That was Morgan State, but you got the score correct.

I'm seeing a potential offensive explosion by the Zips, based on those numbers. It would be nice to see everyone resting sometime in the 2nd half, with the trip to Madison the following week.

College Sports Madness ranks Akron #82

I think you have an argument, but Buffalo now has the reputation on their side. Two straight MAC tourney titles, and people outside the MAC now recognize them as "the program" in our league, like it or not. It sucks because we beat them them on the road, and handily at home last season, and that's going to be totally forgotten by those people because Buffalo won the game that had the big prize. See my answer above. If they have this notoriety outside of MAC circles, it might just mean quite a bit if they are sitting there in March with a good record and no tournament title. -

If I consider the 3 key losses, I couldn't expect an outsider to see us as any better than that. I'll take it. If we think it's too low, then go out and prove it. -
I mostly agree, although I don't have a big issue with black jerseys, as long as they have Blue and Gold on them.
-
That's the Blue and Gold, the way it should be. Maybe this will finally be the year that someone will decide that our men's basketball team should stop wearing Blue and Silver.

We all know that the purpose of this event is to get current fans and maybe "fringe fans" more engaged. But even if it could also be a vehicle for the players to feel loved, and more motivated, couldn't that possibly have the opposite affect on them when very few people attend?
-
K92.....Sadly, you have a point.
-
Hmm. This event is never highly attended, but if it was just some loyal fans, and families of the players, it seems worthless to do this unless there's more activities and fanfare and publicity to make it something special worth attending.
-
Bingo.

And lose to Wisconsin AND lose the MAC title, and we'll all wish we had taken more gambles to try to get a landmark nationally-recognized win in September, rather than trying to save ourselves for a title chase in a low level conference that never happened. You go to Wisconsin trying to do everything possible to score a win that can catapult our program for years.

Have they added an Automatic Bid to the National Championship tournament or something? Like Basketball? I think everyone wants to win the MAC. But MAC titles in football don't have the same benefits that follow basketball. Plenty of teams go to Bowl games, and honestly, there isn't much of a difference between them. It's not a winner-take-all situation for the title holder, which lays so much emphasis on being the MAC king in basketball. On the other hand, this could be THE BIGGEST win in program history if we knocked off a Big 10 team on the road. Many benefits could follow, including recruiting. Sorry. I wouldn't be happy if I found out that the strategy is to stay healthy so we're ready to beat Ken+ 3 weeks later, and keep our MAC title hopes moving in the right direction. That would make no sense. We have to try to win a big game like this, whenever possible.

He keeps getting faster, shattered his personal-best twice just during these Olympics, and he's only 21 years old. I'm thinking he has the potential to reach the World Record time, and probably has another Olympics in him too. In addition, he might even go back to his 1500 specialty, and run both of them together. Yep, might be a Bobblehead in his future
-
He's going to have Lane 1 tonight. I'm thinking that's pretty good for a guy who appears to run the early part of the race in the middle of the pack along the inside.

Is anyone else thinking that it's possible that the 3 guards will start (Josh, Antino, and Noah) along with Kwan and Big Dog? I'm not saying that I think that is necessarily our best option, but Josh has grown a bit, he's experienced, he's a great shooter, and we just lost two good shooters at the wing positions. On top of that, KD seems like he always tends to rely on his most experienced guys.

Just a simple observation, but I looked at your post and clicked on the link, expecting to read some sort of comprehensive Day 5 camp report, but it's dedicated almost entirely to Ball, an OSWho transfer, and written by an OSWho alum. Obviously, I hope he's a beast. But, as much as we complain about our lack of coverage in the ABJ, I predict that if he starts to be productive for us, we will suddenly see a huge uptick in articles from this writer about this player.

Mike Bobinski named Georgia Tech AD
skip-zip replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
He sure did, which is why I am surprised to see here that he's recently moved up a bit in his profession. Maybe he learned from those experiences. Every time his name comes up in discussions, everyone still always remembers the time where Terry P. wrote the long article in the Beacon touting all of the great things he had done to elevate Zips athletics, which appeared right next to that year's MAC All-Sports standings, which showed us somewhere around last, or 2nd from last, in both Men's and Women's athletics. -
YES!! He's in. Easy 2nd place finish in his heat.
-
For sure. I just hope Clayton might have a couple more seconds in him if he's not getting clipped or bumped, like he did in this heat.
-
Here's a clip of the race, if anyone wants to see it. http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/david-rudisha-wins-800m-heat

He looks very skilled at making those extended two-hand catches over the top of DBs. At that height, he should have plenty of those opportunities against MAC DBs.

I think these games certainly raise a lot more eyebrows than most. Syracuse and Pitt in recent years are good examples. Pitt ended up being a real disappointment because of the weather. I thought that could have been a great crowd under good weather conditions. The ticket pre-sale seemed to indicate that. A Miami game would probably be another level up from that. Miami's willingness to go to Appalachian State, Cincinnati, and Toledo should be applauded. I certainly hope we are paying attention when we see any program of that stature that might travel, because I still think it's pretty uncommon for someone to travel to those kinds of destinations if they are closer to the top of the echelon.

UA To Create Texas A&M Style Corps of Cadets
skip-zip replied to zip-O-matic's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
Was there any new program that was created by this guy, or his vaunted "regime", even considered valuable to us anymore? I can't even fathom the salaries, golden parachutes, and marketing efforts that were wasted. I'm sure it was quite a few million. I probably don't even want to know. -
Peter Agba transferring to Rochester College
skip-zip replied to Hilltopper's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
I used to think that meant something too, but I don't read too much into it with the number of players today who will do just about anything to get premium playing time right away. But, lets hope that such a significant move from D-1 to NAIA really was an indication that he was of no use to us. -

Isn't this a big surprise? Did anyone see this coming? All I've heard from anyone up to this point was how much he could contribute this year. Was it becoming apparent in workouts that maybe his status in this year's rotation was slipping?
