  1. Channel 5 dumps out of the Miami/Temple game with about :44 left.Granted, the game was out of reach for Miami, but they were driving on Temple, and who knows what could have happened. There's no need to dump out of the Miami game with only 44 seconds to go, just to see 3 minutes of commercials and Ohio State running out of the tunnel. The game would have been over by then.Once again, Channel 5 craps on the MAC.Do us a favor Channel 5, just don't televise any more games unless you plan to carry THE ENTIRE game.
  2. I hear ya. Persoanlly, I have to get my computer time in between games of Roller Coaster Tycoon! Zippy is down again, this time by 98 votes at 1:37 p.m. Thurs. What do you say we all make the big push while watching the Indians game tonight.Plop the laptop on the coffee table and just keep voting until you drop over. What do you say.If we all get on there tonight, we can put Zippy back in front. It's obvious that everyone is voting against us and if we let down, we'll lose for sure.Just five or six of us can make the diff tonight...more the better...Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?Hell no!Who's with me...let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Zippy now up by 200 at 9:40 a.m. Thursday...amazing work Nation!!But, like the Indians, the job is not done.Let's pour it on!
  5. He's too busy listening to his iPod.
  6. In the last hour that I, and other of course, have been voting, we've only picked up about 27 votes on him.Still down by about 220 at 9:52 p.m. Wed.
  7. Zippy down by 600 votes Monday evening.Time to do our thing.Let's git er donehttp://www.capitalonebowl.com/Voting/Default.aspx
  8. Can't State is the "most talented" team to get their brains beat out by the Buckeys. LOL
  9. I would like to correct you on this:No player may enter the neutral zone causing an offensive linemanto react immediately. An official shall sound his whistle immediately[Rules 2-18-2-a and 7-1-3-a-4-© Exception] (A.R. 7-1-3-VIII andIX) [s7 and S18].I've never heard of such a thing. How about that?
  10. You're exactly right.I could see the WMU athletic dept. posting this on UTube...but for the newspaper to do it...it's like they're campaigning for the school....an institution they must cover with objectivity...not act as their pipe organ. Each day the bar is lowered on journalistic ethics.Sad to say.At least they cover the school and show an interest in it. The beacon..................MIANot exactly apples to apples, however, I will stipulate what you are trying to say.Go Zips!!!
  11. Not so Skip. Defensive linemen can move as much as they want. They just can't be in the neutral zone when the ball is snapped. That's offsides. You can't call a false-start penalty on the defense.
  12. Yeah I suspect they plan to make CSU a regional UA campus like Wayne (although much, much larger), but every time I hear about it, I just think "why?"Some people have talked about putting all of the public universities under one entity, I suspect they're trying to get the ball rolling.Do you really think that they will allow Cleveland to lose it's university? The people up there won't allow it, and would consider it an insult to be made a branch campus of such an "inferior" school. You know as well as I do that they believe that CSU is twice as large as our little commuter school / communitty college. It's funny, because the Cleveland press is really pushing this idea along, but you kno that they will be the first to complain when they realise that UA is going to be the one to benefit, and CSU may be eliminated or absorbed.I've worked in Cleveland 25 years. I've never known anyone, including CSU alums to consider UAkron an inferior school to CSU. Crain's Cleveland Business this week listed the enrollment of NE Ohio schools. CSU is now down to approx. 10,000. I was rather surprised at that.

  14. Let them whine. We have the WIN!We move on.
  15. Zippy is down by one stinking vote at 11:25 a.m.But not after I clean out my browser a couple of times.
  16. OK, here's the video. It's obviously the Zips team tape from on top of the press box. Very wide. It is kinescoped (camera pointed at large screen on the wall) so it's not a first-generation dub. They have French's audio as the voice track. It's not great, but still the best on the Web so far that I know of.Click hereThen click on the "256" near the little TV with "The Play" next to it.Sorry, but I couldn't find a direct link.
  17. What channel and time is that on?
  18. I don't understand that comment.Just having some fun. We were within fifteen seconds of it being a five-point WMU win -- we called it a four-point win for WMU in our picks...that's all. Mostly poking fun at ourselves. Probably should have used a different emoticon.BTW...I was on the field in the end zone chatting with Chryst when Hixon caught that pass against NIU. It was one of those moments that are frozen in time that you don't forget. One of the great moments in MAC football...unless you were an NIU fan.OK, gotcha...I couldn't see or hear the game so I didn't get the 15 sec. reference.
  19. I would imagine the team has their own shooter up there. They (team shooters) shoot for different things that they do for TV.Also, I'm sure they're much more interested in the Temple game too. However, maybe one day it'll get out there...and it could be better than the Web feed since it probably was shot at a wider angle.I can imagine what the low-budget production tape looks like...
  20. Was the full-game production just for the Web?Too bad no broadcast outlets would pick it up...at least local cable access.I'm skeptical of the camera work on such productions though.I wonder if we'll really get a good shot of the final play?
  21. That recording is great. They start out with absolutely no hope in their voices as the play begins, then it builds to an unbelievable crescendo with absolute joy in their delivery.Mr. Stams, however, has got to learn not to step on his play-by-play man though. The color guy on the Bengals network does that all the time.
  22. I don't understand that comment.
  23. Now that's a dedicated Zip fan.I was in a tent at Hocking Hills State Park with the Boy Scouts dying to hear what was happening. My friend, who was visiting Las Vegas, laid down some cash on the Zippers (got ten points, ha ha), left a message on my cell phone that the score was 39-38...BUT HE DIDN'T TELL ME WHO WON.I was dying! On the way back the next morning, I called my oldest son at home and had him read the article into the phone. The Zips win Saturday and the Indians win Friday made for an enjoyable weekend. What a weekend!
  24. Hello everybody.Just a note to let you know that we'll be tailgating for the Temple game.Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. We'll set up shop by at least 3 p.m., maybe sooner. Hopefully, along the chain linked fence. If you're not yet a member, this would be a great opportunity to sign up.We'll have at least two grills going, so be sure to bring your meat...and adult malted beverages, of course.Let's cheer the Zips on against Temple!!!
  25. In the world of objective journalism...it shouldn't matter even if he did do something to him.Something the flush pipe organ at the Record-Courier has yet to learn.
