadium next year...and maybe the decision has already been made...but this is another watershed for this program...what happens these last two games, moving to the new place and the season next year...is the body of work at a high enough level to reward this staff with the new stadium and more longevity...has the last five years been what we want the next five to be like?...thats all...nothing personal...got it?
  2. only managed to win ONE home game this year folks...don't blame it on the Bowl...over time Akron has a big win advantage at home...maybe thats why there were 'only' 18k last night...and the weather was good and the tickets were cheap...brookhart wants butts in the seats but he loses BIG games at home...don't blame it on the Bowl or the players...they busted ther butts and the Bowl was the Bowl...look in the mirror
  3. can you say BRADY HOKE...TURNER GILL..those are the coaches of the year...brookhart may end up 5-7...ya know can't COULD end up 5-7 also...
  4. i am having a problem grasping the purported concept that this football program has come such a long way when i see programs like ball state, central michigan, western michigan and buffalo most of whom were AWFUL until recently...see buffalo, ball state etc etc...moving past us within the past couple of years...while ball state and buffalo went from losers to being on the verge akron has regressed in the last 3 years...its correct new stadia do not a winner make... GOOD COACHES AND GOOD PLAYERS do...its past time
  5. 20 grand at the bowl...counting fuffalo freaks...if the weather is decent...
  6. hey folks, don't put yourselves in the position of having to eat crow...Jacquemain has never played in a game this big...the defense may be even worse if Graham is out...Kennedy could go for 150 or fumble 3 times...jeremy bruce could do whatever it is he does with the ball...we better hope our O LINE takes over early and often...this is way to close to call...
  7. this game is so huge for these teams the line is meaningless it also says that fuffalo is getting a lot of respect...Zips don't fail us now!
  8. is Graham healthy enough to play tomorrow? he was hurt last week? if not, the secondary might get torched...
  9. do ya think anyone will care if i try to pry a section of bleacher and take it home after the game?
  10. the weather is not good for the biggest game at the BOWL in, well does it matter?..how many 'fans' will show if its raining and cold?...look at them...those are FANS...probably some of the same idiots(like me) who showed for the 'Blizzard Bowl' in 2005...GO ZIPS
  11. ok one more time...NO BOWL GAME for the ZIPS unless they win the EAST...which means BEAT fuffalo...AND finish .500 or better after the mac championship so lets stop the nonsense..oh by the way...if brookhart does not finish at least 6-6 now..adios
  12. THANK YOU...if so called fans don't come out thursday screw 'em...the only thing thats matters is a WIN...believe me fuffalo will have lots of folks there..biggest game since the '05 Bilzzard Bowl against can't...go ZIPS
  13. wow...if we could only really think the ZIPS won't lose another game!!!...just get to 5 wins in the MAC before fuffalo and bg...that means a 'bowl' and at least 7 wins...take it!!!
  14. first team in the east to 5 wins in the mac will win the division...cuz whoever wins thursday still only has 2 losses and the tiebreaker on head to head...the best anyone else will do is 5 wins...AND Brookhart probably keeps the job with 6 wins so this gets huge...to beat buffalo will take the zips playing their best game of the year..see ya there...
  15. where did the new and improved dennis kennedy come from?...here's some things that may have happened....first and maybe most important this offensive line tackle to tackle is probably the best group that has been here since the ZIPS went D-I...those guys are controlling games even in losses...second, i think kennedy learned from watching Alex Allen and Andrew Johnson...he has stopped looking for the sideline and started running 'north/south'...stick your nose in the hole and move the legs...starting to remind me a little of brett biggs the last really decent running back we had here before Allen...kennedy isn't as thick in the legs but he is running the middle and moving the pile at times like biggs did...finally kennedy appears motivated..he seems to want the responsibilty of carrying the ball alot...good for him because thursday is the biggest game at the Bowl since the 'Blizzard Bowl' in 2005 when they won the division...
