  1. I think so. Kids can take the authoritarian style if they know the coach is credible and cares about them. Akron needs a coach who will not accept losing and inferior work ethic. Patterson strikes me as that kind of guy.
  2. Here's another name: Gary Patterson. TCU was short-sighted in this one.
  3. When you compare to his peers, he was at the bottom of the list with turn-arounds, so yes, he was given more than enough time. He didn't know how to do it As far as culture, you see no fight in this team.
  4. If you want young, inexpensive, and up and coming, Zac Alley, TB's DC is worth a look. He was special teams coordinator of the year at Boise State, has put together an impressive defense in year one at ULM, and spent 6 years learning from Brent Venerables at Clemson. That being said, I bet TB tells him this is not a place he wants to go.
  5. This is such a joke. He had three recruiting classes. He showed to get rid of one and failed to deliver on the other two. He has how many wins in three years? Nobody gets four or five years to start to win. Look at other G5 year one coaches and many are doing much better than Arth is, in year three. And as for this great culture he was developing, it never materialized. He didn't understand his kids, IMHO.
  6. This is such a joke, lol. It has been circulated without any credible evidence.
  7. I am not readjudicating his firing, but pointing out that he has been unable to go in and turn things around in short order. ULM was the worst team in D1 last year. Akron was far from in the worst shape in D1 when Arth took over. I am merely pointing out that if three years isn't fast enough for real progress, perhaps your standards are too low. Arth has made Akron a more difficult place to recruit to, not better. And as for his supposed recruiting prowess, where is it?
  8. I am not sure what reality you are loving in. 11 sacks by Buffalo and blowout after blowout. If Bowden's performance was unacceptable, how on earth can you want to wait longer for Arth? How bad does it have to get?
  9. But other coaches have managed turnarounds, with programs in worse shape. This is year 3. They are getting worse, not better. He chose not to take advantage of available talent in the portal. He lost players who are being productive for other schools. THERE IS NO HOPE WOTH TOM ARTH.
  10. You should not have to wait and Arth shouldn't still be here. Bowden has over 50 new players on the squad at ULM and they have gone from 0-10 last year to starting off at 4-3. I do believe there have been problems with administration. Hopefully the new AD is rectifying those, but the failure to use the transfer portal and the regression seen this season are enough reason to let him go, even if it just means finding a cheap interim coach. Allowing him to continue continues to rip any shred of respect away from the program than remains. I honestly can't believe he hasn't been fired, yet.
  11. It's sad when you can't wait for the season to end so we can hurry up and fire the coach.
  12. Akron has gone 3-22 since Bowden was fired. Bowden has a team that was 0-10 in 2020 sitting at 4-3, with two impressive back to back wins. Things went south for Bowden when the AD and the university president changed. We know that he was told he had to stop recruiting from the south, or at least decrease it. What else happened that led to that massive shift in trajectory? It won't do Akron any good to fire Arth if they don't get serious about football in general. Maybe with Williams gone things are better, but there has to be commitment.
  13. Liberty is no longer interested in CUSA.
  14. Marshall and Southern Miss are joining the SBC. I was always surprised Marshall wasn't already there.
  15. It could be funny, if I didn't think that there Akron fans who would be perfectly willing to look past Gruden's racism.
  16. Sorry, I don't even like the idea of joking about bringing a guy like Gruden in. Even in joking, he is given some degree of credibility and he deserves none.
  17. I can't believe you could entertain even 2% a guy that would make so many players, assistants, and the community at large feel so disrespected. There is no room for a known racist on campus. I can see a scenario where Dino Babers gets let go from Syracuse. I have always been a huge fan of Babers. Bring him back to the MAC.
  18. No, I have said it is hard to tell how much is Arth and how much is the administration. But, there is no reason to expect Arth to be successful, based on his experience and history. He wasn't a raging success at UTC.
  19. That's one narrative. An alternate is Terry Bowden had the team on the right trajectory, a regime change happened and he no longer had the support required to continue the growth. You could bring in Ed Orgeron and things won't improve unless things at the university level change. Change requires will, means, and skill
  20. Your poor communication skills are mind numbing. Also, the big difference? Having a supportive administration.

  22. I think you have me confused with someone else. Arth has been a complete failure but we cannot afford to fire him.
  23. If you look at what TB is doing at ULM, the answer is, yes. And yes, he did a fair amount of it, here, too.
