good stuff...but is he bringning in too many potential QB's?Jackson next year...does Jacqueman stay?...what about Hakes etc etc.? i know they all don't make it but if kids come in and see they don't have a chance to play because the line is too long kids will stop coming...i know i'm not on top of this but whatever happened to Mickey Baker the JUCO LB?

just got back from the Bowl...wondering why the great JD and his offense...ya HIS QB...wasted a fine effort by the D...no reason on this earth why Jackson should not have played tonight...JD did not do EVERYTHING in an effort to win the game on the offensive side... players will file that away...by the way.. i was sitting near a guy who claimed he heard Jackson wants to transfer...anybody got a line on that..if JD uses the excuse he was being 'loyal' to a sr. someone needs to tell him to stop complaing about he lack of butts in the seats...he had a chance to sell some tickets for next year in front of a decent crowd...for us... and blew itsomeone also needs to show him that 2 of his golden recruits..Harvey and Kennedy take too many plays off..other guys see that too..."great effort"(LOL) by Harvey on that ball in the 3rd qtr...and finally..folks need to look around the MAC and realize that other coaches including Cubit at wmu took over bad programs and have better records than JD...at best he is a VERY one dimensional head coach...got my tickets for the OSU game lined up..laterakronoldtimer

ziproo is on it, Brookhart is overrated right now...the rest of the MAC coaches caught up and he did not progress either in prep or on the sideline...JD has way too many excuses for why people HE supervises did not do a better job...most coaches do..if you want to be MOST coaches....see JD Brookhart...a consistent winner???!!careful with Harvey...may not have hands...jabari arthur? lets see somebody get the ball to him...on "D" nobody stands out this year..thats scary are there any playmakers??sorry about friday but WMU-35 Akron-14akronoldtimer

Captain, good observations...what we found out this year is that Getsy was NOT the playmaker last year... it was Biggs and Hixon...Biggs could run the middle and catchHixon got open and CAUGHT the ball...most of the time...Harvey hasn't mastered BOTH of those skills yet...Biggsy and Hixon made the guys around them better...there is nobody on that O yet that can do that...unless Kennedy gets a lot stronger he will never run the middle consistently...what happened to to Mickey Baker... the JUCO? anybody know... he was supposed to be a stud linebacker...Friday will be ugly...here is hoping that JD and the coaching staff look at the lack of progress this year and run a tighter ship next yearoh...don't look for media coverage to improve until the Zips start putting together 8 or 9 win seasons consistently...i am at the OSU game next year...see ya Fridayakronoldtimer

nothing personal with MACKEY... he IS a hardnosed kid...but the talent level he is playing against has caused some of his problems...like everyone else...ya gotta line up with FREE SAFETY who can punish the receivers and support against big backs...not there with these guys...too many "overacahievers" to be playing the schedule they are playing...akronoldtimer

i do have to admit its neat to see the interest in Uof A football...nothing like this since "Jerry's Kids' in th early '90's...what a shyster he was ...any of you remember the musical, The Music Man''? Robert Preston's character was a 'snake oil' salesman..'oh we got trouble right here in river city' i keep getting that image every time i listen to 'ol JD...he wouldn't be here if he wasn't buds with the former AD now at cincy...i can't shake this feeling JD is only here to PAD HIS RESUME...then leave...his teams play like a bunch of individuals...not a team...Solich may be a drunk but his kids play for him now...only took 2YEARS...akronoldtimer

the reason the 3-3-whatever DOES NOT WORK is because every team at this level can RUN straight ahead...h.ll even the kids from north texas and buffalo had decent games...when you throw in a MOBILE QB...that D is toast...the 3 lineman get jammed up inside and unless you have lawrence taylor or a.j. hawk backing them there is nothing to run the the plays to the sideline...sorry folks John Mackey may be a wonderful kid...but his abilities have been 'exposed'... not pretty..recruit a D end who can rush the passer AND some backers with SIZE...not Stokes or Grant...put in the 4-3 and play a '2 deep" in the secondary...the safeties can punish the receivers..akronoldtimer

ZIPANALYST is right on... been to every home game + Can't and last night... the recurring theme for the year is the inabaility of BROOKHART and his staff to prepare the team to play quality opponents...after the first scripted drive was again aborted by a Getsy turnover... the COACHES had NO response... on either side of the ball...once Solich new he could jam it up the D's you know what...he did...no response from the akron sideline...Solich toyed with Brookhart the rest of the night...cause he could..its obvious there is some talent on this team...Harvey still has no hands though and Kennedy will never run inside consistently... but BROOKHART and his staff have been unable to put them in the best position to win games...that has not changed all year...thats one of those FATAL flaws that gets coaches fired...plenty of talent few wins..i also agree that there seem to be some undercurrents with this team...lack of discipline...too much individual crap on the field... who is sailing the ship?!!next Friday could get REAL ugly, cause western mich. will be playing for a BOWL...seems so long ago,doesn't it????akronoldtimer

i hope i'm wrong but i'm afraid if boobcats get on early roll its going to get ugly for the ZIPS...i still have no confidence COACHES can get everyone on the same page...they would have to coach and play their best game of the year....ou is going to run until they have to change shoes...ZIPS can't tackle...too small at linebacker...then there is the inconsistent O...unless the ZIPS can cause some early turnovers AND get into the ENDZONE....somebody call 'ol JD and tell him to play it like their BOWL game...it isakronoldtimer

ok the scrimmage is over. how did Can't lose to those guys? zips tried but couldn't keep 'da bulls' in the game. still too much confusion on the sideline and on the field for the 10th game of the year.still too many yards on the ground by the D.still too many bad decisions by the coaches,the QB and #72 on the O line.Jackson's bomb was beautiful...if Harvey gets some hands he'll greatOhio U?? they see the ground game will kill the zips on D...they see the speed rush will get to Getsy..they see the punt and field goal teams are subjects for a comedy routine..Zips better play it like their BOWL game or OU wins the division on Akron's watch.akronoldtimer

In one sense its good Brookhart is apparently going to be here at least through next year. My concern is that the team obviously lost some cohesiveness,especially on the offensive side with the departure of Pry, Biggs and Hixon. Brookhart needs to take a hard look at the lack of production from the "O". Needs to find someone who can tutor a new QB and call plays. I get the sense Brookhart was calling more plays this year. Not the head coaches job because he can't spend enough time.He also needs to take a real hard look at the "D". If the assistants can't/won't adjust,bring in someone who can install a 4-3. Got to stop the run.Maybe the hope of new digs to play in will keep ol' JD here a few more years. Seems to be a good recruiter. Not sure about the X's and O's though.At least if we can't go neither does Can't!Go Zips.akronoldtimer

Lets not get excited about this year. Solich is recruiting Texas and has some big boys who would have gone to Nebraska. If they stay sober they are in. Zips have no chance in that one. At least the Golden Flushes won't go.Need to see Carlton Jackson Now. need a 4-3 D next year. This crap that they run now is weak unless you have a bunch of mobile, agile, hostile line backers and safeties. Zips do not.Divine intervention saved the BG game. Getsy can't do it and when teams gear to stop the run he and the receivers have to carry the team. They can't.The COACHES need some discipline and to exhibit an ability to adjust. The Defense has not all year.6-6 would be good this year.akronoldtimer
