  1. Wrong thread...deleted.
  2. Not really excited about anyone mentioned in the article. Babers would excite me. Stroud and Hickson could both be very good links, but there are some question marks. I am not interested in another John Caroll alumni. A no-name coach has to come with P5 connections, IMHO to be successful at recruiting. Stroud has those, for sure.
  3. I would have taken that bet.
  4. If I was an AD, keeping names out of the public would be my goal, especially after what happened at Tennessee with Greg Shiano.
  5. Prepare to be obsolete.
  6. There is nothing D1 about the Zips.
  7. Recruiting is marketing. #ourway int going to resonate with recruits. Truthfully, any professional job in this area requires some marketing skill, whether you are trying to retain employees, attract new ones, or pitch your idea to senior leaders. Leading with influence vs. authority is one of the most necessary skills in the workplace,, today.. But you probably haven't had a real job,, yet.
  8. I don't know. His ability to recruit is my biggest question mark. Does he have much real experience in it?
  9. Let's face it...marketing for the last 3 years has been beyond bad. Nothing that caught national attention and the #ourway was as uninspired as you can get. You need a guy with some non-football savvy, too, some penchant for marketing and fundraising
  10. I see KN's dad is back going scorched earth on Twitter.... (@rogerdat)
  11. Maybe he is trying to get a medical redshirt year.
  12. Feels like a hostage video, lol.
  13. There's also this thing called Google...
  14. Sure, we have talent gaps, but a coach who knows how to prepare team would have pulled off more wins with what we have. When you watch the Zips fall apart, you see a lack of focus and the finest that area that has been prepared demonstrates. I recently heard a QB talk about the way his OC made sure he could execute and called plays that he could make. That matters.
  15. Fair enough. I just hope they are ready to as soon as coaches are available.
  16. Any word on whether the search committee has begun work? The sooner, the better.
  17. As Coach Bowden says, "The fun is in the winning." App State packs the house routinely. If you want crowds, "Just win, baby."
  18. ULM used it and went from 0-10 to four wins in year one of a rebuild. It can be done. No known discipline issues have followed, FYI. By the standards I have seen floated around here, we would not have had Jojo Natson, arguably one of the most exciting Zips to watch in recent history, and a guy who now wears a SB ring. I absolutely believe in second chances.
  19. Some really good thoughts in here. I don't see how we are pursuing the best possible candidates if we are not including some quality black coaches. And by some, I mean more than one. If Dino Babers gets let go by 'Cuse, I would love to see him run the program.
  20. I think it is a lot less about who plays than how they prepare for a game. Yes, of course talent matters, but the Zips have not look like a team properly prepare for a gem since Arth arrives. It is all about practice...winter conditioning, summers...they have to be taught how to prepare and have coaches that can prepare them.
  21. It was time for Arth to get canned and I applaud Guthrie for doing it now, but it is really going to stink for the seniors. They will likely get benched to try to get you get kids reps in hopes of keeping them around. A painful way to end a career that has been mostly makes by losing for most of these kids. At least the kids who were around for Bowden had the joy of an upset at Northwestern.
  22. Coach Prime? Might not be easy to get him to leave Jackson State, but the U really needs to work hard at finding some diverse candidates.
  23. https://twitter.com/CoachRGarrett/status/1452117667159187458 @CoachRGarrett: Nobody’s having more fun than @CoachTBowden and the Warhawks! Another great win tonight! #TheBestIsOnTheBayou https://t.co/vetDXwZDfB https://t.co/Wc0a29iqXy
  24. This. Arth put his eggs all in one basket. It was an outdated mindset and it cost him. No one is building without the portal right now. It doesn't have to be 2-3 years of misery if they hire the right guy, but you can't expect a guy without connections to do well in the portal.
  25. This 》 https://twitter.com/FootballScoop/status/1456252393490898945 @FootballScoop: Consecutive head coaches fired by Akron: Tom Arth Terry Bowden Rob Ianello JD Brookhart Lee Owens Gerry Faust Perhaps, just perhaps, the University needs to rethink their commitment to football https://t.co/fzQOCTYHyS
