Defense has had its faults, but really hasn't been AWFUL (aided by some drops; as I'm typing this, Saquon just broke one off). Ball looks decent when given the opportunity.

Yeah, I think the D has looked awful, but again, I never felt as though we would really learn a lot about the Zips from this game.

I think it's going to be a closer game than most think, but still a 3 score win for PSU.  Ball will run the ball well, but they will tall out in the red zone, hence his big yardage but losing.  The Defense will play solid, but I don't look for PSU to turn the ball over more than once.  Two sacks....

I think red zone, particularly within the 10 will be interesting to watch. I like what they did with Chapman and MTV (when healthy) in those settings last year and the trick that gave Tommy the score in the Potato Bowl.

  3. Lazy podcasters do pre-game analysis:

1.) They think Tommy is good and could be entertaining.

2.) They think our defense is so bad that it will be a blow-out.

3.) They are predicting tailgating by half-time.

    4. Weather forecast looks crummy.

    5. Only mention Tommy & Gilbert. No mention of WB or others.

My god you think it was the end of the world on this forum.  Another case study in EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALM DOWN.

Lol...you would think the published depth charts actually.meant something. They don't. They listed Matt Hoyer as a long snappers last year.  The only depth chart that matter is the one in the coaches heads.

There seems to be a lot of talk from GT and the coaches about the defense returning to its 2015 level of play. The first half of this game should give us some insight. I remember being impressed with how well the D played in the first half of the 2015 game against Oklahoma and knew they had something special. Last year against Wisconsin, the D looked overwhelmed from the beginning of the game. I suspect our secondary will be as good or better than 2015, but I don't see the D line being quite as good. For as great as Jatavis Brown was that year, Grice and a healthy Marcus in my opinion made that defense what it was.

Darryl Monroe played well for us and Grice played above his talent level, IMHO. He was an emotional leader for the D. I felt like the the D last year lacked leadership. I hope that a couple if guys step up and lead the D last year.

I think the D line is still evolving, but they did show significant improvement throughout the season in 2016. I don't think PSU is a very good measuring stick for the D. Troy and Iowa State are better. PSU is so stacked on offense that we could be solid on D and still get beat, soundly on D.
