I am tempted to think we need to score first, too, but I also thought that and other "musta all year only to be wrong. MAC Bowl conference call with head coaches and 2 players from each team is up. Coney and Gilbert were our 2 players. http://getsomemaction.com/news/2017/11/27/listen-marathon-mac-football-championship-teleconference.aspx -
MAC Championship—Rockets vs Zips @ Ford Field

Agreed. I am not sure we have run a trick play all year. -
Isn't the Dollar General Bowl a better bid, though, and still in Alabama?

I know this is not how many feel, but the Potato Bowl is better than the Camelia or Cure Bowl, IMHO.

MAC Championship—Rockets vs Zips @ Ford Field

I think it's fair to say this team has beat all of our expectations and overcome odds that we did not believe possible, so why not the MAC Championship? This is an excellent opportunity for us to use both QBs. Kato seems to be working with a limited playbook and not yet up to working through his progressions to hit his second and third targets. Use Woody to work the offense and Kato in spurts to pick up the pace. Kato only had 6 completions last week. We need better to win. As far as defense goes, it isn't the same defense that played Toledo last time, yet it is not the 2015 defense, either. I would also force Woodside to win with his arm. He is good for 2 picks, which we should be able to convert to points. I feel that our DBs have gone from good to great and our DBs are up for the challenge. I also agree with this. We got in Rourke's head and would love to do the same to Woodside. I do not care who catches the ball, as long as we make catches. I loved the late season pressure on the QB. Let's keep it up. We don't look good on paper, but there is not stat for wanting it more than the other team. This team has gutted its way to beating BG, WM, and Ohio, as well as retaining the Wagon Wheel. It's not a mistake or fluke we are here. -
I would say that the offense prior to Woodson getting hurt last year was a pretty dynamic and exciting offense to watch. That being the case, not sure that it is fair to saddle the lack of exciting play calling on Milwee. The first half of Ohio was exciting because the QB was making throws and the WR were making catches. They were pretty much the same plays called all year. Seems like exciting is more closely related to personnel than play calling. That being said, not a single trick play all year. Perhaps we have saved them all for the MAC championship.

In sone ways, this game scared me more than Ohio because of the vast differences in coverage. Kent does a pretty decent man coverage. Ohio is very vulnerable in coverage.

No, it is completely the strategy, IMHO.

Where do I get my MAC East champs shirt?

I think this is the truly amazing part, honestly. We have been able to minimize offensive mistakes by gaining a lead, and let our defense step up to win games while we played conservative second half offense and milked the clock. There have been a lot of complaints about this gameplan and I understand because it is not a lot of fun to watch, but Bowden found a way to win and hat's off to he and Amato.

Watching Woodson on the sidelines he did not seem disengaged. If TB calls his number, he will be ready. The cat video was horrible. We never need to see that, again. Why did it take so long to play Sweet Caroline? I think they are running a very limited playbook with Kato. Kent has a not terrible defense and plays pretty good man. The combination made it pretty easy to shut down Kato. He became rattled. We have to either go with Woody or fix this over the next 2 weeks.Tgere were some passes that could have been caught, but overall, the accuracy was not there. It seemed like he was trying to do too much, again. Gilbert played lights out ball. One of the first times we have sent him to rush the backfield. I think the D continues to improve every week. I am not sure why we did not try to block their punts. Their LS was terrible and the ball just floated back to their punter. Gasser had some tremendous punts last night, and put the ball right where we needed him to put it. He won't make the Ray Guy list, but he gets the job done for us. The guys kept their heads against some pretty cheap shots from Kent, and I was glad to see it. Kent was obviously a team that was beyond frustrated and a coach who knew he was done. Bowden has been able to keep this team focused on their goals and they are as emotional as I have seen a Zips team in the last 4 years. They believe they will be MAC Champions.

From where I sat, tonight's crowd was second only to the Pitt game, in the span of the last 4 years. It was a fun game.

Maybe we should send them flowers, lol.

Honestly, I am glad we liked the click in the second half. It got the game over before the rain arrived and also got me on the road at a reasonable time. We saw how raw Kato still is, tonight. To Kent's credit, their man coverage was far better than our receivers skill. On a positive note: Saw Kyron Brown after the game and he looked OK. What was his injury?
