  1. If that were the case, college and NFL teams would not be making game time decisions. It's not black or white.
  2. That is just plain foolishness and it sound like that is not the approach we are taking with Marcus vs. VMI.
  3. And they will play to win the game, but not jeopardize the season and MAC buying playing players on the bubble of being helathy.
  4. Have fun in Vegas!
  5. I never said or implied Bowden would lay off - he might not play an injured player on the bubble of being ready. It's not like I am suggesting something revolutionary, here, folks.
  6. What you describe is the difference between someone who increases wealth, over time, investing, versus someone ho goes to Vegas to get rich. I am not implying the Zips won't try to win this game. Like I said, the end goal is to win the MAC. Win Wisconson and go on to have a mediocre season, the win is lost in the mediocrity. Lose Wisconsin, win the MAC, it is remembered as a stellar season. Win both, we have arrived. PI am not sure we are there, yet.
  7. New article article from GT about the receivers.
  8. Thanks - corrected.
  9. And they were really bad that year. I agree this is winnable, but I also don't see Bowden gambling away players like Marcus, if they are on the bubble for an OOC game. Winning the MAC is clearly the priority. Coming out of a Madison would be a great win for the program, and he will come with the team ready to win, but he won't mortgage the farm to make it happen. All that being said, I see it as equally winnable as Pitt was.
  10. I doubt Chryst will take us lightly. The upset at Heinz Field is probably a little too fresh in his memory. If that were to happen, Chryst would never play Bowden, again.
  11. I definitely prefer the new white helmet design. The new navy uniforms are sharp.
  12. Chiefs Appear to Have a New Starting Linebacker I watched the game and was pleased to see Justin play so well. He's a class act and makes Zips fans proud.
  13. If they are sitting out, they can't participate - why would they show on the roster? They aren't officially on the team if they are sitting out.
  14. He is on the roster, does that mean he is eligible to play this year? Does the 105 on the roster = the 105 at camp?
  15. Well, we did land Brian Bell. He played well on special teams last year and look forward to watching him play this year.
  16. Hello? After one week of practice at the D level and just starting to learn the playbook, you don't make evaluations on scrimmage stats. They aren't trying to build Rome in a day with a new recruit. I think posters often overlook not just the football transition that occurs when a freshman joins the zips but the emotional transition, as well. This kid just moved pretty far away from home, has all new teammates, is learning a new system. Give him a year and you will be amazed at the maturation that occurs.
  17. Watching a kid at a camp trumps a highlight video.
  18. It's always a possibility that it's because the D line is struggling, but after seeing them at the spring game, I believe they will be good enough for this year with the potential to be rock solid for the following 2 years. The O line really started playing better during the second half of last season, but their talent level left a lot of opportunity for younger players to come and in and do a sufficient job this year.
  19. And this.... "The offensive lines were solid throughout." Despite the personnel loss, this appears to be well in hand. We will have a better idea of how solid it is against App State and Marshall.
  20. I guess it would have killed George to put a little more effort into this post: http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/university-of-akron-zips-blog-1.277207/akron-zips-training-camp-day-5-first-day-in-full-gear-1.704322?localLinksEnabled=false&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  21. If he redshirted does he gave to sit out?
  22. I like that Edwards will get some more time to grow into the position and also learn from an experienced guy. I liked what I saw from Edwards last year, especially down the stretch.
  23. Traffic could be a bit of an issue this year: http://www.ohio.com/news/local/get-ready-to-jam-in-traffic-odot-to-start-massive-akron-highway-project-tuesday-morning-1.703186
  24. I am really excited about Bennett's potential and what that means to the offense. For the first time since Bowden's first year, the offense is really poised to be a serious threat, and it has depth, finally. It's not like last year, where a defense could focus on containing Lane and Hundley and hope to catch Tommy if he scrambled. With Lane, Natson, Bennett, and Warren Ball in the mix, there will not be nearly the pressure on Tommy to scramble, but he can scramble if needed. I am really looking forward to watching Tommy throw the ball this year. You have to think that our stacked offense is part of the reason Tommy is on the watch list.
  25. I'd wager that is a common sense way to save money.
