  1. I want what you've been drinking
  2. Whaaat ?? The outright title by at least a 3-game margin over every other team in the league is a "struggle" that I would welcome every single year. And exploiting the match-ups down low against Big Dog were a HUGE part of that success. I'll be interested to see how you define some other much-less-successful years that might be headed our way in the near future.
  3. Maybe so. I just don't recall anyone saying that they expected Alleman to be in the NFL during the time he was here.
  4. I'm well aware of the his numbers, draft position, and how it compares to other Zips. I followed his career closely since I know his parents. I'm talking about the fact that none of us expected him to play in the NFL while he was here. He never even got any MAC accolades. Read the post by ZZX about some things that Larry may have done recently to bring himself out of obscurity as well.
  5. I can't get into the mind of an NFL scout, but I would have also thought that this would have definitely been the other way around. Maybe so. Good luck to Larry. Maybe he's going to be one of those guys like Alleman that comes out of nowhere to make a squad.
  6. I think that's pretty much what we all said when we got Forsythe to transfer here too. In theory, a transfer "down" should be a great benefit to us. You just hope you get the kid that's hungry to prove himself again and really wants to be a team player, and not the kid who still has his high school ego and feels entitled because he still thinks he's too good to be playing at a place like Akron. I think this is one of the two guys from the new crop (along with Patton) that have the potential to be important offensive contributors for us in the future. I hope I'm right. We'll see how they develop.
  7. Thanks for more info., Wadszip. Yes, I was just thinking that if there's really 4 solid spots taken already somewhere, that would be a tough situation to step into. Just thinking that there had to be plenty of places out there where there was real need. Although, considering that they took Jerome and JoJo might indicate that they don't feel happy with their current situation? Or, are they really just filling up spots to conduct camp? Who knows.
  8. Hmm. I would think that "4 Guys Set", if true, would probably not be a good situation. Maybe this is where is where I wish they could have gone to a team like the Browns instead? (not that I wish that on anyone....I'm so glad my boy Mitchell didn't end up there)
  9. That's one way to look at it. Or, you can see it as Akron having 2 chances to knock a Colts incumbent out of a job and be on an NFL roster.
  10. Damn. The Colts own the pipeline to Akron Receivers
  11. The one I cited at #30 was the one I counted that Dr. Z referenced from 3/7. And I was thinking THAT one was bad news. I know I said many times on here that I thought his chances of getting drafter were ZERO. But a few of you had posted some pundits' observations that gave me a very slim amount of hope that it would happen. I'm actually sad for him that it didn't happen. I still wish he had stayed, and think this was an ill advised decision for a number of different reasons, which starts with his "hope" that he could have run a faster 40 time. You need to know more definitively about what you are going to register when you're measured by scouts, before you jump ship.
  12. Back on Page 9, I commented about how he was the #30 Receiver in the Post-Combine mock draft. So, maybe he's getting close to having a chance.
  13. If this guy was destined to be a lower level bench player, then I'm sure we'd all much rather have back the Scholarship. I don't think we ever saw enough of him to know if anything better was foreseeable. Like I said earlier, we just have to use them wisely. We have some big numbers to replace all at once, so I hope we aren't just filling up roster spots. Mistakes at this point can haunt you for 4-5 years.
  14. I woke up to this story on the WEWS Morning News today. http://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/oh-cuyahoga/akron-police-looking-for-four-men-accused-in-robbery-and-shooting-at-jewelry-store It's bad enough that they had to mention the Univ. of Akron on TV for something like this, but they also said it was across the street from Infocision Stadiium. What a shame that the only time a Cleveland News Network utters the words "Infocision Stadium" is for an event like this.
  15. Me too. Because they are And weight too (except for Big Dog)
  16. Then how tall do you think a guy would be that's listed at 5'-8" ?
  17. 6' But I honestly don't know what people are defining as "Groce's Style" and I've seen it referenced so many times here since his hiring. Like most of us, I only saw his teams play a few times in those OU/Akron games back about 6-8 years ago. Then I see people who've complained for years about short guards at Akron say that this guy will "do well and fits Groce's style", before he's even put on an Akron practice jersey. Please, enlighten me.
  18. Can you share what you believe that is ? I've now heard that a 5'-7" guard is a good fit, and that a 270lb. post player is a good fit as well.
  19. Definitely has to sit next year. Played in plenty of games, and scored 5 ppg. I wonder if anyone knows more of the story. Disgruntled with playing time? That would seem odd if he was just a freshman. Homesick? Not likely if he's not going back to Illinois. I wonder why he went there to begin with. It looks like he had some better offers. Maybe he was tired of the West Coast Beach Life, and dreamed about what summers would be like on Summit Lake He's still young enough that we could hopefully grow another inch or two.
  20. Earth shattering news for Zips basketball fans. They are really ramping up the press coverage down there on Exchange Street.
  21. It's called......"I just took over a basketball program in April that lost their 2 top players, and has had 5 more guys transfer out, and I better look wherever I can to find anyone who might be able to help us win a few basketball games" But I'm not sure why you find it to be an "interesting approach" to be looking at both high school kids and possible transfers. Like any coach, all I care about is that he's utilizing scholarships to our greatest benefit.
  22. Huh ??
  23. That would be justice, wouldn't it? Although, she obviously lacks the patience and customer service skills. You'll find her doing Sports on a TV station somewhere like Des Moines Iowa sometime soon.
