  1. easy guys...you're going to wear yourselves out...
  2. AMEN!
  3. road trip to Syracuse...see a game in a dome...neat!
  4. and which schedule are you looking at?...the wins are????
  5. any of you guys actually KNOW what the schedule is... just play the games!
  6. don't beat yourselves up over Can't...it happens on a regular basis that they are the class of the MAC...the Zips haven't been there and are not there...you can play Duke and NC and lose..but if you can't beat the VCU's, Nevadas etc etc. you don't deserve to be recognized for more than you are...a run of the mill team from a second or third rate conference...
  7. the thing that constantly confuses me then is if the Zips are so good at OSU as you maintain...how come it rarely translates into them beating those high powered MAC teams WHEN IT COUNTS? or on the other side...how come OSU then manages to go on later in the season and beat all those teams which are clearly superior to the Zips (and most of the other MAC teams for that matter)...OK you believe what you want and we will agree to disagree so you don't get nasty again...
  8. ya know...IF or when KD starts doing here what Waters,Christian et al have done at Can't, then we won't have to worry about this stuff will we?.. face it... in b.ball Can't has the hammer!!!
  9. lost by ONLY 2-3 touchdowns because Tressel calls off the dog!!s..if he really thrashed the MAC teams like he could, how many would play him? please..
  10. i wanna see Fleming on the field..at 6-3/6-4 if he has any speed at all and a mean streak he could be aheadhunter the D needs...anybody got any more on this kid/
  11. go Manny...he ain't goin' down w/o a fight is he?..i wanna see the new place built but, i think when we live in the good ol' US of A ya gotta be willing to deal with those of us who don't want to conform!
  12. completely agree here..after scheduling 3-4 road games to start the year in places you can't win...not only have the fans forgotten about the team, the players are so beat up that it is hard to put your best team on the field for the MAC schedule...they may play their butts off in Columbus etc...but the tank gets low when you have to do that 3-4 times in a row...schedule 1-2 competetive games at home early so the fans see the team before they start watching OSU or the Browns every week...
  13. yep..wonder how playing for dad will work out? this could be a kid with the speed and size to be a rush linebacker..
  14. This kid seems intriguing...listed at 6-3/6-4 and a safety? plays basketball at Hoban...must be one hell of an athlete!where do you play him? and when?
  15. speaking of the O-line...is Sekinger going to play this year?
  16. reality would be good..the first thing that HAS to happen is in the athletic depatment..they have to cut the attitude that the team is to be sacrificed to the likes of OSU, PSU and on and on for CASH... we all know money is necessary but history shows us that in this town in doesn't put butts in the seats when you lose to OSU,PSU etc etc..WINNING is the best PR the AD can get... they could get Cincy,Pitt..how about an SMU...Rice..teams from the mid level that people recognize...then beat the best MAC teams!!! play for something meaningful in October and November...you will never get 30K consistently... but if you win in a new stadium consistently you can haul in 20K maybe 25K...this year and next are critical....
  17. from one who was born and raised in Akron but left and returned...see the rest of the world while you have a chance...have something to compare this place to before you decide what its like...if you still like it,fine if not, good for you...i am glad i got out for a while...plan on leaving again as soon as i retire..
  18. some of you guys are so smart...really...whats the Zips record going to be this year?....lets not take ourselves too seriously here...especially after the last 2 years...oh ya...will the new stadium get built in time?...how about a pool...we can all throw in 10 bucks, pick an actual completion date..the closest w/o going over wins the pot..kinda like the Price Is Right!...ya i know some of you may not like this 'thread' being thrown in here...but we are ALL dedicated fans...RIGHT...
  19. there is a diagnosis in the DSM(psychiatry/psychology) that deals with people who fantasize and engage in believing certain things will occur in spite of REALITY...welcome to the world of Akron Basketball(and football for that matter)
  20. You might have just received your wish. According to Rasor's Blog, Deryn Bowser, a four-star JUCO Wide Receiver from LA, has just committed to the Zips. He's 6-3, 215 lbs, and runs a 4.5 stop makin'stuff up...this guy has got bigger fish to fry than Akron...LOOK at the website!!!!

  22. the kind of loss that carries over for 2-3 games...can't(oops) get over the hump...ever
  23. no...he should make UofA give him enough money to buy a new piece of property and/or bldg. since they want where he has been for YEARS...
  24. Amen to that brother!I have to believe that sitting pat on the hand Akron holds is a sign that the crew in charge fail to understand just how poor the team -- meaning the offensive attack (Nike once had a hiking boot called the Noatak -- it was named after JD Brookhart's offense) was in 2007. It reminds me of the Cleveland Cavaliers failing to bring in anyone to help LBJ before this season. The lack of offensive performance shows the team must bring in a leader with some imagination to call plays -- BUT that is not the only problem with the offense, and I believe the biggest problem is the underperformance of the blockers and the blocking schemes. This team has some great young players on its offensive line -- and they should be able to manhandle opposing lines, at least in the MAC. So, yes, bring in a OC with proven ability either at the BCS level, or from a lower level. But we have also got to find someone who can teach the kids on the line how to block. QB is a key position in college FB, but by itself, a quarterback cannot win games. We need to upgrade the whole team and program, and should rely on the strengths we have. The O-line is the area of the team that has the most potential for improvement, and can be what leads Akron to a bowl season in 2008. Go Zips! if we see the OC as a problem don't you think good 'ol JD also can see that?...and if so don't you think IF he wants to stay at Akron he would make the change?...JD is ultimately responsible for the play calling...IF he had a big problem with it during the season wouldn't one assume HE would have made some changes...apparently he doesn't have a huge problem with the play calling or the change would have been made...OR the play calling wasn't the real problem!!!
