  1. MAC Semis - 6,300 MAC Finals - 5,300 (Akron didn't play) Pitt was a top 10 team in the country.
  2. Pick me! Pick me!
  3. Akron will NEVER see 8,000+ people at their basketball games.
  4. A lot of people have plenty of money.... it doesn't mean that they should write a check to the U of A to build an arena though. No offense but other than KD, what tie does LBJ have to the U of A?
  5. All good info and I agree that KD should be paid fair market value however, I think it is important to look at revenue. This article is from a couple of years ago but things probably haven't changed much since. - Gonzaga brings in $1,022,313 in profit ... 25.1% profit - Creighton brings in $ 789,007 in profit ...16.4% profit - Louisville brings in $ 16,869,569 in profit ... 66.2% profit - VCU shows even revenue Akron shows losses of $1,178,531 ... -277.4% ... 3rd worst in Division 1
  6. Comparing them to a HS team is pretty accurate but a top OSHAA team (St Eds, St V, Jackson...) type of team would probably beat them.
  7. I would say that Akron DOES put a TON of money into the basketball program......KD makes $400,000+.
  8. Because the reality is, the MAC is a low level conference in the grand scheme of things. I almost said "compare it to all other D1 Schools" but then the response probably would have been, "the top programs aren't like MAC schools. Players leave early for the NBA." The fascination of being the best in the MAC is what it is. The MAC is not the same conference that it was in the 90's...it's not. This is no longer a 2 bid NCAA tournament and 2 bid NIT league. It's an automatic bid to both tourneys and everyone else goes to the CBI. I personally enjoy MAC basketball. Would it be great to have a program that contends for the national title and routinely makes runs in the NCAA tournament? Hell yes it would. But I am also a realist and look at the fact that Akron has never won an NCAA game and understand that the MAC as a conference has had a total of 30 wins in the history of the tournament. (With half of those wins going to 2 schools). To "think bigger" is not reality in my opinion.
  9. Very good points. I wonder what the ratio is at all of the other programs in the MAC? (Not trying to make an excuse, for/against KD, I am just wondering if it is on par with everyone else.)
  10. Obviously someone's account was hacked.
  11. Lol, ok. Yes, if you are really good you have a shot at the NBA....those players simply aren't coming from the MAC. That's all I am saying.
  12. I am not saying in any way the KD is not responsible. My only point when I said "KD is not the problem" was that, nothing is ever said about him (or any coach for that matter) when things are going well. But as soon as there are a couple of losses in a row, the "KD sucks" thread lights up. Nobody can argue the success that the program has had in the MAC under KD. There are lots of other things that can be discussed but they have been a top MAC program under KD.
  13. 40 MAC players in the NBA since 1969.
  14. There are currently two MAC players on NBA rosters.
  15. Trust me, if Zeke Marshall was NBA talent, he wouldn't have been at Akron. Some people in these forums tend to overrate some talent on this team. The Akron Zips do NOT have any potential NBA players on their roster....and haven't for quite a few years. Zeke was the closest to that and he can't break in to the NBA. Let's not turn this in to a KD bitchfest because they lost a couple of games. KD does a good job with what he has and what he has is a roster full of MAC players and MAC players are players that can't play for the bigger schools. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that in any way, I'm just saying that this is not a KD coaching problem.
  16. I liked Tree and he was a fan favorite for sure, but "Legendary"? I don't think he is in the top 10 in any statistical category is he?
  17. It's a good thing basketball is an indoor sport.
  18. Bluffton is next and then Marshall... Work on everything before the MAC season starts and kick some MAC ass!
  19. He can play. I like him a lot. He plays smart. Look out in a couple of years when him and Jackson are grown up.
  20. Morris, now the SC win goes in the tubes after tonight.
  21. "Officiating Threads" are for excuses. The officiating tonight did NOT lose the game for Akron....the open back door did.
  22. Yes, you're right. When you drop your shoulder, it is a charge... (all 3 times). Yes, guarding the 3 point line was critical because that was the shot UA kept taking all night and the strength of their offense. MT took it away from them which is why they didn't get a shot off. Obviously Kermit thought it was important to take it away on that last possession.
