The mid-year enrollees we got last year counted against that recruiting class, so that makes sense.

Yup. It was too painful to watch the QB situation. The Buffalo game sealed the deal. Woody looked so not like himself, it was too painful to watch and I had little hope that Goodman could catch up fast enough.

I am not sure I understand your comments (sincerely.) Are you saying 6'7"/320 is too small for D1 DL?

Plus Malik Townsend from Pittsburgh.... makes 21 recruits. I wonder which have either decommitted or are prefered walk-ons? I spent some time re-acquainting myself with some of the recruits. I forgot that Kidd is 6' 7" 320 lbs. The ABJ article said we want him for o-lone. Maybe we should reconsider that. Brimage visited MSU a month ago but show nothing about a change in his commitment. Let's hope he holds strong.

That's cool. Good for him.

We will see how much talent they have left and how they adapt to the changes. Their recruiting class is going down hill, fast. BGSU did not transition well after Babers left (I like Babers, a lot.) That is how I felt about it, too. They won a MAC title and played and lost in the Cotton Bowl. Was their close loss a "moral victory"? I thought they didn't matter? They were a very good football team. They were not elite. G5 schools have to establish themselves as successful programs over multiple years to gain respect in rankings and ever hope to have a chance at a college football playoff (not sure it will ever happen.) WMU had 1 very good season. Next year, they go back to being a middle of the road G5 school. +1

I think I would prefer Pelini over Miles....but let's wait for the next 2 seasons to pass before we worry about it. They aren't going to buy Bowden out unless some major scandal happens with the pressure on spending.

Was that their ESPN College Game Day appearance?

6‘ 3", 330lbs....but only offer appear to be from NC central. Might be a preferred walk-on offer candidate. You would like to see him come here if he has the work ethic and talent of his brother.

I'll say no to the evil potentates and Fleck, thanks, though. -

It is worth noting that the comments are a few months old, from the Bronco fan. I agree, they all knew he would leave. I can also understand why the players might feel betrayed. I think they all bought into what he was selling. -

I 100% agree. I found this comment about him in an article about his recent engagement (now married) after divorcing his wife, mother of 4 kids, from a Broncos fan. I take a lot of heat about supporting Bowden, but IMHO, he is always deflecting attention back to the kids and his staff. I have heard him talk about wanting to build a winning program - a perennial winner, not a one and done and the fact that he has roots here and plans on staying. Does he use the Bowden name? Sure, but not that much, truthfully, and nothing compared to Fleck. WMU had their year of glory. Now what? -

I probably enjoy this as much as I do, but I really couldn't stand Fleck. -
G5 Considering Their Own Playoffs?
zipsoutsider replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football
I am probably too old school, but I like the traditions of the last week games. I would not pair teams as described - I would leave scheduling along, for the most part. It does lead to an imperfect system, but the value of the major upsets that happen every year are worth it, IMHO. Tradition, drama, and underdog upsets are the stuff that makes college football a lot more exciting than the NFL. There is a lot more parity in college football than analysts and Vegas would like to acknowledge. As mentioned on another thread, it can be painful to watch the shellackings at the hands of bigger programs, but without those, you lose the exhilaration of the major upsets, too. I think we so often want a professionalize amateur, college football and when we do that we lose a lot of what I love about college football. I wasn't happy with the OSU pick for the playoffs, this year, but I would rather live with that then over-engineer college football any further. -

Not necessarily off the table. He's a pro-style QB. If we think we can snag him, we will. Other QBs might see that offer and walk on their own or come and leave when they don't see the field. -

Looks like Fleck has been offered the MN job and there are reports of he and wife in MN today (touring a school, assumedly for his kids.) -
I am not sure why that was the comment. 6' 4", 253, looks strong and nasty (in a good way.) Great point.