  16. bar scene from the 'blues brothers'?...stand by your...man?
  17. mu just drove it in on fuffalo....looks like da bulls are the real deal on offense...they may have some problems with a qb who can move..unfortunately we do not have one of those...they bring pressure on the d so you gotta run at them or they will kill jacquemain...IF the ZIPS take care of bidness tomorrow should be a hell of a game next thursday...IF
  18. i hope the coaches and players see more of a sense of urgency about the toledo game than most of you guys seem to have...lose the season is in the sh...er
  19. If there is ever an excuse to skip class, there is no better than the last game EVER at the Rubber Bowl. If there is anyone who is a Zips fan who is not at this game (and has a means to get there) they are a disgrace.A disgrace? I'm sure professors find a football game as a legit excuse to miss a class, but not on an exam date. Graduate or watch a football game? hmm, I'll pick graduate.Your professor must be a Can't State graduate if he has a test scheduled for the day of a football game and at the same time. That is unacceptable.Scheduling the last game for the Rubber Bowl on a weekday is unacceptable!! now there's a point...prostitutes for the TV money...that supercedes any fan friendly thoughts that may have fleetingly entered the admin's head...be there or be square 'fans'
  20. Isn't that why they're there? I heard (somewhere) that the structural integrity at that end of the bowl wasn't sufficient to support the weight of a full crowd. Anyone know about this?you got it...the water is running off the hill and underneath the stands
  21. I would bet the gambling issue had a ton to do with Toledo Tom's repositioning at UT (two puns in one sentence not intended). It is one thing to have some NCAA violations impact your program like has happened to Marshall, but to have your players associate with known organized crime members from Detroit is a devastating blow to a program. In fact, this is the type of thing that should get an AD fired in addition to the football coach because gambling goes straight to the public trust and integrity of the game. In the end, people do not want to pay to go see a game they think may be fixed. I actually think this will help the Zips. While I was on the fence about the outcome, I see the Zips winning. Distractions are a big problem for college age players. It is hard to keep a team close when they have friends going to jail, inconsistent play and a coach going to work in the Alumni office. That's a lot of negative stuff day in and day out. Many of these kids may be looking forward to the end of the year. hope so...don't count on it...we are in akron... if anything bad can happen it will...
  22. those teams may be 9-19 or whatever...what is the record of the teams the Zips have beaten??!! i know i'm always the voice of doom and gloom(or reality) but nobody on this site can tell you which team will show up next wednesday against toledo or the following week against fuffalo...thats the damn problem with these coaches and the players...i think the offense will be just ok...who knows about the D...look...fuffalo has some serious ass weapons on the O...you gotta beat them in the last game at the 'hole'..if not ...season over...oh that 'assumes' a win against toledo...maybe the D will step up...may jacquemain will keep his head on straight...maybe kennedy won't wake up and start running east/west again....maybe maybe Grant will play at his potential maybe the line will get a pass rush...for me Detroit is just fine...
  23. have watched toledo, temple, buffalo and ou on the tube...ou is is toast...but, even though toledo lost to cmu, they look very athletic..cmu was fortunate to win...toledo is a MUST win...after the long layoff if the ZIPS come out flat and lose and they have had problems with toledo that kind of screws the rest of the season...looks like they should be able to throw on toledo...if the D can keep it under 30...buffalo is the real deal...good qb...good receiver...good back...this could be a 40-35 game if the D doesn't show up...ou..on the road..if it means anything at that point to the ZIPS they should win...temple...with a healthy qb and a decent d these guys are dangerous...they are still in it..if that last game decides it...ouch!...they have to go 3-1 minimum and have to beat toledo and buffalo at home...could be the first team to 5 wins in the east, beating the right teams goes to detroit...lets see how the coaches and the players handle the pressure..
  24. how long has it taken Brady Hoke to dig arguably the worst MAC program out of the toilet? how long did it take Kelly to get Central to being one of the best in the MAC..my point?...duh
